Honestly I kind of like the fact that a net runner build is so op... not because it makes the game easy, but because it makes sense that in a world with that much technology, the ones that abuse it would control everything and win.
Our world relies heavily on tech. There are hackers and there are people who oppose them. There is malware and antiviruses. You don't see that in Cyberpunk. Everyone is as soft as if they didn't even know netrunners exist.
Big props to you for doing all of these runs, because i’ll admit it. I love this game, but boy I think i’ve finally exhausted my patience to play through this game’s story beats for the umpteenth time. I’m really waiting on that DLC to finally drop!
Tbh one of the worst parts about the game is also ironically one of the best. The intro feels really great to play through on your first time but after that its a two hour long slog just to hit open world
@@everythingsalright1121 Yeah the only change of flavor is what life path you choose at the beginning, so at this point the gameplay is the only thing holding my attention. Also I play mainly on console, so not being able to redistribute attribute points and having to restart to try new play styles is pretty tedious. Hopefully if there’s ever a new game + added they’ll just allow you to accrue more AP and fully max out everything.
i think the first 15 minutes perfectly illustrates the problem with netrunning in this game - the first handful of levels feel awful, but as soon as you cross the power threshold the entire game becomes a cakewalk.
That issue isn't exclusive to netrunning as someone who prefers sandi builds where you wind up using guns and blades the early game feels awful no matter what build. Late game you feel like a god. The heist takes to long to complete and the drone chase is fucking infuriating I rage quite today because of that part. I had been breezing by with a higher level character that even had the weakest sandy and some good weapons and decent cyberware for early game. But what's wild is that up until then I had been breezing through with the sidewinder and some creative stealth (I picked up a silencer dropped by an enemy when Jackie stealth killed one with me and said "hey this could come in handyyyy" and I was like yo you're right it could slapped it on yorinobus pistol and then shot the cameras but the silencer also reduces damage. I could not beat those fuckin drones they seriously need to patch the drone chase

Cyberpunk is better than people gave it credit. I'll admit I came in after everything was "fixed" but man it's a super solid game. Up there with rdr2 based on how much I enjoy the characters and world.
Now that we've got 2.0, it's even harder to start a netrunner build, but with the right cyberware and perks, the stuff you can pull off is absolutely insane. Overclock mode is stupidly fun to use. You can pop an overclock and make three people shoot themselves in the head. It's nuts.
Your runs are a great way to stay updated on the technical aspects of this game for someone who has played the game themselves, considering just how many bugs you tend to run into on every run. I stopped playing this game sometime mid-last year or earlier and I don't plan on returning to it until the DLC drops, so it's nice to have an idea of how much has changed and how much has stayed the same from someone who's actually playing the game all the way through on a consistent basis. Hopefully, you aren't going insane, cause some of these bugs would still drive me up the wall, personally, lol.
I didnt get many bugs, and I seem to notice that theyre very system persistent. Meaning they will happen in the same way, independenty of your save and settings, as long as your machine ks the same. Very weird, very weird
Going into every combat encounter gave me the idea, what if you didn't? What if you always had to stealth and could only so stealth damage (or takedowns if that's too easy)
2077 is too much of a powerfantasy to really bend around that imho. Stealth dmg only too easy, takedowns aren't really supported as a gamemechanic enough to play entire game solely using it. Stealth has far too much support and tricks innately built into the game that it's the "easy way" of playing cyberpunk. You'd have to have ultra limiting long list of "you cannot"s to make that even a challenge and it would be more time consuming than a challenge cus without limits you are the broken netrunner metabuild. And even if you were to write down a list of what you can't do chances are you'd still have double as much broken stealth stuff to do that'd mitigate the challenge. Takedowns only would be just anal to do, doable, yes but... I mean at like third encounter doing that you will get bored and burned out on it. I tried xd. It takes far longer via takedowns for any random encounter to the degree it become super sloggy and slow way of doing the videogame. Without ping at minimum you'd run into security cameras an force a reload every few minutes. Sometimes game will just automatically force you to get spotted too since it's hardcoded to, so there's that. Optical camouflage cyberware asks you have 10k, and has no other requirements. (i mean unlocking the map? leveled loot could drop it.) And after that you are a anime character going around fully undetectable and invisible even when you are applying katana to their face. You'd have to run without an operating system to make it challenging and even then, proper gearsetup, few cyberware like kerenzikov, self ice and opticalcamo, wouldn't matter much if you don't have a OS. Throwing knife with some skill from stealth is twice the health normal enemies have per headshot. And that's just the pure numbers, they perk up to blind, bleed and toxin per throw etc. "full stealth" would be just metagamed netrunner if played without limitations. That's what ultimately a netrunner build supports, perks around and gains synergies from it's what runner aims to be, chasing the ultimate dmg numbers. Mid-tier runner is 100% sneaky mf, toptier is perking with extra stealth dmg amps from cool and breach protocol to spread insanity like "everything takes extra 120% dmg from everything" and half way up breach you are causing every combat encounter to remove enemies ability to communicate, see, hear, use cameras, being FF'd by their own turrets and getting always confused by every interactable on the map since you solved the breach "puzzle". And that's before legendary hacks get involved with their passives xd If you just want to be never seen, yeah, it wouldn't really be a challenge either unless you like, only use white items or something and that isn't really feasible way stealth works. If you damage someone they will respond by "pointing at you" and going into combat unless the damage kills em outright, they see a body they all start spamming ping and that's that. Self-ICE helps but that too has a cooldown that's essentially single use per encounter. You'd have to sneak in and out for cooldowns and do that dance everytime you f up some minor thing. If you just go in without limitations with stealth approach and aim to clear em out rapido, drop a breach, ping and carry a throwing knife on you, it becomes derptastically easy to be undetected. It isn't some level thing either, you can just start doing that level 1.

Honestly I'd love to see a seriously overpowered Netrunner vid of yours as well some day. With the razor wires (or whatever they're called) as the only melee weapon you're allowed to use as last resort so that you don't have to spend over an hour in just one boss fight
Since you plan on doing every other challenge runs live from now on, I think it could be great to add a timer somewhere so we can see how long you have been going on the run .
I played my first game full net runner, with the mod that push even further the bonus of each gang depending of the class you started with. Placid was hell for me, I had to secretly take him by behind and break his neck which in the end didn't make the boss feel powerful anymore xD
I really love coming back to your challenge runs. I dont have a current gen system so im stuck with only 1.6 on my xbox one but this video specifically makes me want to try like a budget samurai only using rare tier katanas. I think it would be a decently fun challenge

One mod all netrunners looking for more of a challenge should use is the "no scanner time dilation". It's a game changer and I can't even play without it when I'm not netrunning, because the time dilation is so annoying once you're used to it being off. It also makes scanning while driving much cooler.

I like how Netrunners are so OP, you could hide in a high place and spam them on extremely high level enemy's and still win even though it takes a hour
On my first playthrough I never bothered to upgade my OS, cuz the Militech Paraline is good enough. The only thing I used it for, aside from the original short circuit against mechs etc was datamining, and you get v3 even with 4 buffer slots every time. Fun challenge. Love to see this game still getting love.
Contagion only has one of two uses. Clearing a pack of low level enemies that are mingles with civilians when you're farming and don't wanna annoy the cops. Or setting up for perks that require targets to be affected by a quickhack. Or for knife perks that need poisoned targets. Otherwise you need huge investment to get it to deal damage and it only seems to "shine" on significantly weaker targets. I mean it deals low damage, takes forever to spread, doesn't stagger enemies so it's just a "Hey I wanna be discovered" button... slot a legendary one in for the passive and just spread the fire one instead. Or if you're that late in the game, spread cyberpsychosis.

I experienced a lot of crashing during my last playthrough with oda too. Was playing a melee/netrunner build, and for whatever reason whenever I used contagion and got into melee range my game would crash 100% of the time.
First play through i didn't change the default cyber deck and only used ping to see through walls all the way to 50 street cred. Went from that to the sandevistan that fingers sells and realized how broken sandevistan/blood pump/gorilla arms/street brawler is.
as of 2.1, I can confirm that the airship wiggle still happens, though for me the wiggle also crashed me. Gotta love having a PC so far under recommended specs that simply booting the game can crash my PC XD

I think it could have been true to the spirit of the run had you allowed yourself to use quickhacks of higher than rare quality, so long as they were either looted from enemies or given as mission rewards, since you wouldn't have been paying your hard 'earned' eddies for them.

Honestly i didnt even realise you could get better netrunner stuff until a long way into the game. Then i randomly went into the shop for them and realised just how much id missed lol
I remember my first run as a netrunner, as soon as i got the legendary hacks it would clean full buildings from the other side of the street, it was stupidly broken.
Just thought I would share, as I'm running a Netrunner build currently. There is a glitch I ran into where Panam Rubber Bands into your vehicle and nearly kills you by using the physics engine to launch you away. While "riding the dirt". It made for 20 minutes and several reloads of laughter. Because every time she hits the Bike/Vehicle, you go rocketing off into the sky, in a random direction. all while she is whining about how bad her life is, like "Really, yeah it's so bad for you, Panam. My vehicle is gone, and I think you sent me into space. I can't even see the ground at the moment, but you are so right it sucks to be you, yup." Just thought I would share, for watching for in future videos. It only happens after you and Panam go to knock out Anders Hellman. (it happened on both driving parts from the crash site to the Gas Station. I literally lost two vehicles from it. Which made it even more hilarious). I really hope you get that bug too soon, for content sake ^.^
Here's a tip for anyone who does blades or brawler this may work with altletics as well don't pick stamina decreases right away or at all it will hurt you skill progression ur better off increasesl your stamina or stamia recovery
Always use breech protocol. It costs nothing but time and boosts your abilities. Short Circuit is you good friend as the game progresses. Why the game blocks certain abilities at times I have no idea. I do other missions and wait on clouds or voodoo boys until I'm lv30 or so, have Comrades hammer. It makes life easy.

When i played i forgot cyberware was a thing and ran the default stuff the whole time until i wanted to make a build after i beat the game and was like oh fuck
Not even stealth takedowns, all must be graples, theres a perk in cool that makes your quick attacks stagger enemies and allow you to graple them. If you force it to be stealth takedowns the will be a LOT of running and hiding every time he gets spotted. This atleast allows him to do something _in combat_
I genuinely don't think this run would be possible now with the 2.0 hacking changes. If you do update it for Phantom Liberty though, I'd be interested to see you redo it from the beginning to deal with the way hacking works now. Maybe getting to use any of the tier 1 cyberdecks to try and use the right deck to compensate for the much lower level quickhacks.
Taking out the ENTIRE security team to rescue hanako by crouching in the yard was insane lol and NONE of them died??? So we got brownie points??? Like OKAY LOL
First off: big fan of yours, love your CP videos (CP nerd myself). With that out of the way: Imho that would be a "no you can't" for me. I understand that you kept on going with the quicksafe/quickload cheat because your audience wanted you to, and there is nothing wrong about that - But : Having watched each and everyone of your CP-challenge-runs, If I understand your "unwritten rules" correctly, the moment it only works with cheats like this one, is the moment it does not work. Can't remember you did something similar before, if I am not wrong, you did beat all the challenges before without a "shortcut" like this one. Nonetheless it was an entertaining vid (The Return Of The Fan, The Torture Of Fighting Oda, The Adam Meh Smasher Final Fight).
On my first playthrough I have no idea how the perk system really works or how to convine everything so I played it with randomp erks and never knew that ripperdocs seell you better cyberware so this is kinda how my gameplay looked

A full fletched out netrunner build is not only extremely op / broken, but also becomes very boring very quick, even on hard mode.

He could easily do a takedown only run given how even adam smasher can be killed after 3 stealth takedowns. Just need stuff like flashbangs

Contagion is really good when combined with that perk that makes your quickhacks do more damage while the target is already affected by one.

On my first playthrough I never bothered to upgade my OS, cuz the Militech Paraline is good enough. The only thing I used it for, aside from the original short circuit against mechs etc was datamining, and you get v3 even with 4 buffer slots every time.
Fun challenge. Love to see this game still getting love.
Best part of a netrunner build, you can punch fingers without worrying about missing the sandy

Contagion only has one of two uses.
Clearing a pack of low level enemies that are mingles with civilians when you're farming and don't wanna annoy the cops.
Or setting up for perks that require targets to be affected by a quickhack. Or for knife perks that need poisoned targets.
Otherwise you need huge investment to get it to deal damage and it only seems to "shine" on significantly weaker targets.
I mean it deals low damage, takes forever to spread, doesn't stagger enemies so it's just a "Hey I wanna be discovered" button... slot a legendary one in for the passive and just spread the fire one instead. Or if you're that late in the game, spread cyberpsychosis.
Breach protocol has a time limit before it can be used again, same goes for all the other daemons

I experienced a lot of crashing during my last playthrough with oda too. Was playing a melee/netrunner build, and for whatever reason whenever I used contagion and got into melee range my game would crash 100% of the time.
yeah there's some crazy bug for sure right now.
Maybe the it was self-aware and didn't just crash enemies but also the game

First play through i didn't change the default cyber deck and only used ping to see through walls all the way to 50 street cred. Went from that to the sandevistan that fingers sells and realized how broken sandevistan/blood pump/gorilla arms/street brawler is.

as of 2.1, I can confirm that the airship wiggle still happens, though for me the wiggle also crashed me. Gotta love having a PC so far under recommended specs that simply booting the game can crash my PC XD

I think it could have been true to the spirit of the run had you allowed yourself to use quickhacks of higher than rare quality, so long as they were either looted from enemies or given as mission rewards, since you wouldn't have been paying your hard 'earned' eddies for them.
Bro you are the goat of these playthroughs, i watch every single one of them and they are never boring to watch.

Honestly i didnt even realise you could get better netrunner stuff until a long way into the game. Then i randomly went into the shop for them and realised just how much id missed lol

Should've played this challenge on a low end PC for a complete experience.
I remember my first run as a netrunner, as soon as i got the legendary hacks it would clean full buildings from the other side of the street, it was stupidly broken.
Just thought I would share, as I'm running a Netrunner build currently. There is a glitch I ran into where Panam Rubber Bands into your vehicle and nearly kills you by using the physics engine to launch you away. While "riding the dirt". It made for 20 minutes and several reloads of laughter. Because every time she hits the Bike/Vehicle, you go rocketing off into the sky, in a random direction. all while she is whining about how bad her life is, like "Really, yeah it's so bad for you, Panam. My vehicle is gone, and I think you sent me into space. I can't even see the ground at the moment, but you are so right it sucks to be you, yup."
Just thought I would share, for watching for in future videos. It only happens after you and Panam go to knock out Anders Hellman. (it happened on both driving parts from the crash site to the Gas Station. I literally lost two vehicles from it. Which made it even more hilarious). I really hope you get that bug too soon, for content sake ^.^

Here's a tip for anyone who does blades or brawler this may work with altletics as well don't pick stamina decreases right away or at all it will hurt you skill progression ur better off increasesl your stamina or stamia recovery

Netrunner at home:
Always use breech protocol. It costs nothing but time and boosts your abilities. Short Circuit is you good friend as the game progresses. Why the game blocks certain abilities at times I have no idea. I do other missions and wait on clouds or voodoo boys until I'm lv30 or so, have Comrades hammer. It makes life easy.

When i played i forgot cyberware was a thing and ran the default stuff the whole time until i wanted to make a build after i beat the game and was like oh fuck

Hey bro try this, you can spec only into cool and can’t use any weapons, all of your kills must be stealth takedowns
Not even stealth takedowns, all must be graples, theres a perk in cool that makes your quick attacks stagger enemies and allow you to graple them.
If you force it to be stealth takedowns the will be a LOT of running and hiding every time he gets spotted. This atleast allows him to do something _in combat_

I genuinely don't think this run would be possible now with the 2.0 hacking changes. If you do update it for Phantom Liberty though, I'd be interested to see you redo it from the beginning to deal with the way hacking works now. Maybe getting to use any of the tier 1 cyberdecks to try and use the right deck to compensate for the much lower level quickhacks.

First off: big fan of yours, love your CP videos (CP nerd myself). With that out of the way: Imho that would be a "no you can't" for me. I understand that you kept on going with the quicksafe/quickload cheat because your audience wanted you to, and there is nothing wrong about that - But :
Having watched each and everyone of your CP-challenge-runs, If I understand your "unwritten rules" correctly, the moment it only works with cheats like this one, is the moment it does not work. Can't remember you did something similar before, if I am not wrong, you did beat all the challenges before without a "shortcut" like this one.
Nonetheless it was an entertaining vid (The Return Of The Fan, The Torture Of Fighting Oda, The Adam Meh Smasher Final Fight).

On my first playthrough I have no idea how the perk system really works or how to convine everything so I played it with randomp erks and never knew that ripperdocs seell you better cyberware so this is kinda how my gameplay looked
