The CRKT Snap Lock folder took the knife world by storm when it won the Most Innovative Knife Award at the 2004 Blade Show. CRKT and designer Ed Van Hoy are excited to revive this popular design and bring back the 180° swing opener. Take your EDC game up a notch with the tried and true CRKT Snap Lock.
The Snap Lock was designed by custom knife maker Ed Van Hoy for comfortable everyday carry. The Rotating Snap Lock (RSL) has a cam locking system with two thumb wheels for ambidextrous use. Just press down on a thumb wheel and rotate the blade. The blade can rotate a full 360 degrees with the clip removed, or 180 degrees in either direction with the clip in place. The RSL Snap Lock knife offers stainless steel construction with a durable bead blast finish.

I know this is an old video, but I have to scratch my head at why such a unique knife, with one of the most innovative opening/locking mechanisms on the market today was relegated to a sub $100 price point, with a poor steel choice? Did Ed Van Hoy ever make custom versions of these? If he did I bet those went for +$500 all day every day.

Knife comes packaged as right hand tip up pocket carry, but three screws can be undone on the handle on each side to make it left hand pocket carry.

why does it look so awkward to open?

Not exactly the best way to open it. Takes a *little* practice though. This is an old knife. I've had one for at least 15 years.
EDIT: Looked it up. Correction... 13 years.

Sea Pig Same here. Got it as a gift its first year out. Still have it. Neat knife and I actually like the bevel angle of the grind.

LOL 😆 That's probably the most unsafe knife opening system I've ever seen..here, push this, rotate that and let the sharp blade run along your palm....genius idea 🙄
