He was one of the earliest people in the west who was an admirer of ho chi minh and it gained a lot more relevance during the war against america in the 60s. After the Japanese defeat in WWII, Ho Chi Minh delivered a speech, declaring Vietnamese independence, which he opened with quoting the United States' declaration of independece: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. " He, just like the Vietnamese people, wasn't anti-American at all. He admired the United States. If the US hadn't decided to take the side of French colonialism instead of granting the Viatnemese independece, that entire Vietnam war clusterfuck wouldn't have happened.
If the US hadn't entered the war, Vietnam would have really had peace since then and our country would have developed a lot more.
