    As a frequent library user, I appreciate that you're willing to pick books that are current enough to score a borrowed copy! Fable sounds so super cool, I'll be joining your club and checking out some others as well!

    And omg I Iove love Six Crimson Cranes! I finished reading about 2 months ago. What a great pick! Is the whole book club going to be on the Fable app? I just downloaded it. I don't mind reading it again or at least joining the discussion. Will there be audio/video discussion or only via written text? And only one meeting for each book? Or more like a weekly thing?

    I would love to recommend “The Posthumous Memoirs of Bras Cubas”, or “Dom Casmurro”, both classics written by the black Brazilian author Machado de Assis
    Ever since I started to read more classics from all countries, I realized how much I neglected his intelligence just because I found it hard to comprehend, and actually they are wonderful masterpieces written by a mastermind
    Unfortunately, no contemporary Brazilian authors of color that I know of were translated into English. Due to general miscegenation here, it’s very hard to tell ethnicities apart unless the person tells you, so it’s complicated... I’ll leave a recommendation for the people in the comment section though of a Brazilian YA LGBTQIA+ book: “Here the whole time” by Vitor Martins

    I am so excited for this!!! This year when I got back into reading, I made a vow to myself for most of the books I read to be by authors of color and it’s been so refreshing and I’ve felt so seen. I absolutely cannot wait for this!! I’m running to my Libby app right now

  • @LilRadRidingHood

    I love this so much! I can't wait to read and learn with you and everyone else.
    I've been trying to be way more aware of what I'm reading. To make sure I'm getting a diverse collection. I've even made my parents read by authors of color. And they have actually found some new favorite authors.
    I think this is so awesome. This is going to be great.

    This is such a great idea! Some books I've had my eye on are:
    You've Reached Sam, xoxo, the Taking of Jake Livingston, once upon a quinceañera, cemetery boys, how we fall apart, witches steeped in gold and you had me at hola

    This is an amazing book club!! 😍 for book recommendations, I recommend checking out Against the Loveless World by Susan Abulhawa. It’s about a Palestinian woman’s life and what it means to be a revolutionary. It definitely has some trigger warnings but I think it’s important to highlight Palestinian voices 🇵🇸

    Books l recommend for future Book Club picks: "Raybearer" duology by Jordan Ifueko, "The Torchbearers" by Ami Majmudar and "The Kishkindha Chronicles" by Professor Vamsee Juluri (It will be a trilogy with only the first two books released so far but it's written in a way that each book can kinda be read as a standalone too. The released books so far are "Saraswati's Intelligence" and "The Firekeepers of Jwalapuram"). I also recommend the classics "Parables" duology by Octavia Butler.

    I love this idea and joining a book club. I am actually working on doing something similar but for children. A work in progress.. I just hope I can keep up. I am currently reading Six Crimson Cranes and it is so so good so far. I don't want it to end. I will join and hopefully I can keep up. 😊

    @KLC228 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love this idea so much! You've created such a great community and what better way to get more intimate and read group books. Every year for a couple of years I've wanted to read two authors of color for every white author I've read, it helps keep me accountable. I'm so excited for Six Crimson Cranes!

  • @kundanchhabra
    @kundanchhabra 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    OMG I am so excited! What a great idea! This year I started 5 book clubs, including 3 simultaneously at the same time! All authors of colors! One of the best decisions of my life! I also made a decision two years ago to have 99 percent of my fiction reads be by us Visibly racialized People. And Same goes for most categories in non-fiction books too.

    I won't be reading Next Year in Havana, because it's not my genre and I really don't like settings that take place in the past/before 2000, but the other two books were already on my tbr and can't wait to read them.

    Love that you started a book club! I had previously purchased "Next Year in Havana" and I didn't know when I'd get to it, but I joined and started reading it last night. Not interested in the December pick and I already read the January pick and I absolutely loved it!

    I have never payed much attention to who the author is which resulted in me reading a lot of books by white men and I really want to branch out, I’m mixed but I was raised exclusively by my white mum so I feel really disconnected from the poc community and I would love to find a connection through books

    I probably won't be joining the bookclub for a while (I want to knock out my TBR), but I think it's a great idea! Also, I recently started following Mina! I also read a !ot of adult fantasy lol (and YA). Six Crimson Cranes sounds interesting, as I love East Asian mythology. The Unbroken sounds good, too. I look for books with LGBTQ+ rep.

    YEEEEEES. So excited for this. I hope that at some point in the future, you will get a chance to co-host with Adri from PerpetualPages. They are a non-binary Latinx booktuber who is super passionate about advocating for underrepresented groups. What I love most about their videos that they are more like a literary analysis. Adri digs deep into the meaningful themes in a book. They have incredibly developed reviewing skills that are different from any other booktuber I have come across (as in, they should be an English teacher!).

  • @gabbyrocks411
    @gabbyrocks411 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Super excited for this! I would recommend reading Sorrowland by Rivers Soloman! They are a black non binary author! The book is about a new black mother escaping a cult with a sci-fi twist. Such a good read that touches on so much.
