  • Having spent a few relaxing days in Jodhpur it's time to continue exploring Rajasthan in India.
    Join me in this travel video to experience an Indian Train Journey from arriving at Jodhpur Railway Station, taking the train to Ajmer, and an Ola taxi cab to Pushkar.
    I arrive early in the morning to Jodhpur Railway Station to find it is already busy and lots of people are sleeping outside, how they are sleeping through the noise I don't know. After buying some breakfast and snack food for the train journey I watch the dawn as I wait for my train which is running late. When it arrives finding the right compartment on the train proves challenging, and then arriving at Ajmer Railway Station I decide to booking an Ola taxi cab to take me to Pushkar, and finally find my hotel in Pushkar.

    Whenever you find all the cabins dark then talk to TTE(Train Ticket Exaimner) he`d get you the correct seat, you could opt for coupe which has just 2 seats, the one which has 4 seats is cabin-its for a family, coupe is for a couple or a single person.

      Mr Bunny.
      But sometimes in some stations displayed coach numbers don't match with the nearby coach numbers.
      Mr Simon
      In this case I would like to suggest you to ask the man in uniform of Indian Railway Protection Force. As you can see, those men of Railway Protection Force are always moving in the platform.

      Mysore is cool laid back and one of cleaner city. Definitely , worth visiting .I come from Indore which is from central India state -M.P but currently I am in US . M.P has both -historical as well as wild life. www.mptourism.com/ -this is offical govt website and it allows you to book govt lodges also . Khajuraho temples depict Kamasutra and then then there are varios other historical sites besides worth watching good wild life adventure Kanha kisli (this is right time to visit) . Karnataka official website kstdc.co/ Besides Mysore, dont miss Hampi and several other site. Then there is North eastern states northeasttourism.gov.in/ so many destionations in India .Even I have just visited southern India and North . Then there is Gujrat . Every state has official tourism website. you should check out official website of each state and they are authentic and not overpriced. check for state owned properties while booking for govt lodging and govt owned hotels and generally they have good lodging facilities but you have to book in advance.

    Simon,
    Loving the video series of your trip to India. It is bringing back many forgotten memories of my visit to Northern India over 20 years ago. I visited many of the same places as you.
    I particularly enjoyed this video as it brought to mind the thrill/apprehension of getting to the train station early, buying snacks, finding the correct compartment and settling in. I had forgotten about all the people sleeping outside the stations on the ground and the general hustle and bustle.
    I had also forgotten about the list posted outside the carriage and looking for my name on it. I was always amazed and relieved when I found myself on the list.
    I can’t remember where I was going to, or from where, but I couldn’t book a sleeper for an overnight train ride as I was told they were sold out for months, so I booked a regular seat. Upon boarding the train late in the evening I found myself in a carriage with every seat taken and the prospect of spending all night sitting upright. I was not thrilled at that idea so I went in search of the ticket collector to see if I work anything out. I was of course of prepared to offer a monetary inducement.
    I found the ticket collector and he showed me to a carriage that was full of empty beds and said I could take any one I wanted! I was amazed. I asked if there was a charge and he said no. So I went back to the original carriage and collected my backpack and spent the night stretched out in relative luxury. I did expect someone to come and throw me out but it never happened.
    What I particularly enjoyed on the train were the people coming through with tea and peanuts. They called out “moongaphalee, moongaphalee”, Indian for peanut I believe.
    The tea was served in a terra-cotta one time use clay cup that was thrown onto the track when empty. I have since seen on youtube a man throwing a 1000 of these a day on a potters wheel! (th-cam.com/video/4a2WmvciUIQ/w-d-xo.html).
    Watching your travel blog is making me think about India again. This time I want to travel in rather more luxury than last time and am considering a cruise down the Ganges to Varanasi (www.assambengalnavigation.com/abn-rajmahal).
    Keep up the great work Simon and I look forward to more videos!

    Correction sir ! Your train was coming from Ajmer and was going to Kathgodam in the state of Uttarakhand (Some coaches are detached from this train at Moradabad Junction in Uttar Pradesh and they head to Ramnagar in Uttarakhand). Kathgodam is way way ahead of Ajmer, 719 km away and this train is pretty slow as well

    Hi Simon Sir, It has been really nice virtual adventure with you on TH-cam and trust me you're really daring and caring person. Being alone and travelling in INDIA isn't a easy job and that too foreigner like you where vendors or chaiwalas or autowalas had a cruel intention to mint more money (not offending my own people just saying the truth) but you're surviving like a man so far so good, i wish you'd your better half or group of friends along with you just to make it more memorable and enjoyable, it becomes more fun to travel with group of friends or family, i've seen so many videos people from around the travelling to explore India mostly with two or more than but you're alone and that's the beauty of it. Love you Simon sir. Hope you'll come back in India with your family/Friends to explore rest of India, I've noticed you visited Varanasi but didnt go to Agra to see TajMahal which is close to Varanasi (about 4 to 5 hr train journey), So do come back and have a look at Symbol of Love "TAJMAHAL" you'll never forget this monument ever. I've seen most of videos of yours so just commenting here cause you asked to as well :P , You''ve learned a lot in INDIA from fare negotiation to avoid irritating vendors, just one request try to get your hands on Hindi as well, at least few hindi words so that you can utilize in your next trip, and i'm sure you'll definitely gonna come back to see Incredible India, there is lot more to see. Thank you for making and uploading such awesome videos and share with us. And yeah sorry about the facilities in India, its still under improvement and we're doing our best, will take some time, but i'm sure it will be better soon. Almost forgot " Welcome in INDIA" :D

    New Sub🖐🏻 Them Indian trains are sooo confusing about 100 carriages long.. In UK the inter city trains are carriage lettered, & there's marker signs on the platforms, to help! Then there's no mad panic when it arrives 😩 Like your spontaneous style 😉

    • @TheVigyanShow
      @TheVigyanShow 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      its not as confusing as u saw here, perhaps Simon didn't notice but there are digital display markers on the platform showing the coach serial number.

    • @sridharvaradan6313
      @sridharvaradan6313 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's because most of the trains are the same trains that ran when the British built them in early 1900s. India has not changed much of its train system since the British left and then India became an Independent nation.
      When One Third of the Nation is poor, People have better things to worry about than Quality of Trains. Only now, since the Economic rise of India since past 2 decades, Government is considering upgrading the Trains to modern ones.
