I don't think this video is very accurate. I'm doing an internship at one of the big 4. Unlike what you are claiming, we are encouraged to speak up if we have an idea to do something different or question our senior's methods. Long hours depends on the time of year. Most of the time you have a normal 9 to 5 day. The work not being interesting isn't true either. There are some less interesting tasks but you need them to understand what you are doing. As from the moment you start, you get exciting assignments as well.

Internships are supposed to be that way so you accept the offer. Stick around a few more years and let me know what you think.

@@TheBig4AccountingFirms During my internship, I'm not put away in some room all by myself. So believe it or not but I actually see the way associates are treated even though I'm an intern.

Oh wow ok buddy. Give it some time. We have slightly more experience in more firms, clients and groups than you do. Get back to us in 5 years. That is if you still work there in 5 years.

I think this video is very accurate, i also did two internships at the big 4 ( tax and audit ) for total 6 months before i joined as an associate in Transaction Advisory Services (TAS). I've been working for 18 months now in TAS.
The life as an intern was definetely quite fun. You will be treated as good as possible by your team and you'll be exposed to the interesting part of the work without touching it directly/taking full responsibility for it. Internship at the big 4 is 99% learning and learning is always fun, especially if you love sitting in your accounting class during college/school. Working full time is definetely something different.
In my country, especially in two or three of the big 4s, interns are prohibited to work overtime, so their workload are manageable and they'll not be given some serious responsibilities. Of course this depends on in what time are you joining the firm as an intern, you will truly work during audit busy season/close to tax return period/ a lot of projects coming in or maybe you can just chilling if you join during the down time.
When you work fulltime, you'll know how tough it is to stick around even for a year or two. You'll work all the time, and you will know that you're approach doesn't matter because you'll be forced to do what your partner wants , even if your seniors and your managers agree with you, they are powerless against the partner ( that's why your life in the big 4 really depends on your team leadership, in this case partner, just like in any other professional services firms). The work isn't really that interesting as well even in TAS/advisory and tax (don't even mention audit). Finally, at the end of the year maybe you'll be slapped by bad year end review if you did mistakes. Your chargeable hours can also become an issue if you go overbudget or your minimum chargeable hours aren't achieved.
Working for the big 4 has pros and cons. It's not that bad if you can enjoy it. You'll definetely learn a lot, you will learn how to manage your stress, learn about how good work ethics look like, learn about the universal language of corporate world, and most importanly learn about yourself. You can also make a lot of friends. At the end of the day, its your choice to stick around or not if you're working for the big 4.
This channel provides you with very good insights. I've listened to a lot of its podcasts and they are very interesting, especially if you are interested to join one of the big 4.
