For me, it's the location, budget-friendliness, and of course, comfort.
Location - Is it near the attraction you wanted? For me, this is important because it can reduce expenses; you can simply walk to your target destination. I always choose to stay near restaurants or convenience stores, and of course, in a safe area.
Budget-friendly - You wouldn't be at the hotel 24/7, would you? Most of the time, I only stay at the hotel to get some sleep and freshen up, so I'd rather stay in a budget-friendly hotel or hostel rather than a 5-star hotel.
Lastly, comfort - Even though it's budget-friendly, I ensure that I will feel comfortable with the hotel I'm staying in.
