    In the realm of computers you can look at it this way:
    Empty set within an empty set: {Ø}
    - Documents folder

      So, {a set} -> {a "folder", a "box"}, or
      {a folder, a box} -> {a set}. Is that so? :-)
      is - Ф - a folder, a box, or is - {Ф} - a folder, a box?
      Which one of them is a "box" or a "folder"?
      Remember, the author refers to Ф as a box?

      I'm in college for CS, and one of my teachers taught one of my classes almost 70% through LinkedIn Learning, which was from a teacher that was fantastic. If people would just get over the whole "You aren't educated unless you went to college" shtick, then we could actually have affordable education. I don't think a course on LinkedIn Learning would cost me 9 thousand a year, but it's teaching me the same thing. So dumb.

    A useful analogy I've heard for 7:20 is think of sets as boxes. If you have a box with nothing in it, then that box is empty so it is size 0, but if that box was in a larger box, then that larger box would have 1 box inside, even if that box inside is empty.

      Nah, The Organic Chemistry Tutor is not nearly as good as Trev; he never proves formulas and blindly applies them.

    I've got a Ph.D in maths (optimization of charged positively ions)
    This is a great refresh for me. Set Theory us very important in Computer Science for grouped elements, as is Field Theory and Galios Theory.

    I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm supposed to be taking this course next semester and I don't know what to expect from my professor. You make this easy to follow. I'm still confused about the empty set but I guess I'll just keep watching that part until I understand it lol. Thanks for the upload! You've earned a new sub

    This was wonderful. I remember when I was in high school and our math teacher, who had taught conventional math for years struggled through this the whole semester. It was laughable. I think he had PTSD for a good while after that.

    I was taught that N natural numbers is from 1 upwards and if you include zero then it's called whole numbers with the symbol N_0 (N subscript 0)

    Have to take this course next summer but just taking a peek at what is to come. Just changed my major to comp sci and im scared as hell but also excited as hell! This class looks interesting and will definitely be a hell of a challenge.. anything to really focus on in this course besides obviously everything.

    • @Trevtutor
      @Trevtutor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Focus on understanding the theory instead of memorizing it. The easiest way to fail or do poorly in a math course is to just memorize how things work. In high school it's a great strategy, but not so much in college.

      TheTrevTutor great point. My study skills definitely need to improve. Practicing, working at problems, understanding what is going on is key, of course. I definitely will be prepared when it’s time to take this course for sure. You earned yourself a sub! I’ll definitely be in touch for more advice, if permissible, in the future. Thank you!
