  • The Ontario government's process for choosing protected Greenbelt land to open up for housing development was biased in favour of certain developers and landowners who had timely access to the housing minister's chief of staff, Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk said Wednesday. Premier Doug Ford acknowledged the process could have been better, but said this was necessary to meet the province's housing target of 1.5 million homes.

    If you want to solve the housing crisis, start heavily taxing uninhabited condos and apartments. But they won't do that because those are owned by their donors.

    It's exactly what Doug Ford did with Bill 27 for recruiting companies in Ontario. He favoured big business over small business. His priority is kickbacks from those that benefit HIM the most!

      The fact that your PM is responsible for the shortage of ANY affordable housing is an embarrassment. Don’t blame your premier. He didn’t allow over a million new Canadians into Canada in a year! Ford is doing what he can to develop new homes. You probably want to elect someone who wants to build more wind farms. Oh, wait. Did that already. It was disaster. And Ontarians already showed their response to her governance and ideas

    There is literally so much available land in GTA still. Just around my area there is literally empty lots sitting around with condo proposals but nobody is digging. Why do we need to disrupt the greenbelt? Start building on all the vacant land in the cities!

    There is a ton of land that was already approved for housing. This was not needed at all and served no other purpose than giving big bucks to his buddies. They should be checking his and his families back accounts as well.

    CCPA published a report showing how far our housing crisis reached in terms of wage and rent gap. It also shows how wrong the usual argument of demand and supply relying on private developers. Dumping out in cheap price our precious green belted public properties to private developers who will mostly build expensive condos to maximize profits. On top of it, give them subsidies and tax cuts out of our tax money and build infrastructures for them as well from our tax money again. Instead, with this wasted money, imagine how many public affordable units the provincial government could build, if that happened, Ontario should not have known the current housing crisis and rental crisis where hourly rental wage is almost twice of the minimum wage and still bigger than median wage. Housing is not a commodity, it’s a very basic human right.

    The Wynne Liberal gov't took land out of the greenbelt at least 17 times and no fuss or uproar happened then. The areas were in Clarington, East Gwillimbury, Markham and even wetland adjacent lots in Pickering. One of them became a for a golf course. Should we investigate who benefited from those times? Who were the developers back then?

    Why do these wealthy developers need to bribe Doug Ford when going through the proper process would allow them to legally build housing on the greenbelt? It's puzzling that the RCMP International Crime Division Unit is investigating this, given that they typically handle national threats to Canada. I often hear the term "well-connected developers." To whom exactly are they connected? People or countries that are sanctioned?

  • @johngawrylash7732
    @johngawrylash7732 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Grown the Greenbelt ? It's already green, now you've just made land further away from the city a designated Greenbelt. Kinda defeats the purpose. The reason we have protected areas around the city is so that all the land isn't used for development, at least some of it remains green. And , we didn't even hear about it being sold off until after it was done. First they should publically remove the Greenbelt designation so that ALL developers have a chance to purchase the properties, not just Ford's developer buddies that contributed to his campaign.

    Developers assume all the risk. Takes 15 years to develop a farm field into serviced residential lots. How about lowering the building permit costs that have gone from $15k (2017) to almost $60k (2023) which is passed directly on to consumers. ⚔️Housing versus agricultural land: How many times have we said, that we just have to remove a few more trees for community expansion or only •03% of crop land, to add more housing? Over loading our country w unplanned accommodations for immigrants, is irresponsible governing. Migrants must be put into a wait state, until they have enough accommodations, to settle them comfortably, perhaps. The latest waves of new arrivals, have high expectations of a better life. The UK had a better idea, for a temporary wait state, that does make sense: It’s not practical to keep flooding Canada w more ppl, without being prepared. Nature thins out over crowding. Put too many small pet birds in the same gage, and they will suffocate the weaker birds. Yes we have patience, because we have laws to protect us. But, we know what occurs when ppl some are cornered, due to over crowding: Our wiggle room runs out. Less agricultural land, and more adding more ppl, is an unplanned, and irresponsible approach.🛡️
