It's pretty dumb, 35 years and still not over it. It's interesting how the bullying somehow became a bigger deal because the boy went home attempting to blow himself up with a 45. I've been to worse bullies but I never thought of hurting myself, I bet these bullies from my adolescent years were all worse than Mr. Hindt, but I never wanted justice brought to them, the past is the past, I'm not telling you to get over it easily, but stuff just happened, blame the system not the people, these were teenagers themselves who probably got violent from listening to all those gangsta rap songs, should I hate them or these no good motherfucking gangsta rappers? A lot of people being harsh on this Lance Hindt guy coz he wasn't being apologetic from the very first moment, that's exactly how a normal human being would've reacted to such circumstances, it's easy for you to say the most righteous coz you ain't him. Everybody would've gone helpless and tried to escape in a situation like this let alone him being too successful already to give up on his career for this stupid shit he did 35 years ago which isn't murder or rape but simply beating up some classmate like many of you guys here probably did as a teenager. Everybody being hypocritical here makes me real sick. We gotta blame the system not the people besides it happened 35 years ago. I never once bullied a person in my life, I swear on my own life, I had always been a minority growing up, constantly alienated and picked on not by white people but other aisan kids, I wouldn't be slightly angry now that I thought of them , I just think this is too much for an old person who did something wrong 35 years ago probably trying hard to forget about it. Like you might dump a girl once in a life time, and if she committed suicide, does that mean you should feel guilty for the rest of your life? Maybe many of us would, but should it be the case? He didn't even know this kid went home and tried to end his life, I'm pretty sure he'd feel very sorry if he knew back then.
Jun Chen comparing your situation to someone else’s is pretty ignorant, I get what you’re trying to say, but you don’t know what someone is fully going thru unless you can stand in their shoes physically and you can’t, everyone deals with situations differently, to blame it just on the system is bullshit, the kids know what they are doing, yes you might not have bullied, but bully’s are always bullied by someone else, and the actions repeat themselves, this isn’t a thing that’s taught thru the system, it’s taught by your fucking parents, everyone has a breaking point, it just comes at different times. He is 100% in the right to call the dude out, if you felt someone wronged you enough to push you to the point, you’re going to call them out, he humiliated the prick and it was right, bully’s are feeble minded fucks who at some point need to be put in their place, and it always happens.... it’s just when it happens
His father probably told him to never apologize. But many of them also take it as never make amends or feels sorry for anyone. Sadly many of these “driven” people succeed professionally. I bet he remembered bullying that guy.
Not at all buying what this guy is selling. My BS meter is off the charts. 1) Lance Hindt had no idea this story would go viral, that's why initially he didn't give a crap about Greg Barrett. He didn't think tens of millions around the world would know who he is and for negative reasons. 2) 1983 lawsuit where he admitted in the deposition to severely injuring William Stein and leaving him unconscious in an alley - that's on a whole next level of psycho. 3) Stupid, canned PR statement... (weeks after initial incident) 4) Saw him outside school meeting laughing, smiling and taking selfies. 5) True, devout Christians would never use the "Only God can judge me" card. 6) Multiple witnesses who can not only back up Greg's story, but have their own horror stories 7) Now that sh*t's hit the fan - he's in crisis mode and just now made a big show of wanting to meet with Greg. If Lance really had decent intentions he would have done it much sooner and privately. Getting an extremely bad, douchey vibe from "Dr. Lance Hindt" and would say he's only doing damage control to help stop all the blow back and God forbid he lose his $375,000 a year sweet job! He's the worst kind of guy who will only do what's right if it makes him look good and helps his popularity. The whole "people change" defense is also unacceptable to me. That totally dismisses and marginalizes victims of bullies. Often, the bully gets to go about living their lives, totally forgetting about all their past behavior, and never having to face consequences for their actions. Schools and teachers are only part of the equation, it's the parents' responsibility to actually teach children right and wrong to ensure they do not end up a garbage person like Lance freaking Hindt. This dude makes my blood boil.

Sydno Laser - How do you go from hearing a story about a kid so traumatized he put a gun in his mouth, to laughing when the man points out YOU were the one responsible? Especially when you've had decades to reflect and consider the possibility that some day your past might come back to haunt you?! Consider the man's position. He should have broken into a cold sweat, either dead silent or starting to stammer. But laughing? That says it all about the guy's mindset: "Wwhaaaaa...? Someone actually stood here and told their stupid story of what I did to them when I was "just having fun" with him in grade school? He whined like a bitch about piddly kid stuff like that IN PUBLIC?! What a loser, LOL!" There's a reason no one is buying any of his excuses. "He was a vicious bully. He was a thug. He was a wealthy thug, but he was a thug," said Judge David Carpenter who presides over a criminal court in the state of Alabama. Back in 1982 he attended Taylor High School with Lance Hindt and says he avoided being his victim, but bore witness to the football star's predatory behavior. "He was physically threatening some of my teammates, just menacing them, standing over them and eventually started throwing weight plates at them, 25-pound weight plates at them," said Carpenter. Carpenter says the bullying of weaker classmates by Hindt was frightening, intense and near constant. "He liked to brag about beating up other people and at one point he even bragged about beating up a police officer," said Carpenter.

What an awful, awful person. It’s pathetic how the school board stood behind him. It really shows their stance on bullying, that they fully support it. The victim is courageous for coming forward all these years later. He was mentally abused and physically assaulted yet he didn’t want the superintendent to lose his job. He wanted to prevent bullying, he didn’t want to get revenge. He wanted to handle it in a civil, mature manner. I hope the victim is doing well and I hope Katy ISD has learned something from all of this because, unfortunately, Lance Hindt has not learned anything.
Lance didn't deny anything. The closest he came was to admit that he, like everyone else, was not perfect. Then, he hides behind God, as though being a Christian means that he was incapable of ever being the type of person described earlier.I've seen lots of people like these two men. The one with the square jaw and the hairdo and the good suit. The other not quite so polished nor eloquent. Lance was indignant, and his alleged victim was clearly in pain after 30+ years dealing with the humiliation.I felt the sting of bullying in high school from the captain of the basketball team and all-round big man on campus. Thought he could do no wrong. He ended up working as a waiter for minimum wage and dying of cancer before he was 40. I saw him a few times after high school because we had a lot of friends in common. I went to his funeral, but I don't miss him at all. He was a jerk, and I never felt sorry for him.
Ultimately, you'll be judged by everyone watching this video. The judgment most of them will reach is that you evaded the issue raised by your accuser. Most will surmise that you are probably guilty, and most will judge you unworthy of serving as the superintendent of a school system. They'll see past your evasive attempts to bring God into this, to hide behind your faith, and to hide behind the applause of ignorant people. What they'll feel is undying contempt. And you'll have deserved it.
the judgement he’s talking about follows with justice. no one watching this video can give him the justice for what he did. but Christ died to wash away all our transgressions so we can be made right with God. i question him pulling the God card. but if he’s going to do that he knows what comes with that. God will punish sin and only God knows whether this man really cares or is just trying to save face.

The fact that the victim remembers this his whole life, is proof of how much bullying can damage a person. There were witnesses and you should be ashamed of yourselves. ALL OF YOU!
I was severely bullied when I was in high school in the 1970s, so much so that I quit when I was 16 because I couldn't take it anymore and my education was suffering because of it. I had my head slammed into lockers, was punched in the thigh so hard I couldn't walk, thrown down stairs, stabbed with drafting pencils and compass needles and burned by cigarettes after being hunted down by packs of bullies while trying to walk to my mother's workplace so I didn't have to ride the bus home and be trapped in a metal tube with a couple of the worst ones that lived in the country down the road from us. And they always came in packs, or attacked you from behind when you aren't expecting it, because at their core bullies are cowards. One day I was jumped from behind, knocked to the ground and kicked in the side of the head so hard that I was knocked unconscious for a moment. Thankfully another student's mother was driving by when it happened and helped me into the school. I was taken to our family physician that afternoon because a goose egg sized swelling appeared at my temple and they didn't know how serious it might be. It was a small town and the faculty turned a blind eye, with one "guidance counselor" telling me that it was my turn in the pecking order and that's just how things are. No one was ever reprimanded or punished. As with any kind of child abuse, this kind of thing hangs with you for years, filling you with self-doubt and a sense of worthlessness, even though you know that logically you've done nothing to deserve it. If this kind of thing took place in a school these days the faculty would be brought up on charges, and rightly so. It's not about just shrugging it off and going about your business and ignoring it, or putting on your "big boy pants" or anything people try to excuse this kind of behavior with by pushing the responsibility off onto the victim. It is about mental and physical abuse targeted to specifically harm and sometimes kill others by pushing them to suicide due to pure hate. And this superintendent has the same attitude the faculty did where I went to school. If you let them get away with it they will continue. Who knows how many lives he has ruined. He should get no severance pay and should never be allowed to have anything to do with children again in his life. He shows no signs of remorse or ownership of his prior behavior. The mark of a true sociopath.
Call them out and find a law firm that will take this on contingency(no fee unless you win) for emotional distress. All the courts can say is no. Its worth a shot
This is why homeschooling and school choice is so important, though in small towns your options are much more limited. I would live below poverty level to move to a larger area where my kids wasn't canceled, than stay in a toxic small town. At least in a larger area, you can have a new start.
Imagine bulling a kid that badly that decades later it still affects him and your response is “I’m shocked! I have spent years doing amazing work!! Only God can judge me!” Rather than “I am deeply ashamed of who I was in high school and have spent years trying to make up for it with the work I do. I regret my actions and always will - I plan to do something I should have done years ago and that is apologise to each and every person I hurt personally and make amends” (or something to that effect) and THEN resign. This man chose to take ZERO accountability, didn’t apologise ONCE and refused to even acknowledge his victims. INFURIATING.

The excuse provided by every P.O.S. bully: "I know I'm not a perfect person. "... Then, the inevitable appeal to "his lord and savior" for cheap forgiveness while offering no apologies, recompense, or contrition. He's nauseating.
"I have spent my whole life trying to make things better" but you tend to forget the most important part: admit when you're wrong, admit when you have acted wrong and when you haven't done as much as you can with your power.
I think we can all guess what actually happened in that bathroom all those years ago. Dr. Bully seems awfully guilty to me. And that pour man that poured his heart out that he bullied seems like a righteous dude. Just my $0.02🤷♂️
He's feeling sorry for himself rather than asking forgiveness from the man he tormented and assaulted. God wont forgive him if he can't even ask for forgiveness of his past behavior. Creepy guy.
“I was a dumb teen back them. I’m so sorry for all the hurt I’ve caused you. I hope you can forgive me someday.” Could you imagine the kind of respect he would receive? Hopefully he at least talked to the guy in private. This kind of restitution is a requirement if he’s a truly repentant Christian.
20 second ovation of applause from the parents, for a man that was given a $700,000 annual severance pay for being exposed as a evil man working as a superintendent on a school board
No apology? Just words to fire people up towards your agenda (the agenda being your own image). If Greg's words weren't enough then any more of mine are pointless
Any person that bullys and doesn't repent and make restitution, that person will face judgement from Heavenly Father. I wouldn't want to be in this guy's shoes. He will stand condemned before the Lord.
You can wrap a pretty bow around it and still turn a blind eye but it still happens an although people bring attention to it it still happens. I a bully is a superintendent he'll only deal with it if it makes their image look bad

Cat Weazle ... I real Christian would not have done what he did.
And thats whats wrong with religious people. So many of you think you can treat people any way you want... Cuss people out, Beat people, Hell.. maybe even kill people. And then all you have to is "ask for forgiveness". And that is one of many reasons that drives people away from religion.. such as myself.
And you all speak of acceptance.. But yet, if anybody doesnt see things the way you guys do.. Or even does something as simple as saying a word you dont like.. You are the first to push them away, and look at them as an 'outcast'.. But at the same time, try to shove what you believe down their throat.
You cant be 'half-ass'.. Especially to God.

@2:04 A decent, normal human being would've apologized outright and admitted their wrongdoing. There's no shame in that.
FOH with his hesitant, non-apology.
Yes, Lance Hindt, does not get it. He must apologized and should reach out and find ways to mend what he did.
3 minutes and half of hollow BS. Now there's no doubt in my mind this man was and still is an ahole
I never once bullied a person in my life, I swear on my own life, I had always been a minority growing up, constantly alienated and picked on not by white people but other aisan kids, I wouldn't be slightly angry now that I thought of them ,
I just think this is too much for an old person who did something wrong 35 years ago probably trying hard to forget about it.
Jun Chen he works for a school board, that’s why people care that he was a bully and full on assaulted a kid
(weeks after initial incident)
4) Saw him outside school meeting laughing, smiling and taking selfies.
5) True, devout Christians would never use the "Only God can judge me" card.
6) Multiple witnesses who can not only back up Greg's story, but have their own horror stories
7) Now that sh*t's hit the fan - he's in crisis mode and just now made a big show of wanting to meet with Greg.

Well said. 100% I hope this story stays relevant for decades to motivate more people to stand up to worthless bullies like Lance
“don’t use my name in vain” this man ignores that to the heart
No Apology. No acknowledgement what he did was wrong. In fact, he actually started *boasting* about how he had a great job and how he thought he was working for a great school district.
He should have explained how that sort of thing would not be tolerated in the school district he works for, but instead he pandered for applause...
I can actually appreciate how some people can laugh inappropriately when their feeling inside is not one of humor. But this guy's statement leads me to think his laughter was genuinely reminiscent of good ol' days...
What a loser, LOL!"
There's a reason no one is buying any of his excuses. Just goes to show though, how often the exact WRONG sort of people attain power, because they seek it out deliberately. Sick.

No sorry and Immediately defending himself. That bully mentality did not disappear

This is why bullying in schools exist- pathetic.
Most who clapped are mostly his lickers.
Saying “I’m not perfect” does not absolve you of any crime.
You're a bigger person than I am for going to the funeral...
hope you spat in his coffin
I'm sorry you were bullied, and I'm very thankful that you seem strong and clear from that toxicity.
Keep being strong, mate!
Why did you go ?
He never ONCE apologized for what he did. Not only that, when he resigned, he was given a $789,000 severance. Long story short, the bad guy won.
More like unworthy of serving as a human on earth.
This is prophetic. That contempt manifested into forcing his resignation.
the judgement he’s talking about follows with justice. no one watching this video can give him the justice for what he did. but Christ died to wash away all our transgressions so we can be made right with God. i question him pulling the God card. but if he’s going to do that he knows what comes with that.

I think everyone was shocked, mostly by your reaction of laughing at a serious situation. Bullying is not a laughing matter.
"I have spent my whole life trying to make things better" but you tend to forget the most important part: admit when you're wrong, admit when you have acted wrong and when you haven't done as much as you can with your power.
Why is it so hard to acknowledge your wrong doing and ask for forgiveness?
Ego.
I think we can all guess what actually happened in that bathroom all those years ago. Dr. Bully seems awfully guilty to me. And that pour man that poured his heart out that he bullied seems like a righteous dude. Just my $0.02🤷♂️

No apology? Just words to fire people up towards your agenda (the agenda being your own image). If Greg's words weren't enough then any more of mine are pointless
You can't judge someone for the things they did when they were a kid, but the fact that he didn't acknowledge Greg's pain is scary.
Yes you can. Especially when he laughed in his face.
Any person that bullys and doesn't repent and make restitution, that person will face judgement from Heavenly Father. I wouldn't want to be in this guy's shoes. He will stand condemned before the Lord.
not buyin it...
He's so fake. He doesn't even look sorry. He looks so proud of himself.
You can wrap a pretty bow around it and still turn a blind eye but it still happens an although people bring attention to it it still happens. I a bully is a superintendent he'll only deal with it if it makes their image look bad
