    Yao would be a monster if he played in modern time. He can shot middle, long ranges and 3. Yao can do fade away as well. He also has solid footworks in the paint. Yao is not slow at all. He can just remove all the weights he gained after Jeff was in Rockets to earn more flexibility. If you look at this first 3 seasons in NBA, you will know he can match the pace of the nowadays game.

    I remember watching Yao warm-up at a Clippers game back in the day as a kid. I'm not sure if it was his usual warmup, but he was out on the court before any other player and was shooting 3 pointers and knocking majority of them down. He made 11 in a row at one point. Thinking back on it now, I wonder why he didn't get to fully showcase his entire skillset. Perhaps it was just the way the NBA was played back then when it wasn't predicated on shooting so many threes and centers were tasked with playing like traditional bigs. The only power forward/center I can think of at the time that was allowed to shoot threes and space the floor was Mehmet Okur.

      seen a clip with shaq making 3's one after another, and ben simmons too
      part of it is how they're utilized, but also, making 3's in practice vs in game is so much more different

    Top 5 centers if not for the injuries

      It sucks man. Big men that are unusually tall tend to have a lot of injuries due to their size. The long NBA seasons take a toll on such a big body. Shaq had the same issues at times, though he was lucky enough to play for 18 years. The NBA is brutal regardless of the athlete. Even guys like Kobe and MJ had a lot of issues that they played through. The toll on your knees and feet can be too much. Bill Walton was notorious for having bad feet to the point where it caused him debilitating pain. If it wasn't for his feet, Bill Walton would possibly be the greatest Center of all time. Same with Yao Ming.

    When Yao was healthy he was literally unguardable, especially in the post as his center of gravity was lower, like most Asians (cuz of those huge legs), so he could just back up whoever he wanted, including Shaq lol

  • @cks2020693

    people don't know that Yao had to put up a lot of weight/muscles coming into the league because he was expected to play only in the low post, which decreased his mobility/agility and endurance.
    In today's league, he wouldn't have to put up all that weight and he would be able to play in the premiter, and he had 3-pointer skills too. similar to what Jokic is doing

    7'6 big man with skill. That's an anomaly right there. My favorite player ever in real life and to use in 2K. Try to foul Yao, he gonna make his free-throws for his size. Maybe challenging for him to dominate in this era with the faster pacing, but no doubt a valuable starting center for any team.

      You are right, but i think it was a returns issue. The amount of resources the Celtics would need to invest into tacko, the time, the money, the minutes, is just too high for what a developed Tacko could bring back to the team. Yao was different because in his 2nd year he was already producing results.

    Yao is completly another level compares to Rudy, and Rudy is all about his lonnnng arm to protect the rim, that's it
    Yao can low post, mid range, pass.. you name it.His career ended so awaredly because that stupid coach abuse and force Yao to play average 40 mins per game in regular season.
    I mean comon man, his knees needed to carry a 350 pounds human and every single round needs him to show up in both Off and Def end.

      @@cks2020693 The lack of having to carry so much weight to bang against guys like Shaq would do wonders for Yao's joints. On the other hand, China's basketball team being complete garbage still means he'd have to play 24/7 and carry their worthless asses 1v9 in every international tournament/qualifier.

    The take on him being bred for basketball is just based on the fact his parents both basketball pros in china, were apparantly encouraged to get married by the chinese sportikg authority. But being encouraged to get married and selective breeding to produce a top athlete are two very diffrent things. It is certiantly a mix of propaganda with like just a big enough nugget of thruth for people to run wild with it.

    • @cks2020693
      @cks2020693 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      because Dirk played power forward, he was not expected to play both offence and defense in the paint for 35-40 mins per game, Dirk didn't have to put on muscles and weight like Yao did. If you look closely to Yao's rookie year (blue uniform with white stripes), Yao was considered "under weight and skinny", but he was so much more agile and quick, much more than Dirk.
