If I go too long without a Hippo video, I start to feel like I'm dehydrating in a desert. So that you! One thing that I see you're pushing and the timing is perfect is: Don't marry the Hippo. Master it BUT know when to step out to gain advantages in the Modern/Pirc/etc. This is excellent advice and truly appreciated.
Excellent. Recently, I have had a group of games that drive me out of a "purê" Hippo. Most with just one move altered, NF3 in place of Ne2, in the setup. Take Care and bê well, Solomon.
Thanks Solomon I really needed a hit of that hippo juice! For something a little different perhaps a video on ideas when their bishop on g5 actually takes the knight on e7? Thanks again always appreciated
Solomon, thank you for the wonderful Hippo content. I purchased your HIPPO COURSE, and it is excellent. After watching it, I was able to easily increase by 131 points with 8 wins in a row with white and black. Best of all, I was able to understand what to do in the opening and the middle game throughout those victories. Now, I’m using the Hippo exclusively in two daily tournaments, and I’m more comfortable than I’ve ever been.
Thanks Sol. I've noticed that when I do chess tactics it messes me up; because most of them are not in Modern/Hippo lines that I'd usually make. Has that happened to anyone reading this?
Most games will b positional rather than tacticals. The key is not to attack first & wait till pawn structure dictates where to possibly attack. Preserve the bishops & connect rooks as fast as you can. U will b a monster hippo dude.
@pagmatic again, there r positional puzzles that r different than tactical ones! That's where the hippo lines r. I'm talking about facing games where opposition doesn't allow tactical possibilities. If this is never groked, u will always b lost, expecting tactics that never come. Not all games lead to tactics dude...
Yes I like an I know you love the hippo opening just like every one likes there openings and I understand your intent was to go in the hippo but things change and for the most part you show a way but not complete and right now I've just started my chess investigations about openings where things start and stop and or transpose into another and as chief and head programmer of chess investigations I have a method of to get the facts and go to the truth with this result.😊
Many thanks for another instructive Hippo video, Solomon! 💪🏿🦛 Indeed, it's very useful to know what to play when we can't get our full thick-skinned Hippo setup. And since it's more likely that we'll know these positions better than our opponent, we're still gonna get an advantage at best, and an equal game at worst. Not too shabby!

@@WallySoto-yi8fz Thanks; but I'm referring to chess tactics/puzzles; not actual gameplay.
