Totally understand your feelings watching caravan banger racing - my son insists on us watching the stock cars at Yarmouth Stadium every time we stay at Gt Yarmouth CAMC - always great show but sad seeing old vans destroyed.
Hi Andy, something very different and unusual. It's a pity to see caravans broken up like that, I'm sure there's a market for them in restoration and parts. Terrible day for it but you managed to get some good footage and it was nice to get a look at the sport of caravan racing.
Old caravans can still be useable. I have just come back from a trip and came across a Lunar Meteorite which the owner had had for over 30 years. I showed me round ir and it was in very good condition.
Best things for them considering that most were left abandoned on sides of the road with no furniture inside. A great spectacle for us banger fans & a great crowd pleaser. Looked like a very wet warton meeting
Just catching up on this one. I think this is great journalism Andy. Obviously you have a point of view but restrain yourself from outright condemnation. I enjoyed the melancholia of the entire piece, almost without any joy save a small child cheering on the wanton destruction. This film should be nominated for a best short at the BAFTAs! My own view is that in some ways I don’t like to see classic cars, and I suppose caravans, getting smashed up. But everything has its lifespan and perhaps it’s more noble to go out in a blaze of glory rather than sitting in a garden going green and rotting away. Who knows?
Glad you liked it Ity wasnt an easy one like I said at least there not sat rotting - and your right a lifespan - it did give watchers a lot of pleasure - I dont know if its BAFTA material it took 4 hours to edit up but thank you for the great comments Andy

It is a sad sight and manyu have gone like this - in the 60's they used to burn 20's and 30's caravans - some exce3llent ones to - all gone

Thing is Kevin the parts were binned - what a pity back in the 70's they used to do this type of thing with new caravans - UK Caravan Road Rally!
