Don't know, some of Michael Tippett's music is rather nice. Vaughan Williams and Brahms are both great, but they were agnostic, rather than practicing full-out Atheism. Certainly some of the best music is composed by Catholic, Anglican or other composers, however I wouldn't charge religion as the deciding factor in whether their music is good or not
