@ completely understandable but he did also mention he already bought the substrate for the 2k in case he does do it and the bulk heads. So instead of replanting the 2k with the plants and new soil he can just replant the 700 with new substrate and same plants with more piranhas. I’m a huge fan of the idea but for me it doesn’t make sense coming from a longtime king of diy fan.
1. I hate the idea of ever moving fish into a smaller aquarium than they’ve been able to enjoy so far. Unless of course they’re being quarantined. Makes me sad.
1. Yes, but you’re losing 6 inches of height, which is where your Arrowana would swim therefore, now you’re pushing your other fish that would swim below him into a smaller confined space. So I think if your Arrowana swims above all of them, pushing all the rest of the fish into a smaller space they’re the ones that are going to suffer in a change but the Arrowana will continue to swim in the upper range not really affecting him.
1. Please don’t do it. Put the piranhas in the 16 ft tank and put the Geophagus and Altum Angelfish in the 700 G tank. I really think the Geopgagus and Altum are in the wrong tank.
1 Don't do it without further considerations. i love the way the tanks look and work now. plus some other issues I can see are: 1 if you put in the bulkheads would you not be loosing more water height and pushing the arrow down more into the Oscars area? 2. Having pipes going straight across with not only be ugly but you will get tired of having to duck all the time. 3. if you need to do anything in the 2,000g you'll now have to get inside of it with the piranhas.
1, if the 2k gallon stocking can go in the 700 the the 100 piranha can be in the 700. Also the planted success in the 700 is an isolated system. Once you join all that together things will change. Hell you could always dismantle the 700 using the panels to make a bigger plywood on almost the same foot print.
1 i agree with a lot of people when they say that there will most likely be aggression issues with the oscars and the Arowana due to loosing the height that keeps them in different parts of the tank. If you do decide to go ahead with this i would suggest reducing the number of fish from the 2k tank and monitor the Oscars for the first 1-2 months
I started watching you 9 years ago cause of your DIY videos on fluidised sump filters. Now I suddenly came across your videos again years later and your channel has grown so much and youre still doing aquariums! Love that TH-cam has been able to support your love and hobby
1 as I am not a fan of piranha in the first place . Could but the piranha in the 16ft can do a planted community with the fish from the 16ft . Means you could have more species that use different layers in the water collum
1. Not a good idea. You can leave piranha tank alone. Start adding plant substrate on top of the existing plants and you can keep the 700 long term. Just add more piranha to the existing tank.
Not a good idea mate. The Arowana NEEDS that extra height. Think about why you moved him from the 700G in the 1st place. Those pipes will pi$$ you off in no time too, even if you are only a little fella.
You're gonna do what you've gonna do, personally 100 is to many, the Piranhas you have now haven't finished growing yet with Red-bellied piranha (Pygocentrus nattereri) average being 30-35 cm (12-14 inches) upto 50 cm (20 inches) being possible, i'd say no, if they only got to 15cm (6 inches) then maybe. Also if you're planting it, in two years regarding the the plants, you're just going to hit the same problem as you have now, but have way more fish. Also having the monster fish in the 700 gallon, you've been there done that, you didn't like it, especially for your Arowana and Rays, that why they was put back into the 2000g, so whats changed.
Nothing of that sort will happen, they'll most likely get terrified and hide in the plants or hardscape if an entire human falls into the tank and flops around in the water
🔥❤️🔥 if they are basically the same footprint, except one is 6 inches taller. I mean I would love to see 100 piranha in a single aquarium... But...... I'm gonna be behind anything you do brother. ❤️🔥🔥
2 - this is what we want as aquarium hobbyists! Push the boundaries and most importantly... DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO!! We can all tell this idea is getting you excited.
@@juststuart for sure. I also think it comes across in his content, must more enjoyable when he's got that bouncing off the walls expression in his face and tone!
1. Still connect all the tanks. But instead of going out the side of the 700 go out the back and have the pipe go into the quarantine room so it’s more hidden, as well as out of the way.
1 - Having the piranha (with those stunning green plants) at eye-level (relative to the 2000g ofcourse) looks much better. Plus they may get more skiddish and stressed seeing your legs and body from the low 2000g aquarium. This could cause aggression amongst the piranha. And as someone else commented, you could redo the 700g (just the soil primarily) and add another 70 or so piranha. Maybe you can still connect those 2 monster aquariums for dilution though... but I know you wont be able to stand having the pipe hanging in the open (and it could be dangerous?... I dont know). And as someone else commented, that 6 inches lost in height is alot when taking into consideration the asian arowana, oscars and so on. This is just my thought processes and I dont have nearly the amount of experience and knowledge that you do in this hobby and with bigger fish and aquariums but I thought I'd share this to try and help you come to a decision.
1- I think the bulkheads across the path would look kind of out of place, I think it would be an awesome idea to build a large sump in the backroom instead of linking the 2 tanks.
Whats actually crazy is all of us thinking, we can talk you in or out of it. My only question is could you run the and up to ceiling hieght and back down. Almost future proofing
1. Dont do it if you need to rip up the soil just do that and make it better 100 piranhas doesnt make much sense when you already have 20 plus i think you will come to regret it . But then again its your tanks do what makes you happy 😊
Use the 700 for the 100 piranha. It's plenty of room, just do a rescape. You're always saying that you think about putting in more guppies, so just do the piranha and keep it simple.
1. Joey: «this is my 700g plantes prianha tank. It will stay like this forever. It’s perfect” Also Joey… Hahaha just kidding. I vote 1 but we all know it’s impossible to talk Joey out of these things😂
1, Instead community planted tank with large community of bosemani rainbows, costea tetra (Most amazing schooling behavior fish) and other colorful plants and fishes would be great. As this big pirahana tank will get very non-exciting very soon. Would suggest just revamping the old pirahna tank
If you want to do it it’s your aquarium do it! Just sounds like a lot of moving fish around that are not good with moves. Piranhas with biting through nets and each other.
1 you have two beautiful tanks the monster fish look great where they are as the piranha look great were they are. I'm not sure if you just want to be the only one to have a 100 piranha tank. Just saying
Maybe you can get a aquarium and do a top sump so you dont have to dril the tanks. Maybe you can set it up with a plant filter and stop doing water changes
I would relocate the 700 instead of putting pipes across the pathway to the feed etc. Combining them isn't a bad idea but it sets you up for a massive collapse if something went wrong. Now that I have put my spin on it do as you please we will enjoy it anyway.
1. You know I initially was all excited and was going to hit 2....then I thought for 5 seconds and ascertained the logistics of what you are trying to do aren't worth the end result. Add 20-30 piranha in your existing 700 and call it a day. It's looking perfect. Don't fix what isn't broken
1- I personally don’t think it’s a great idea. The fish in the 2k are gonna stress in the 700. You’ve put them in a smaller system before and always move them back to the 2k because they lose color and become listless. Especially the Arrowana. That top 6” is where the Arrowana swims. Taking that 6” off is going to push him down into the swimming space of the other fish and I just don’t think he’d do well with it, nor the Oscar’s.
Some years ago, you got rid of your automatic overflow/water change system saying that was not very useful since you had to spend time in the gallery anyway. So what changed now, for you to think about it again ?
1- don’t do it. Doesn’t make sense if they’re the same footprint why not just put 100 piranhas in the 700 gallon?
I think because of the current issue with the 700s aqua soil. He said he needs to rip it up and replenish anyway.
I agree

Joeys OCD has kicked in and going to change not one but 2 tanks and in 6 to 8 months from now when he regrets it, it’s going to be our fault.
not just OCD. This is a manic phase episode.
And this is exactly why I took a break from his channel.
yall are taking this mans aquarium plans so personally 😭
1. If the tanks are almost the same size as you say, why not use the 700 for 100 piranha?
that would be mayhem lmao way too many piranhas
I think because of the current issue with the 700s aqua soil. He said he needs to rip it up and replenish anyway.
3 build a new plywood matching size to the 2k and turn the current piranha one into a saltwater predators
I would go for option 2 but if 3 is also a option I go for 3
2, although building a separate 2000g tank and putting in something like 300 piranha would be even better.
300 is way too much
@@curgunner true, was just trying to emphasize how many more he could put if he did a separate tank for just piranha

I would just rip up the 700 and replenish the substrate and add the Piranha back in it. You can then still add more piranha if you want to.
1. Just my opinion, but I don't think the Piranha are interesting enough to justify dedicating the entire 2000G to them.
Switch the 16ft aquarium fish with the piranha tank
