- OK so how is life in Austria vs Germany? Which one would you choose if someone were considering moving to Austria or moving to Germany? I got asked this question by one of the viewers and it wasn’t an easy one. BUT. Since I have experience living in Austria AND Germany it was easier to make a pick. Here are three reasons why I think living in Austria, or Vienna, is better than living in Germany.

Im from Germany, lived in the Netherlands and moved to Vienna 10 years ago and it was the best decision i ever made :)
Living costs are affordable, public transport is outstanding and super cheap so i dont need a car, social and medical care is first class, people are way happier and relaxed than in Germany, streets are clean and safe at nights, public services are doing a good job, Wifi and 4G is everywhere, even in the subway you have full signal, the new S-bahn trains are like plane with wifi and powersocket at each seat, a lot of well funded universities, behind every corner you discover a new beautyfull street with Art Nouveau houses, interesting restaurants, cafes, bars,.....
I can totally understand those motherloads of chinese tourists coming to Vienna and blocking half of the street in huge sightseeing crowds, because its absolutely awesome here :)

I am German-speaking and have worked and studied in Germany. In recent years, I have spent more time in Austria and find the Austrians easier to get along with. Now that I am retired, I might prefer to live in Austria in the Salzburger Land. I am a U.S. citizen.

I am living in Munich but Austria, especially Wien has the more foreigner friendly atmosphere and open.
Never have I felt warm with the people with here unless they were my friends but Wien, everyone was really happy to connect with other people.
You see in the comment some people saying “come to Austria”. I believe Munchener would say “I don’t give a thing about you moving to Munich as long as my space is secured”.
I have not lived in Germany, but I have fallen in love with Vienna. Wien ist mein Lieblingsstadt!

im living in germany and thinking about moving to austria..one thing i can say for sure like 100% of the germans COMPLAIN ABOUT E V E R Y T H I N G !!!! sometimes i have the feeling they love the drama soo much they just have to have sth to complain about.
Ahahaha, I've experienced it as well in Germany! They complain about the cities like there's no tomorrow.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! :)
"Come to Vienna" is all I can say to that 😁 well... at least as soon as the pandemic is over 😅
I already have found your chanel and I consider your content very interesting and usefull, I am an student from Mexico and really want to go to Vienna, do you know the Johannes Kepler's University? Would you consider talking about studying in Vienna or Germany? Thanks
Hey Daniel, I lived in many countries, now I teach at the university in the Netherlands, and have Mexican students. I also lived in Germany and I know someone in Vienna who also studied in Germany, so she could tell you differences as well.
If I may give you my opinion, and from my experience in many countries, knowing the Mexican culture and the German culture, my gut feeling says ''go to Austria''. Mainly because Germans love their rules, punctuality and laws, and it's hard to adjust to when you come from a more flexible culture.
just my 2 cents :)
Enjoy where ever you go!!!
Rachel
So happy it helps! The unis in Vienna are great, I will dig a bit deeper and make a vid for you :)
You will not find a Johannes Kepler's University in Vienna. It is in Linz, the third largest city of Austria.
Das Lebensgefühl in München und Wien ist sehr ähnlich. In Norddeutschland sind die Leute kühler und reservierter.
Vienna is too neat. I visitrd there and was amazed
Like christoph waltz said " austrians are very polite but they don't mean it, they just want to make their lives easyer"
Waltz you should not take to serious - he has a problem with austria since childhood i think.
Austria 🇦🇹 🔥
You are bad in everything apart cities stfu
I was planning to move to Germany and now I changed my mind to Austria. Are there any suitable immigration programs for engineers to Austria?
Comparing life and impressions in a small bavarian village with life in Vienna does not make sense xD Vienna is very Special and not representative for the remaining more Traditional parts of Austria. The same goes for bavaria and the remaining regions that differentiate from each other strongly (Hamburg, Berlin, Cologne , Dresden etc)
Amen to that. I was looking for that comment. Germany all the way.
I am living in Vianna Austria, especially Wien has the more foreigner friendly atmosphere and open.
In Wien, everyone is happy to connect with other people what you need you cann found.. me too.
"come to Austria". to Vianna.
01:49 3 reasons vs Germany
If you have a preference for Turkish or Syrian people and knife fights or gunfights, I would also move to Vienna. Not to forget the "real" unfriendly Viennese.
Austria > Germany
I lived in Austria for almost a decade and am glad to be back in Germany. For foreigners who learn German: Austrians speak their own variety of German sometimes with strong dialect. That is of course totally fine, but it is hard to understand and a lot of them won't switch to standard German for foreigners which I find is impolite and not really appreciative and inclusive. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of nice people like in every other country too, but just have a look at austrian governments of previous years which have included far right parties. One thing I like about Austria is to maintain tradition, which is a good thing when you think about the excellent quality of food you find there or the excellent classical music scene. However, it can be a bad thing if you think in terms of open mindedness especially in the context of foreigners, which are welcomed as paying tourists but you might experience how this changes when you study or work there for longer than some months. When I compare Berlin to Vienna, I find Berlin to be more cosmopolitan with a vivid contemporary art scene but you also have amazing classical orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Vienna reminds me of a dusty museum which certainly is worth a trip and has it's own Charme but I would not recommend to study there as a foreigner.
The most of the people can’t speak German. And they who can, can only speak a few sentences then it’s too difficult
I would like to know more about the city of Graz and how is work life in Graz compared to Vienna, I am totally anware of austrian work culture, I have experience working with Southwest Germany, places like Stuttgart and around
I have never been living in Graz so I might be wrong but Graz is about half the size of Vienna and is said to be more relaxed and friendly. It's a very popular university city. So I guess work life balance is great there. On the other hand there aren't as many opportunities in Graz as there are in Vienna since the city is much bigger and also a lot more companies operate here. Austria's culture is very similar to the culture in Bavaria. But I guess it also is somewhat similar to Stuttgart since it's in southern Germany aswell.
Well lucky you i am from Graz! I know this comment might be old but I will still reply to it.
Graz is the 2nd biggest city in Austria and the perfect place for students. Unlike Vienna, that is very traditional, Graz is really modern. That being why we have a lot of students from all over the world coming to Graz to study at our universities. If you like the modern lifestyle but also a bit of traditional, then Graz is the perfect city for you ;)
Love from INDIA...... I appreciate some of the steps taken by your newly elected government....may God bless you with all the prosperity n happiness.

Have you ever been outside of Bavaria in Germany?😂 Bavaria alone has a higher population than Austria - so the differences inside the country are huge! People from the north are completely different to people in the south. The same with east and west (also because the people in the east lived under communism)
Im from Germany. And i love my Country

Hello
Greetings!
Your videos are superb..!
Would you let me know about the best universities or institutes in Austria for drugs research or pharmacy ?
live simple hello
for pharmacy, you should go to the MedUni (medizinische Universität - medical university) but some of viennas universities are among the most difficult in europe, some like MedUni, WU (university of economics), TU (technical university)
Nice
I’ve just moved to Austria from Munich Germany. Everything seems to be more expensive in here, apart from house rent. Die Miete is cheaper other than that extremely expensive Austria. Not sure if it was the right move.
Come to tyrol. Most expensive rent
Good observations. I am Austrian who lived in Munich and thought the other way round: Everything is pretty cheap but housing is expensive.
I'm gonna be honest, then you're looking in the wrong spot. I did some digging and rents in Munich are relatively the same than in Tyrol, which is the most expensive place in Austria. Now there are so many more great cities. (Salzburg, Vienna, Graz, Innsbruck..) And non Austrians might think that old houses are cheap. I would recommend a 70/80 building for cheap living. Very modern and old buildings are usually expensive.
Austria is far better than Germany BUT Munich is better than Vienna.
Munich is no way better than Vienna. Munich is so snobbish yet boring... Cultural scene is much better in Vienna, people are more fun and spontaneous, cafés are nicer, and the city is just prettier... and housing much more affordable.
I wonder what people think about Linz? I've been there before but not in a long time and I wonder how it compares to Vienna or elsewhere.
Vienna is different to all other Austrian cities..because of its size the whole vibe of the city is way more metropolitian and cosmopolitian than anywhere else in Austria..but don´t get me wrong Linz and every other town has also its distinct own charme as well.
I lived in Linz for two years. What do you want to know?
latticetheory.net/media/pdf/JKU_Campus_News.pdf
@@mratkins2611 I thought the Austrians were extremely friendly. For example, for the two years I was there, the people in my department conducted all of their seminars in English. I was the only one who didn't know German. (This also happened at the Schroedinger Institute in Vienna: there were about 50 people at an algebra conference, and once they realized I did not know German, they switched all of the talks to English.)
I found the Austrians had a good sense of humor, unlike the reputation some from other parts of the German-speaking world have!
The Czech border is not far from Linz, but I did not go to the Czech Republic when I lived there. I did go between Linz and Prague in 2013. There is a coach one can take for (my memory is imperfect) only about 20 euros and it takes (if I remember correctly) about 4 hours.
I've been to about 25 countries and lived in 4 or 5. Austria is my favorite country.
it seems unfair and extremely biased to compare the capital of one country "Vienna" with the countryside/ small city of another. perhaps your experience in bavaria was unfavourable but this comparison isn't practical
I think the opposite. Munich and other cities might not be the capital, but they're giant. Every single one has more residents, than probably Vienna, Salzburg and Innsbruck combined. I think it's unfair to compare all those giant cities in Germany to little Vienna. There are also so many other beautiful cities in Austria.
Vienna is not Austria.
Austria is a little bit like Italy...no so much, but enough.......
Where are you from
Austria is wayyyyy better than germany
