i left a review on aseprite years ago, one of my two reviews of several hundred products in my library, saying that even after the 6000 hours i had at the time, i still find new tools every so often over 11000 hours now, and ive never seen this before- im not sure ive ever even bothered to hit that ink icon, lmao
i love how asprite to people who dont commonly use it looks like mspaint levels of complexity while it has full on kitra levels of complexity. what makes asprite so good is that it is so easy to get into yet so complex

Aseprite is one of the most feature-rich pixel art programs I've used. It's so worth compiling manually every time. Now if only I was good at pixel art...
In Krita I use the color selection tool so I can only color said selected color and then I can change the color of the brush and only color the selection with a new color. Great for adding depth
He has a big video explaining a lot of these tools, you should absolutely check it out if you are new. I've been using aseprite for a couple years now and probably seen it like 4 times, lol. It's very good.
I use blockbench, its what basically every minecraft mods made with and it has an image creation tool, its very easy to use the wand select to selct your area you want to color and then just select a darker or lighter shade of the color you want then set the opacity low. Selecting it with the wand or selection tool just prevents accidental transparent pixels outside of the area you want to color
Hmm nice, I'm new with pixel arts but that's gonna speed up a shading and coloring process for environment asset and background, the colos that get affected is only the colors we selected which is very nice so we dont5 have to worry messing up other parts
Oh cool i just got ase this morning and wantwd to start practicing with draw overs glad i looked up how to do shading in asperite instead of just regular digital art shading hah
So I'm just happy in my ignorance, avoided that ink pot menu this whole time?! Okay, I guess I need to deep dive into the menus and buttons I've been ignoring!
orphan pixels this is really cool, makes me wanna do pixel art sometimes and aseprite might be it. I'm curious if it has layers with layer blending tho
Is there another video that explains this? I don't quite understand what I'm looking at! >_> I just understand the general vibe that apparently Aseprite is pretty cool!
Im an absolute rookie when it comes to all this but have you tried moving the colours next to each other in the pallete, Pretty sure I've seen Adam do this in one of his videos. I could be wrong though so take that advice with a pinch of salt.
@@Ddotkay I‘m glad! You can also move the colors around, but be careful not to have vertexed mode on since swapping colors would then change your image accordingly. If you want to sort them use RGB mode
Wow. Does it work with colors not near each other or is it just for shading (because it could be a very cool effect for it to completely change colors)?
Ok aseprite is great but why can't they implement a shader pen like pixel studio has? You just pick a percentage and whether you want ligher or darker and you dont have to have other colors in the palette
Every time I show Ase to anyone I show this feature. It sells the app instantly to them.

Kitra.
@@hispronounsaretheythem kitra is not a pixel art program formost. it is however an amazing digital art program.
WHAT?!
how long has that been in there???
more videos like this please!
For almost ever I think!
My jaw literally dropped when I saw this. Now I've got to see if there are any other tricks in Aseprite to learn. This is amazing! 😮

its so worth, that i even purchased a copy.
since well, the source code is not open source and forbids commercial use

Yeah but the main feature is missing. Saving your image in an actual raw indexed palette file format.

This is so simple yet so OP.
might be useful for bigger pieces but i tend to do sketching in csp and then use it as reference in aseprite

I do similar concept but opposite, I make a full-color thumbnail in Aseprite and then do a full illustration/painting in CSP or Krita

your videos and tutorials helped me immensely when i started freelancing a year ago, thank you so much man

Basically it's a color replace
Replacing the first color you chose with the next color on the list
This is a less flexible version of the multishade tool in Pro Motion NG. ProMotion has had this feature for many years.
And now I’m subbed!
hey so quick question how do you make your color pallets and stuff like how you have it go from darkest to lightest and stuff
GET OUTTA HERE, NO WAY! Thank you sir!
i have had ase for 2 years and have put 1k hours into it.
how have i not seen this until now.
Magic... Just magic... You wizard!!!
Going to get this now
holy shit this is the secret sauce how have i never used that tool
I had no idea about this Holy crap
Insane
Seems useful but I’m so used to just using magic wand for each color.
Well sadly it's not working for me. Am I doing something wrong? I'd really like to have this working, it would be very handy.
That's very similar to how Doom's shader works! neat!
What a game changer
what if the shaded versions of colors are not next to each other? when i drag the colors around the whole sprite gets messed up
