For those that were left perplexed by the Morrissey bit: The more famous Morrissey which you would expect Peter to be reading about was the lead singer of The Smiths before going solo. Neil Morrissey is a UK actor, who was in the sit-com Men Behaving Badly with Martin Clunes and Leslie Ash. It was a very good impression of Neil Morrissey.
Very good impression of Neil there 😂
Lol such a good bit
Yes when I 1st saw this years ago I thought it was brilliantly funny as I loved the smiths then peter.the whole show has been hilarious from the start.such a simple format but with Joe wilkinson, what more could you want😂😂😂😂😂luckily a lot are on TH-cam
That was an uncanny Neil Morrissey impression, though everybody was expecting to be the singer 'Morrissey' from 'The Smiths'.
As soon as he started reading morrissey book I was like ye there not getting that
It was a great joke though and good impression
In the last letters game you could get 'ravenous' - leaving us all hungry for more.
It goes to show that even Americans intelligence can improve when exposed to British culture! 😁
the ad-break words are just to amuse the audience . In the day time show they in fact say "For the audience at home" .
The clue was in the reading by Peter. Neil Morrissey and not Morrissey singer for the Smiths.
Wikipedia:
Men Behaving Badly is a British sitcom that was created and written by Simon Nye. It follows the lives of Gary Strang (Martin Clunes) and his flatmates Dermot Povey (Harry Enfield; series 1 only) and Tony Smart (Neil Morrissey; series 2 onwards). It was first broadcast on ITV in 1992. A total of six series were made.
Doc Martin is a British medical comedy-drama television series starring Martin Clunes as Doctor Martin Ellingham.
Men Behaving Badly is an American sitcom television series on NBC from September 18, 1996, to December 17, 1997. It is based on the 1992 British sitcom of the same name.
Countdown was based on a French show called Des chiffres et les letters which first aired in France in 1965, I believe 😊😊
17:49 the really nerdy version is if you start keeping track of their points if you got them and they didn't lol
If you know who Neil Morrissey is you would found that sketch very funny. I was in stitches
The points system for the words round is however many letters long your word is. 4 letters 4 points, 5 letters 5 points, 6 letters 6 points etc. However if you use all the letters to get a 9 letter word it doubles to 18 points as a bonus. Except for a conundrum at the end of the game which is just 10 points like getting the numbers round correctly.
The Abdicates man was the voice of Darth Maul.
he was also in John Wick as the armorer
@@WelBike1967 and the housemate in Shawn of the dead
did Darth Maul speak?
He did speak. But only three lines I think.
He was also The Tick.
Peters impressions are hilariously spot on.
You could get Scrabble tiles and that would allow you to move the letters around on the desk
If the players are within ten points it's called a ' crucial' conundrum .
Hi Jodi & Nick, Peter Serafinowicz played the brother of shaun in shaun of the dead, also alongside Melissa McCarthy in the movie SPY, which also starred Miranda Hart who's been on WILTY
Flatmate, not brother. They went to Uni together
Did you know Nick and Jodi are an anagram of Nikid Jo. Well, I tried. Very Funny and Good Reactions. Keep up the Good work.🧸🧸🐶
For Numbers round it 10 exactly, 7 if you get within 5, and 5 within 10 of the target, above or below the target.
You guys should react to the Peter serafinowicz show. He does a lot of impressions so maybe a good idea to do a bit of research on the people like terry wogan. Another person who does impressions and characters is Steve Coogan.
(except Steve Coogan's always sound the same)
There is both a mobile app and board game of Countdown you can get, might be a fun way of finishing a week with your students.
RAVENOUS for the last countdown.
Go Nick! I got 'feasting as well. As the letters came out i saw the ing, which i love when they come up. I instantly saw fasting, i thought can i make it better, what's better that fasting, obviously feasting is lol. I got it before the clock started.
Nick, you had savour for the last word round, you could have had savoured
Yeah, I was waiting for dictionary corner to mention it but they didn't 🤷♂️
But if he was ravenous I expect he would have eaten it too fast to have savoured it.
I did tell ages ago to whatch Sean lock and you would get hours of material for your blogs . Have a watch of Sean’s stand ups you’ll love um he’s so clever and hilarious. Being teachers have a look at the tiger who came for a pint . His children Xmas pinto reaction is brilliant
Sorry guys, bee sting is hyphenated, but a good attempt.
Who said bee sting?
Corden get's a lot of flak down here for non countdown reasons, but i think he was quite good (talking entertainment, not results) in this.
Also some "Americans" MUST be good at math and stuff. And they can't all work at NASA.
If you want to feel inadequate, watch the real non-comedy show, with the big brain 16-year-olds dropping nine-letter words that you've never heard of.
Good score folks wd both
Don’t be proud of yourself ,you took way more time than 30 seconds🙈
I'm terrible at the words so I just watch Jimmy
Once in a while I get the numbers
Why do you split it up into three parts?
The conundrum at the break is for the audience not the contestants, its to encourage people not to change channel during the break. The contestants do not get any points for it.
Interesting to see that Rachel was always a terrible dancer.
She wasn't that bad (Ann Widdecombe and Tony Adams were terrible), she was the fifth celebrity eliminated that year, but of course Jimmy likes to make fun of her over it. She also finished up marrying her dance partner, so there was a happy ending.
I usually find Joe Wilkinson to be less amusing than tragedy. His appearance in this show is no exception.

You didn’t do really good, you did really well, but we’ll forgive you because you only speak American English.
That's still technically wrong in american English... but also we understood them, so communication successful.
Great job🙂👍
The Morrissey mimicry was very good, unfortunately not knowing the show limits the understanding of the humour.
That Morrissey bit must have been very underwhelming for you. A spot on impression of a British actor in a British sitcom who has the same surname as the first name of a cult UK singer who fronts a cult uk band. None of which has made it over the pond, as far as I am aware. Totally inaccessible for you.
Morrissey is Morrissey's surname and the Smiths were indeed very well known in America, Morrissey as a solo artist is very big in America. Nick and Jodi I'm sure wouldn't have a clue who Neil Morrissey is.
Are you sure they are well known in the states? I just looked it up, number 55 in the album charts was their best showing. Of course that doesn't mean they are not well known, and it sounds like you know more than me on that subject. I just meant that Nick and Jodi would be unlikely to have the inherent knowledge required to get the nuanced humour in that segment. Smart and tuned in though they are
