Saw one where the man begged the firefighters to save his cat. They did save the cat but could not save his house. When the told him the house was gone he said that didn’t matter they had saved his cat.
Yes many people were stopped by first responders from going into certain areas. Also people had choices hard choices to make. Dash to get children from schools and relatives from centers ot living facilities.... some of the stores are heart breaking. Many people took risks to go back to their homes. One woman said she tried getting necessary medication from a pharmacy for a relative but it was out of stock and she took a risk to go back to her home for it.
I had minor fire in my home once (hot water heater). I grabbed 2 things on my way out the door: My phone to call the Fire Dept. and my cat. Pure instinct.
I’m sure 90% of these owners loved their pets but they were maybe at work or out running errands when the fire started. It happened so fast there would have been no way to go back in many cases. Especially for areas hit on day one .

All shelters who have taken in animals need to have a website where pictures can be viewed for those looking to see if they survived. People at work may have not been allowed back into neighberhoods that had been evacuated.

I can’t imagine the fear that most pet owners had knowing that their pet is still at home, and they had no way of going back. A lot of people were probably out working or running errands, and considering that the flow of traffic would be heavy with everyone leaving, it would be hard to drive against it with not only the fires in the way but also the police rerouting the roads or stopping people from going back. I can only hope for the best for these pets and to the owners themselves.

We can’t assume people willingly left their pets behind. Apparently these fires flashed up quickly and if you were at work or out of your home for some reason you couldn’t get back to them. Can you imagine the heartbreak of knowing the fires were blazing and your pets were trapped.

If I had the money I'd bring my camper down to help with animals. I think if anyone has a camper and has the money for gas should come help out with shelter. Maybe make an entire parking lot full of campers with different help needed. A typical 30 ft camper can shelter at least 30-50 animals/kennels. I have 1 camper let's all try to find other people/campers to help. Maybe some gas stations donating gas for people who want to help, reach their destination.

There is absolutely NOTHING whatsoever I would not do to attempt rescue. Don’t tar all folk with the same brush. Not everyone was home when fire struck. Not everyone’s cat was in the house when they had to get their children out. FFS! People who have pets do all they can for them. This is not the time to guilt trip anyone. I’ve been in a fire zone. When it hits, so does panic, fear, and not a lot of clear thinking.
There wouldnt be problem if only there owners took them with them, cruelty at its finest and they say they care and love them thats BS the first thing i would do is put my animals in the car and go..life means everything ... thats NOT loving its heartless to leave them this animal thing happens in hurricane season too. I dont understand the why do it
And for all the people who were not home when the fire sparked? Or who get seperated from their pets in the chaos of running for their lives as they get stuck in traffic?

Get off your high horse. People were at work. Those who were home started to drive out with their pets, but the fire caught up to them. They were forced to abandon their cars and run to the beach. The ones at work rushed back but were not allowed in by police. Saw video of a man crying and begging to be let in to save his cat. Show some empathy and compassion.
