I forgot to mention in the video, this happened a few months ago and we have been helping her ever since. It's a complicated thing but a lot of people have stepped into help her. The right people have the right info to investigate the scammers too.
You created a system so obnoxious and infurriating that you've made scammers *give you* information about their victims and open doors to help them. Amazing stuff
@@RJnottheraccoon yeah, having watched hours and hours of Kit's videos the "he says I'm like his mother" thing made me so sad. It's remarkable how we watch the videos and think "wow that's so cringe, how could anyone think they're being sincere when they say that?" but this poor woman genuinely thought Abhi was a surrogate son
a lot of the time i feel quite empty after watching these as its pretty hard hitting watching the older generations lose everything and be none the wiser but fuck man this one might be the worst for that feeling
I used to work at a shady cheque cashing store that had a Western Union in it. One day a little old lady came in asking me to send money to her grand son over seas. I asked when was the last time she spoke with him on the phone and she said it's been about 4 months but she knew he was going on a trip, and according to an email, got injured and needed money for the hospital there. I told her it was a sketchy request and to call her grandson and see how he's doing first. She left without sending money. She came back three days later with a cake she had baked for me, and asked if I could leave the secured area because she wanted to give me a hug. This was about 15 years ago and I'll always remember it. Thanks for looking out for the people Kitboga, you're a genuine hero. 🙏
@@didndido3638 So you see this guy's channel and all the scammers out there but you think this person working at a check cashing place wouldn't see the result of all this scamming? It's common unfortunately.

Kit's face after talking with abhi for 20 seconds was heartbreaking. You could tell he was so hopeful that maybe his gut feeling was wrong, but at that point he knew there was no doubt this guy had only bad intentions
My stomach dropped as soon as I heard her say that Abhi says she's "like a mother to him" or whatever. That sort of comment always a huge red flag for emotional manipulation.
@@rae3432You can see it in Kitboga's face too as soon as that phrase was spoken. My heart dropped too. These people deserve everything bad that's coming to them.
This channel has gone from “haha funnie scammer rage” to a whole team of people connected in places that matter who can genuinely help the most vulnerable people out there. It’s so sad that Sarah didn’t have anyone who could help her, but I’m so glad that she got the help she needed from you and your team, and I wish all of you the best. Incredible.
I think someone in Kits family was a victim and his original goal was spitefull revenge.. you can tell in his earliest vids especially with how he would have "reveals" where he would shit talk them. It must've been cathartic until he started to see a different path forward and branched out to other people that did similar anti-scammer stuff, the collaborations really pushed all of these people into a more effective way to not only get revenge on scammers but to actually help victims in a more direct way.
@@Guts-the-Berserker yeah exactly, it’s really good to see that it’s just not one guy wasting as much of their time as possible, now there’s even more he can do to help
Oh god, how you handled that call man. Pure class. You were so damn careful about not splitting her world wide open but let her slowly and softly come to the realization. You're a class act, that I say from the heart.
People don't want to feel stupid or believe they are wrong, so will stone wall and not engage with someone telling them something they don't want to hear. You're so right. His way of gently probing what she believes to be true and then asking the scammers what is true and picking apart their story gently so she comes to her own conclusions was great. The moment she indicated she wanted to end the call, he was wishing her a good night. She had a lot to think over and probably needed a few private hours to come to terms properly with what was happening. I have no doubt that if she had decided she didn't want to talk to him any more, he would have backed off, but made sure she knew how to find trustworthy help herself and not to take calls at face value.
Sarah sounded exhausted immediately, like she already knew something was wrong and didn't want to admit it :( this poor woman. glad shes getting help out of this situation

@@Peekaboo-Kitty plot twist: that you insurance you've been paying for 10 years would actually never pay out in your case... They just don't know about computers and they trust a tech to know best
The "you're like my mother" thing was particularly heartbreaking. Think how often Kit, when speaking in Granny Edma voice, gets precisely that line from a scammer. And while we all have a laugh, this video is a reminder of how many real senior citizens actually fall for the various lines and hooks. Again, heartbreaking.
Its because they're lonely, and will confide with litterally anyone who will listen and engage. Yes, its heartbreaking, but the really sad thing is that they are in that position in the first place.
I work for a company that these disgusting people imitate and I speak with victims of these scams all the time . The calls are absolutely heartbreaking .
The federal government does a horrible job at protecting these vulnerable seniors, such as warning and educating them. Thank you for your hard work Kitboga.
Imagine if our tax dollars went to creating programs like this, but with federal funding and authority behind them. How many people's livelihoods would be saved? Imagine everything Kitboga and people like him do but on a national scale. This is what we could have if the people in power cared about their citizens.
I agree. We get an open border for our children to be vicitmized and a prelude to a nuclear war instead. It doesn't look good. I actually repented of my sin. That's not a joke. None of what I am seeing makes any sense and I concluded that our time is short.
In general, there's very little prevention or education. I'm super knowledgeable about scams and even I had one that was super convincing---claiming to be my bank's fraud department (which I've gotten legitimate calls from them before), he knew my full name and everything, but the thing that tipped me off is that he did the whole "look at the phone number on the back of your card, I'm calling from that number" and I told him, "No, you're not???" He forgot to put the correct spoof number. 😂 And then he started asking for my bank account login info over the phone and I was like, nope, now I definitely know you're a scammer, I'm gonna hang up and call my actual bank and he started panicking and tried to keep me on the phone with dire warnings about "the fraudsters are currently in your account" and I just hung up on him after calling him a scumbag. But I called my bank to let them know they had someone targeting their users, the scammers using pretty specific info, and they were like, "Oh, well that's too bad." 😠 My credit union is usually pretty good but that made me angry.
A lot of seniors end up screwed for various reasons from the useless, evil systems in place. The government is one big scam, that’s why they don’t do anything about it. They are responsible for it.
This situation speaks to a much deeper issue, that is the isolation of many of the elderly. My dad has been a handyman for over a decade, and one of the recurring themes that I observed both with my time working with him, and with his stories I hear on almost on a weekly basis, is that isolated seniors are DESPERATE for connection, from the repairman, a waiter, bank clerk, the support agent, or really anyone who cares, or as in this case, pretends to care. This makes them ripe for victimizing at the hand of scammers of all types, be that the car repair guy, the tech scammer, or even an unscrupulous relative (in the case of one of last weeks sad stories, an addict grandson). Its the sad world we live in, but just remember, YOU could be Kit to a victim near you, all it needs is a little kindness.
This comment needs to be pinned at the top. Elderly persons are trapped within a cultural mythology created about them; rather than seeing them as people with the same needs as everyone else, they are framed as "seniors" who "retire" from society to their own world - and the myth cons people into thinking this is even a reward of some kind. Instead, people are disposed of as they age and abandoned. In the area of scams, I have seen older persons literally say "at least it was someone to talk to" when recounting being scammed or used by someone else.
Yeah this I feel might be the real solution for prevention. Some seniors might not have kids or the kids maybe are too busy with their own life that they barely have time to reach out to their parents or parent to check on them or if they do, the parent doesn't want to burden them with problems.
@@ignotumperignotius630 Not really. You can still visit once a week or every other week for instance. My aunt made it a thing where she would call my grandmother everyday and talk for an hour or more and this even went through my aunts early 60s. I have another aunt who also lives near my grandparents when they were alive at the time and she would visit them with my uncle. It really depends on the adult if they spend time with their elderly parents. Some don't either because they were raised badly by the parent that they just want to ignore them due to past trauma or the person just became a dickhead and doesn't bother to care even if the parents reach out.
@@ignotumperignotius630 This right here, this is where the real problem lies. I'm very certain there are a lot of seniors who fall for these scams who have lived good lives and tried their best for their kids, but when society itself pushes and pushes and pushes for people to move out, own their own home, live in the rat race in the big city, become part of the corporatist machine, it leads to a lot of the good seniors being left out to dry.
Saw an 80+ year old woman with a walking cane tonight at a Kroger in West Virginia trying to buy 3-4 gift cards. They denied her at the counter and kept the items. As I left with my cart I saw her in the parking lot on the phone frantically talking to someone. She clearly wanted to go back in and try to buy them again. Approached her with a smile and say, “Good evening, maam. Is everything okay?” She looked at me like she wanted help but couldn’t ask for it. I didn’t want to make her feel uncomfortable, but I knew something was wrong. Went to a cop stationed there and asked if he could help me try to figure out the situation. She was in her car about to leave (probably to another store) and I identified her. Cop stopped her as she was still on her phone and started dialogue. Im going to follow up tomorrow and see what came of it. I wouldn’t have known to be suspicious of this without you Kitboga. You might’ve helped save her tonight❤ you’re the GOAT
I've been so used to hearing Kit's "granny" voice with happy demeanor, he always makes it sound fun and like the granny is having fun whenever she's talking to scammers but hearing real victim's exhausted voice immediately hit me. The victim just mentioning “you’re like my mother”- I immediately started tearing up, so often I see in kits videos how they use this lines to gain trust and it’s always a laughing situation and cringe for us but for a senior citizen its taken at face value…that’s heartbreaking, it’s disgusting.

My heart breaks for Sarah, you ask her about a friend or family member she trusts, and the one person she can think of is Abhi...so glad she has good people looking out for her now.
My heart broke a little listening to her. She really put on a brave face. Just imagine if the only person you trust, is a scammer 1000s of miles away, that you’ve never actually met. That lovely lady must be so lonely and therefore vulnerable. No wonder they scammed her for 7 years. She must have confided many things to her “friend” and that has inevitably made it even easier to betray her. If only one person cared for her, this would have ended much sooner.
I am an older woman. Often we do not tell our families such things. I believe they read the obituary notices in either the newspaper or the funeral homes. In a bereaved support group of about 15 people, 2 women were nearly scammed, one a romantic scam, the other a "your grandson is in trouble" scam. The "grandson" scam was stopped by a neighbor whom she called to drive her to the bank for an "emergency." The romance was caught by her daughter when the woman read her the beautiful email she had received. It turned out to be the exact same note that her friend's mother had received.

We recently discovered that my grandmother has been getting scammed since her husband died by someone claiming to be a retired vet in the UK who needed money for surgeries. She's basically destitute and at end of life care and it's been a devastating experience to uncover. The emotional end of this video completely broke me, thank you for what you do and thank you for protecting people from these vile human beings.
I know my grandmother had people on her computer. After watching this I'm starting to piece things together and wondering if she got scammed and is embarrassed to come forward.
@dukeofthedance8062 he has both sympathy and empathy, because empathy just means you can understand and share their perspective, but without sympathy that is all it is, a tool for understanding, often times a good detective will use it as a way to think like a criminal to stop criminals for example, but here he clearly feels bad for this woman and is therefor also sympathetic. So you are right there is a difference and sympathy is empathy + compassion whereas empathy doesn't mean you always feel compassion.
My parents were THIS close to becoming victims. Both in their mid 80s. They were at the supermarket with gift cards in their hands. Thankfully a quick thinking and informed cashier realized what was happening and told them to hang up. I was seething. I actually started doing some light scam baiting myself. Nothing close to KB's level, but I've pissed off a few. Thank you for all you do.
The hardest I've gone against them is playing dumb for 5 minutes and then pretending to go get my credit card and just setting the phone down and forgetting about it . One guy stayed on the line for a good 20 minutes before I moved the phone to the receiver to make that amazing feedbacky screeching noise landline phones do.
At least your parents are reasonnable. My father have been sending money to a random person on the internet for month now, and block me when I tell him it's a scam. I don't know what to do anymore
@@dannnmerkle7930 For a lot of these places they're not allowed to hang up the phone/get in trouble on their end if there isn't confirmation that the con has failed. So putting them on hold for 20 minutes is a good way of doing it, lol. Best way would be to have some kind of muffled, looping recording of background noise , that'd keep them on hold for hours.

Walked in on my mom putting iTunes gift card codes into a word document while connected to one of these scammers. Took me a couple minutes to convince her to stop, and of what was happening. Long story short, they had called months earlier and set her up with some security BS, and had now called back because they needed to refund her. Then they did the usual thing where they "accidentally refund too much", and she needed to send it back to them with gift cards. I was able to call apple to freeze all the cards, before the scammers autioned them off, and get Walmart to issue a refund authorized by Apple. It was abou $3k in gift cards. Lost about $200, probably were auctioned, but at least we didn't lose it all.
I love the way Kit handled the situation and spoke to the woman. Most scam reveals I've stumbled upon, the baiter would yell through the phone "THIS IS A SCAM THEY'RE TAKING YOUR MONEY YOU'RE NEVER GETTING IT BACK" just bringing more panic and confusion upon the senior.
I was so nervous throughout this video that Sarah wouldn’t believe Kitboga. After all, she considered Abhi her most trusted friend and she’d known him for years. If Abhi had told her that Kitboga is a scammer, she might have refused to talk to him. Or, if Kitboga told her that Abhi was a scammer too quickly and without gentleness, she might lose her trust for Kit. It’s such a delicate scenario.
My grandma was scammed recently via the phone. The same is straightforward: "Your grandson has done something illegal. We need some money to cover it without any consequences." Thank you for your content. Be safe, and greetings from Ukraine!
Someone tried something similar with my grand-aunt. They called and said that her grandson had been in a car accident and that he'd killed someone. They put on some guy for about 3 seconds who said simply "Gran gran, I'm sorry" and then it switched back to the other guy. Thing is, while she does have a grandson, he NEVER called her that, but I wouldn't know that until later. Anyway, the guy claimed he was a lawyer and that the initial fee was $15,000. She apologized and said that she didn't have that kind of money. Which was true. The guy on the phone hung up. We thought that was weird and called my cousin and asked if he was okay. Very confused, he said yeah and then we explained. He told us it was a scam. Seems a weird thing to say "Good thing she was broke." but that at least means she didn't lose anything.
Maybe. But he/she has enough humour and self awareness to make it sound funny. And that was the only other goal besides stating how much the video moved him/her in This age. ;)
The saddest part for me is that she’s all alone in the world. Luckily, by some twist of fate, Kit came into her life to save her. I help and educate many elderly people in my community who are alone, not tech savvy and could easily fall for these scams. 😢

It's insane how Sarah instantly trusted this other 'dude' who was trying to rescue her from all the scammers - even though this time it was a genuine guy with genuine intentions - Kit even sounded like a scammer to me when he tried to explain it to her, because that's what the the earlier scammers probably did too...
most likely he cut out the whole part of the call where he earned her trust by explaining who he was and what he did and told her how to verify that info. Also, we are pretty good at picking up on when someone is lying to us or being honest. In this situation you'd want to be as open and forthcoming as possible and Kit prob did a good job. The old lady was desperate for someone to talk to it sounded, she most likely knew she was being scammed and went along with it anyway because she wanted that social connection so much with another person. Kit gave her that social connection and she probably traded the scammers for him
Yeah same, I think even he knew it as he was speaking as he tried to choose his words very carefully, but it really did sound like the kind of things they would say too, because they want to sound like they are genuinely trying to help you. I MUST tell this story.. Today I saved an old man from being scammed!! I was at the checkout in target and an old man came up to the cashier and asked where the gift cards were. Agreed. It is an indicator of being human. Unlike psychopaths, they lack the emotions that make us human eg sympathy, empathy, guilt, remorse, and taking responsibility for ones own crimes. They just can't do it. I deal with romance scammers and it is my beleif that the young boys who are trained to be romance scammers are training to be psychopaths. They have been the cause of so many suicides by betrayed victims and they just don't care. Just yesterday there was a news report of another suicide after a teenage boy was targeted in a romance scam, quite likely using photos of a porn actress as a lure, he sent photos to the scammer and the scammer threatened to release the photos to all in his friends list. The scammer was -of course- traced to Nigeria. His own country has arrested him and who knows what will happen from that. They are very light on their criminal scammers and most who are caught are given a plea deal, no prison and pay a fine. The government benefits from the proceeds of crime. It is all viewable on the website for the EFCC, the plea deals, the fines, the charges. I was so shocked when I read just how easy those criminals have it. Sent back out to do it again to some other poor victim.

the way you explained it to her was so nice and slow. after 6-7 years of being scammed having some random guy tell her that her closest friends were scammers would have an extremely negative reaction. getting someone to understand theyre being taken advantage of is not an easy thing to do.
This was the biggest thing. If he had pushed hard, she would have gone to the "safety" of the scammers since she thought they were her friends. He had to be so careful, and I"m actually kind of shocked she was able to come around. It has got to be difficult to confront one's own feeling of shame for falling for something, that many people simply refuse to do it.
I can't comprehend 7 years of being scammed... and believing these people were there to help you. I am so sorry that she got scammed for so long, and it's rage inducing that they do this. I wish her nothing but the best. Thank you for helping others and teaching people about these scum bags and what they do. I hope one day the Indian police (and police across the world) will do more to stop these scammers.
You have to understand what it means to be old. Imagine all you family is gone or far away. Your friends are no longer around. Your spouse is gone. You are truly alone and each year you feel more and more disconnected from a ever changing world you feel less and less able to understand. At that age you are lucky if anyone wants to even talk to you and when they do, it's the greatest feeling to feel connected and wanted. Most seniors deal with crippling isolation. In fact back in the day there was the Home Shopping Network, and seniors would call in and buy stuff just to talk with the agents and became friends with those agents. The old people didn't need the stuff but they liked talking with someone that cared to talked with them. Scammers also figured this out and exploit this loneliness. Hopefully this helps your understanding how a desperately lonely person can have blinders to obvious red flags we would see. Happens in abusive relationships too where a partner can't see what everyone else sees because of the mind games played on the victim.
@@SSingh-nr8qz And on top of this, scammers do use social engineering to earn their trust. Whoever says you have to be an idiot to be scammed is dead wrong. They truly are skillful in that. I think the "victim" is one of those scammers. "She" sounds like she’s using an old woman's voice. They're pranking or trying to scam Kitboga. Red flag @19:39 : Why would this supposed old woman point out the obvious fact that she's a "senior"? No real old person would say that since you can tell their age by their voice. They want him to really believe that "she" is an actual old woman. Additionally, her 'cries' seem fake. And even though he was trying to help her, she didn't want to talk anymore and used the classic excuse of "it's getting late" and how her mouth was dry @26:42 Maybe the scammer got tired of waiting for Kitboga to send her some pity money. Their whole plan was to pose as a victim and make up a story about how she was scammed for years so Kitboga would send her money once he felt bad for her. Not to mention, Kitboga was supposed to hear this part at 0:43 so he would be convinced she was a real victim when he hears the scammer telling the "victim" what to do.
Yes. So I think what happens is that there are 2 scammers working together, one of them has the work to gain her trust, to be her only friend, even son as he calls her his mother, taking advantage of her loneliness. The other scammer is in charge of getting her money, so her "son" tells her that he is trustworthy. I'm so surprised, this is one of the most messed up things I have ever seen. I'm sorry if he explained it in the video, I haven't finished it yet :'v
I work in healthcare and have some elderly or cognitively impaired patients I see. Because of your videos, I make a point to try and start a conversation about scams with them. I always encourage them to directly call their bank / phone service provider / etc. directly instead of trusting that a random caller represents their bank. Sometimes they've asked me to look at a text or email they received because it didn't seem genuine, and I feel so relieved that they trust me to help them.
My grandmother was a victim of scammers before she passed away, it really warms my heart to see you helping people like this. Thank you for all of the work you put in, it means so much.
Same here. I send my mom Kit's shorter videos for a laugh, but she is also seeing how sneaky and dangerous these people are...and telling her friends!!
Seriousely I never thought that hearing a senior talking about the scams they were victim was so pain full. You came a long way from turning scammers crazy (I never laughed so hard with some of your characters) , to a hearth-warming hero that probably saved a life . If I refer to another group of scambaiters that I follow , sometimes ederly people are so desperate that they commit the unthinkable. Thanks a lot for what you do
What do you think it would feel like? Are you even a human being? It took you to the point of actually hearing someone in pain from the scam to understand, that's crazy

Man, we usually come to these videos to laugh at the scammers and all their time wasted, but a video like this reminds us there are real victims out there. These are the ones who need the help of people like Kitboga. Keep up the good work.
Seeing the emotion in Kitboga's eyes while dealing with this situation had me struggling to fight tears because you can see how much he cares, and myself having someone scam my grandfather for $20k with an IRS/FBI scam can relate with his emotions. It genuinely hurts my soul that these people with absolutely no morals can continue to exist. You're a genuine hero Kitboga, thank you so much for being who you are. Damnit the tears are rolling now. Thank you, Kitboga.
Can we please have a go fund me for this woman. I’m in literal tears for this. Our most vulnerable members of society are getting taken advantage of over and over again. Thank you. for all your hard work and diligence.
The community suggested this before but at the time Kit told us that the scammers own all of her accounts. They had access to everything ao there was no place the money could go to. Now it seems like she is doing better and she had some untouched funds left somewhere
She needs friends, people to talk to. I hope her community will take a notice and help. You can try to do it in your community, find some ways to keep elderly people feel connected. Organize a trip, prayer group, singing meetings.
I followed this story as it was unfolding. I cried then, I cried again today. I never wish bad things on anyone but the people that did that to her don’t deserve one good thing in their lives. Thank you Kitboga for being one of the good guys in this world.
I don't think I ever cried over a youtube video before.. This was just a single person that KitBoga saved, imagine the countless he has helped throughout his years of doing this
But what if kitboga was the one being scammed? I always question everything. At some points the "old lady" had me thinking it was either set up/staged or she's fake.
I found money transfer documents in my grandad's house when cleaning. He had been sending money to some scammer in Nigeria. He was starting to show signs of dementia he was lonely and vulnerable . These scammers are awful. Thank you for helping people
The one takeaway I got from this episode is that "Sarah" genuinely sounded tired and distressed when she first came onto the phone call with you through the scambaiter hotline. But, at 30:25 she sounded so much more livelier and so full of energy. I thought it was a different person completely from the way she spoke. That warmed my heart and i can only imagine how grateful she and so many countless others could be feeling right now that words could never describe. I'm glad she found you. For what it's worth, it must have felt like fate for this to happen and I'm happy to just be here in his timeline to experience it all with your viewers and subscribers as a witness to how someone's life could change so much for the better. Been watching you scambaiters for a few years now and at first it was for fun and giggles, and i should've expected this to happen eventually, but it still doesn't hit any less harder than it does.
This tops every video you’ve ever done. Even “do not redeem”. You are a genuinely good person and you are more than just a comedy channel, you are making a real difference in the world. You are saving lives. Please say hello to your new grandmother for us and let us know if there’s anything we can do to help.
I felt ALL the feelings watching this Kit... So sad for Sarah, shocked at how complicated this is, SOOO mad at Abhi I could bop him and so encouraged by the fact that there are people like you and your team helping her. All to think that his has come from you taking chances, making mistakes and getting messy. It's so inspiring to me to see what great things can come from small beginnings.💜
My parents got scammed about a year ago. Fortunately i actually work in IT so we minimized the damage they did. I also taught them about what to look for and its been better. Thank you for what you do Kit, you are a good person
A tough watch, but so glad you were able to help "Sarah" start piecing her life back together. You do so much good, never forget that you're valuable and you matter too.
My heart breaks for this woman and the horrible way she was treated, but I'm so glad you were able to intercept her call! A huge thanks to you and your whole team!
You can tell on top of being scammed she felt inhibited to tell the truth because she didn’t want to feel stupid, awful that even though she has nothing to be ashamed of she still had to feel so vulnerable, even after being violated for essentially being a good person. These scammers are bottom feeding low life pieces of garbage.
The thing I hope Kit realizes is that by making videos like this- he’s not only potentially able to intervene and help people already in this situation but helps countless others from ever being in that position. And does it while making them laugh. I think that’s even more noble and important. So yeah. While you can’t technically count what never actually happened- he’s undeniably saving people. Your grandma would be proud of you kit. Genuinely. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt. You dedicated your life to stopping others from being in her position. And you have succeeded innumerable times. I know you probably saw a lot of your grandmother in the victim here. Understandably so. Just know that if she could- your grandmother would be thanking you too. You’re a wonderful human. Never give up.
They're like parasites, man, draining their victims. This stuff infuriates me. I'm so happy you stepped in to help her. Even one person is better than none. Keep up the good work I talk about you all the time at work in the Money Center when people are coming in with money transfer scams. You're a legend, Kitboga. People will talk about you for decades after it's all done because of the impact you have on unveiling these scams and showing people the truth. Don't stop, please
It's so terrible that scammers are out there trying to take advantage of people but I'm glad to see that you're helping and Thank you for helping the victims
Y'know yesterday I was watching some of your vids and thought "I love how Kitboga never gets angry or even flustered at these scammers, he's usually just doing an impressive job of holding back laughter. I'm glad he's having so much fun while annoying these horrible people, hell yeah!" After watching this video, it feels quite strange to hear a real scam victim AND see Kit being so genuine - not that I think he's not a genuine person, I mean that we mostly see him playing characters in these videos so it's unusual to see him being himself like this - and it reminds me that scambaiting may be fun to watch but I mustn't forget that it's only funny because Kit is in the know and safe. Not everyone is, and the actual scams aren't so much funny as horrific, dreadful and very very sad. I wish you the absolute best for the future, Sarah.
Whats sad is there are people that refuse to believe that people fall for this stuff or that they're just stupid. This is just proof for those idiots that people who aren't tech savy can easily get pulled in, then it's desperation that keeps them there. 7 years is too long. I'm glad she's finally out of the loop and getting help. May she live stress free from now on
Being too trusting is stupid so it literally requires being stupid. Admitting mistakes is the first step to being intelligent, by the way. Which one can't do if they refuse to accept they were stupid to begin with. The key difference is that you think stupid = always incapable which is victim mentality. But no. You can empathize with someone and not treat them like an incompetent who couldn't have done better. Everyone is stupid at most things. Your mindset is what keeps them being stupid. Like the people who claim you shouldn't tell someone their religion is nonsense because it makes them feel better, your position only serves to make more problems for everyone.
@TessaBain exactly friend. Just cause you have a stupid moment doesn't make you "stupid". Being looped into a scam for years because of lack of knowledge, desperation, and being 'too' friendly and trusting, while scammers mess with you phycologically, causing a laspe in proper judgment is certainly a stupid thing to do. But often times individuals don't realize this until an outsider points it out and explains it. My point was that just because someone falls for a scam doesn't mean they're dumbass idiots. It just means they had a stupid moment(s), which everyone can have. If one should refuse to believe that fact, after everything is explained, they're beyond just having a stupid moment. And just because I condensed this thought into two simple sentences that could be misconstrued doesn't make me stupid either. While you, my friend, overanalyzed and assumed what I meant, making an ass out of you and me. So, let's both excuse our own stupid moments and wish the poor women a happy life. Have a nice day and many thanks. Sincerely, The other Ass
This is one of the exact nightmare scenarios I've wondered about ever since I found your channel. Someone who outlasted all their friends/family and their entire life is run back and forth through scams. It hits different than knowing its happening when you see and hear from one of the victims
Not only that, but it's the first person she thinks of when Kit tells her to reach out to someone she trusts. He's thinking the same thing we are, that she'll say her daughter, grandson, maybe a nephew or some other close relative. But she has no one. Or at least no one she feels as close to as the thief. And what's really disgusting is you can see the way he panics a bit when he's on the phone with Kit. He's desperate to talk to Sarah alone so he can try to save face. He doesn't see her as a person. He sees her as a cash cow that he's been able to manipulate for the last 7 years that he doesn't want Kit to save from his clutches.
I've literally watched the views sky rocket since I've been watching this. Once you go down the Kitboga rabbit hole, it's hard to get out lol. It's more than just the content with you Kit, it's the incredible acting skills, the laughs, and whole vibe. Heroes don't always wear capes.

Convincing someone they've been scammed is damn difficult.

They have no incentive to do so
This situation speaks to a much deeper issue, that is the isolation of many of the elderly.
Some seniors might not have kids or the kids maybe are too busy with their own life that they barely have time to reach out to their parents or parent to check on them or if they do, the parent doesn't want to burden them with problems.
well when your culture values moving out more than anything at a young age.... independence of the youth is also isolation of the elderly

I'm not sure but im thinking he probably told her about what he does and who he is and she can see him on the internet to verify
most likely he cut out the whole part of the call where he earned her trust by explaining who he was and what he did and told her how to verify that info.
I'm sure later he'd proved who he was so she felt confident, but the initial contact when he was saying he was a security researcher etc.
Yeah this is the worst thing I would be afraid of: that the victim thinks I'm a scammer too and shuts me out.

Every man is violent, many of us merely repress it. That's where the whole "he snapped" comes from.
the way you explained it to her was so nice and slow. after 6-7 years of being scammed having some random guy tell her that her closest friends were scammers would have an extremely negative reaction. getting someone to understand theyre being taken advantage of is not an easy thing to do.

Red flag @19:39 : Why would this supposed old woman point out the obvious fact that she's a "senior"? No real old person would say that since you can tell their age by their voice. They want him to really believe that "she" is an actual old woman. Additionally, her 'cries' seem fake. And even though he was trying to help her, she didn't want to talk anymore and used the classic excuse of "it's getting late" and how her mouth was dry @26:42
Maybe the scammer got tired of waiting for Kitboga to send her some pity money.

I would happily donate to this
The community suggested this before but at the time Kit told us that the scammers own all of her accounts.
That would be the first time I would donate to a cause like this. I want her to have the best years she can have from now on.
I am all for this. I rarely donate to anything/anyone. But this I would chip in on. It's "Sarah" and the Australian Koalas. 💝
I followed this story as it was unfolding. I cried then, I cried again today. I never wish bad things on anyone but the people that did that to her don’t deserve one good thing in their lives. Thank you Kitboga for being one of the good guys in this world.
I don't think I ever cried over a youtube video before.. This was just a single person that KitBoga saved, imagine the countless he has helped throughout his years of doing this
I completely lost it. The distress and betrayal this poor woman must have felt. The scammers are the scum of the earth.
Remember that Kitboga get people scammed by Aura.....
But what if kitboga was the one being scammed? I always question everything. At some points the "old lady" had me thinking it was either set up/staged or she's fake.
@@kr1me2000aura is not a scam. Its an app.
@@kr1me2000kit did an ad for a real company, that’s not comparable at all
I found money transfer documents in my grandad's house when cleaning.
The icing would be Steve getting trapped in there....
Good point, but DO NOT REDEEM is in the hall of fame at this point.
DO NOT REDEEEEMM!
DO NOT REDEEM
This was heartbreaking to watch, you were incredibly delicate breaking the news to her and investigating it all, thanks for what you do.
No offense to cockroaches yet his gauntlet sounds like a roach motel for scammers… 🪳🪳🪳😵😵😵
Lol okay

It's so terrible that scammers are out there trying to take advantage of people but I'm glad to see that you're helping and Thank you for helping the victims
Y'know yesterday I was watching some of your vids and thought "I love how Kitboga never gets angry or even flustered at these scammers, he's usually just doing an impressive job of holding back laughter. I'm glad he's having so much fun while annoying these horrible people, hell yeah!"
After watching this video, it feels quite strange to hear a real scam victim AND see Kit being so genuine - not that I think he's not a genuine person, I mean that we mostly see him playing characters in these videos so it's unusual to see him being himself like this - and it reminds me that scambaiting may be fun to watch but I mustn't forget that it's only funny because Kit is in the know and safe.
Sincerely,
The other Ass
The world needs more people like you. Not just scambaiters, but people who care about others. Thank you for what you and your team do.
become the change you want to see :)
This is one of the exact nightmare scenarios I've wondered about ever since I found your channel. Someone who outlasted all their friends/family and their entire life is run back and forth through scams. It hits different than knowing its happening when you see and hear from one of the victims
I hope Sarah knows we all care about her, and hope she's in a better spot now.
I know this sounds nuts but helping the victims is what you're here for. That's the bigger picture. You're wonderful.
Ugh imagine trusting someone for 7 years only to find out it was a thief all along. Im glad you found her Kit!😢
Been there lol
Sometimes they wear caps 😂 .. on another note, I totally agree with your comment❤
Sometimes they wear dark sunglasses ❤️
This made me tear up. The way you very carefully and tactfully led her to the truth, her realizing what had happened, the fact she got help. Right in the feels ❤
Thank you for sharing this with us. This is so unbeliveably terrible but im so happy that she found you. You are truly a kind a humble soul and I will forever be a fan. ❤
I'm amazed at how you were able to tread gently and talk to her in a manner that made it possible for her to receive your message. I know my brain would just get overwhelmed. This was a class act in thinking clearly in a stressful situation.
my heart breaks endlessly for Sarah. Imagine, being in this vulnerable position, and the person you trust most in this world, someone you consider your best friend, turns out to have been playing you the entire time. There is no torture on this earth that could be equal to what those scammers deserve.
chill out, all they did is steal money. They didnt grape or kill or kidnap or groom gender surgery on children or be violent to anybody.

@@Peekaboo-Kittybecause the scammer started slowly building up a relationship with her and Sarah probably has no family and the scammer played on the vulnerability and loneliness. This is brilliant and heartbreaking for this lady. Kit you are a godsend. As you know, I work with scammed victims every day and people do not realize the mental abuse that many go through. You have done a remarkable job. Thank you for all you do kit. I just love you and your creativity! Please, everyone, share this video with everyone you know,

Hey, Chappy.
I watch / listen to you when you appear on TM and or Skeeter Jean. Mad respect for what you and everyone in the scam baiter community does. Thanks for all you do.
I contacted TM (via their contact form) and offered to volunteer some time over the holidays.
I used 2 B a, phone co employee, back in the day. Can't tell you how many times we would sometimes get wind of scammer activity....and there was NOTHING we could do to help them.
Heartbreaking. Truly heartbreaking.

I'm a 40 year old man and just cried my eyes out watching this while doing the dishes. I was not ready for this. I feel so bad for everyone this happens to. So many evil people on this planet. Luckily there's amazing people too. Love you Kit!
The rickroll as waiting music was the cherry on top for me. Love all the work you and your team do to punish these scammers, and it's really nice to see that you managed to also help other people with this.
This is a hard video to watch- coming "face to face" with a real victim, but it's necessary to remind us the real damage scammers cause to real people, some of whom have their entire lives destroyed.
Thank-you Kit
Totally.. it’s so easy to just laugh at these idiotic scammers and forget there is actual victims.. heartbreaking 💔
How heartbreaking! Seven years! If you hadn't set up the system you did, Sarah might have been scammed for many more years! I'm glad you've been able to connect her to people who actually help her and get things cleared up for her! Kit, you are a super hero!
This really shows that it’s not just a case of swooping in and saving the day. These situations are complex and have to be approached with tact.
It's scary to think how many seniors this is happening to. Someone just happy to have someone to talk to and considers callers her friends. So devastating. I love that you're doing your part to help, Kit.
