At 6:07, are you using green at + and red as -? The dot should have pin 16 above it and it should go to + not the negative rail.

7:36 The fourth digit which is far right is not stable. I have the same problem.

A 100nf capacitor as close as possible to the 74hc595 VCC pin should do the trick.
