20h is fine for a survival horror game. Tactical games like this one usually last longer though, because missions themselves tend to last longer. This is where the main gripe is for moat people, I think.
Also, thanks for highlighting this game's existence, Metal Slug is loads of fun and it's interesting to see it in a different style.

Honestly, it's a pretty good game. Riddled with bugs tho, nothing absolutely gamebreaking, but you might want to wait for that to get solved. That said, it's pretty addicting and clever

I'm always amazed by how many facts + information + well-measured opinions Elise can cram into 3-5 minutes and still be completely coherent and not-overwhelming. While other more in-depth or more pure-opinion/comedy review pieces surely have their place, this is by far my favorite review format, with Elise Avery always pushing on how informational and useful it can be.

Ah, so the developers were aware the tactics game most comparable in gameplay was Into the Breach. The missions where you have to kill something on rails before it gets away are a type you'll see often.Maybe, like with Into the Breach, they'll release free updates that expand the limited variety of missions, maps, and items.
The review seems fair, it's good basic gameplay with decent strayegic depth but there's not enough variety to support the roguelike multi run gameplay loop.
Waiting for a patch on Switch. The stages of the last level crash in Handheld mode (on top of general to heavy slowdown even docked).
I'll still play it, but I won't be coming back to it like with Into the Breach or FTL.
This review, though not entirely negative, sounded largely down on the game... but if it has 20 hours worth of a good time for just over 20 dollars... well that's better time to money ratio than going to the movies... hell, it's even better than a big meal which will stop providing taste quickly and stop providing sustenance in about 8-12 hours. I think we should be more positive about games you play, enjoy, and move on from when they are at a price point that fits.

I like that several others in the comments are excited for a 20ish hour game that you can feel "done" with at the end. I may turn Game Pass on for this (and a couple others, but this first)
As far as strategy games go, somebody on this channel should look into Arco. It's an incredible game with a distinctly unique (and cool IMO) combat system, with a solid storyline and good replayability. A hidden gem if I've ever played one.

Watching this review, this looks like it's basically Into The Breach with bigger maps and less focus on knockback as a mechanic
This review echoes my feelings pretty well. The system mechanics are interesting, but the limited areas combined with only one boss per area felt disappointing. 2 or 3 different bosses per area would have been sweet.

20 hours out of a 20 pound game sounds like enough content for me. Not every game has to be infinitely replayable, and honestly with the oversaturation of games we have rn I prefer well made and short games.
I do agree that the game wears out its welcome eventually, but I had a good time up until that point. The one thing I'll say is that it is pretty buggy at the moment, so I'd wait a couple months before buying to give them some time to patch it.
I don't really disagree with anything you've said, but this review comes off as extremely sterile and clinical. I'd really appreciate more of your personality in your reviews. I don't know if I'll be revisiting this series which is a shame because I love almost everything else from Second Wind.

Personally I'd have wanted a game where you got to play as random MS grunts, seems a bit of a missed opportunity.
Though the review didn't mention how buggy the game is. It really feels unfinished at times.
I would define it a puzzle-game with a paintcoat of turn-based combat on it. Maps are minuscule, abilities scarce and random and there are constant timers or objectives that force you to rush things. Much like Into the Breach, as others said. Definitely not my thing and most definitely very different/inferior to something like XCOM2.

I dislike the beginning of this video, it jumps into specific mechanics without a few sentences about the general premise, genre, the series etc.
The repetition of roguelikes just ruin them for me. Hades is the only one I've played that really figured out how to make it feel fresh and alive. I was almost going to preorder this one and saw the word "roguelike" and paused. Probably won't bother now. Hearing that there are bugs at all is more than enough reason to never start something like this. If I can't trust the game to not throw my progress in the dumpster for no reason, why invest any time at all?
