I've enjoyed your longer deck introductions. It's a nice way to help contextualize both the deck and the meta it's a part of. I think Soulflayer decks just need a solid main deck backup plan. Greasefang decks play the same way, but they have the Chariot they can fall back on when the combo fails.
I'm considering nightveil predator, it has fly hexproof and deathtouch so it helps against spirits and can be hard casted(although it's a UUBB for a 3/3)
Absolutely LOVE this deck! Honestly, it feels like those two losses are mostly just bad luck. But you are right, one more card, even a seemingly innocuous one, could make this deck top-tier!
My experience playing Scavengers in a similar build is that you need to tweak the deck so that your first target has haste. Questing Beast and Hazoret are great. There's also that green creature gives you hexproof and taste. Stubborn denial/Spell Pierce in the main almost seems like a must at this point. My biggest issue is that the Neo Atraxa build seems to just blow the conventional version out of the water right now.
Would stubborn denial be a good addition to the deck? With double the creatures, it becomes fairly trivial to have a creature with power 4 or greater on the board, and helps against sac and creativity.

I played the shit out of Soulflayer in Modern, and got to feel the pain of Faithless and Once Upon a Time bans cripple it. I think for Pioneer there’s so many unique variants. I like the neoform version into Atraxa, I like the control Esper shells with tainted indulgence and faithful mending.
Just seeing in the video the number of cards that completely dominate from the past few sets and push out cards like soulflayer, urborg scavengers is powerful but I don't see it as a huge offender and it contributes to a specific archetype
The old soulflayer basically suffered from getting spread too thin: you have to disrupt, clog your graveyard AND find your threat. If you went all in without disruption, you risk losing to other combos. If you didn't you get what you got and it's just delaying the soulflayer or the eventual loss. In my testing, I never used Samut or the Riverwinder since their payoffs were very low. With the new addition, I would add maybe 2-3 urborg scavengers and focus the majority of the deck on the payoff instead. It's really hard to balance it now that removal is so ubiquitous.
It does feel like it is spread really thin. I think the deck also benefitted from players not knowing how the deck worked, but now it's quite well-known!
I honk you can use UB flyer with Flying and Hexproof and deathtouch iirc, as well as some spells like UB draw 2 discard 1 to dump creatures into GY from hand

Hey Daddy, I know the correct answer is that I just need to stop having the Big Downs and figure it out on my own, but would you be able/willing to start putting the game format (Standard/ Pioneer/Modern/etc) back in your video titles again? I like being able to see what game mode you're playing at a quick glance.
Feels like one, maybe two clutch cards could make this solid. Your losses weren't blowouts where you ran out of gas, things just didn't go your way. Hopefully something comes by soon.
Is Saiba Cryptomancer interesting as a hexproof creature at all? He sorta doubles as a bad protection spell if he's in hand instead of the bin and your basket of eggs doesn't already have hexproof. There's also a shitty draft common in MoM with trample and hexproof, though no cycling. I kinda think Scavengers is just a good card without needing to go all in like Soulflayer. Especially if you're in an deck with a bunch of haste creatures that will probably find their way into the yard without much help (something like RDW splashing black as an example), it's basically a Graveyard Tresspasser that's a 4/4 haste for 3.
Feels like you do all the work for the flayer and it's just still worse than an archon but still subject to the same hate as reanimator. This deck needs tainted strike for one shot kills after you do all the work
I think you did some questionable plays against Humans. Game 1, you discard the bodyguard, even though you had 2 Banehounds in hand to trade. Second discard, you pick Thalia, when you had no (castable) non-creature spells in hand. It's debatable. Game 2, at 9 minutes in, why did you Abrupt Decay the bodyguard precombat, even though you can just trade it for the Banehound? Also, keep name of format in title, pretty please! Anyways, love the content!
this pioneer deck sure could benefit from some MH cards. Clearly thats why you lost those matches. no MH cards. sure cant wait till they make print to pioneer sets and ruin that format too

Scavs also works on discarded noncreatures that have Indestructible/Hexproof like Cascading Cataracts, Lotus Field, Theros Gods etc. :)
