- The last Sunday of March already, so the Racing Pigeon Markets in Lier today enjoyed its final edition in 2022. There were quite a few birds on sale and we saw an international buying audience attending. The weather was supposed to be sunny, but remained rather chilly all morning. With the daylight savings time kicking in this morning, travellers had to get on the road especially early.

Hi, the market normally starts at 8am, but several vendors and buyers start earlier (as from 6 or 7). I understand quality is subjective, and the breeders all have their own metrics to express it. Market starts near the end of Feb ‘24.

I do not sell these myself. On the market, prices vary from about 20-50€ per bird, depending on the seller.

It will depend on each breeder, how they take care of the birds, how the bloodline is. Many of the breeders show results of past races, hoping to demonstrate that these at good racers indeed. Many sellers have told me that their birds are race winners, but I cannot make any statements about that myself.
