Added a multimeter to choke leads and am only getting 11.82 volts. Choke does not fully open after generator starts and heats up, thusly resulting in a rich mixture.
Cool, it threw me off also. The manual says the heater heats all the time when ignition is on. Do you know the part number or where I can purchase a new heater assembly? thanks
you can send me the data that supports that mattmills761@gmail.com i can not get my choke to work and i replaced the heater element and bimetal spring. The choke wire is only hot when starter solenoid is engaged so it makes more sense that the heating of bimetal spring close the choke.
@@tiny_tim_needs_love_too hello, unfortunately I sold my motorhome and gave the Onan book to New owner. But I basically just installed it and start unit up. Then adjust it where the choke is closed at startup when cold. So I think it just had slight spring pressure
You are correct it's the other way around once I got it on I learned that.

Where did you buy the heating element for the electric choke onan 6.5 nh
Is there a proper way to reinstall that heating element? Like a certain setting on it? Please help
