  • Where do ideas come from? In this cinematic vlog set between Japan and Melbourne I explore different narrative techniques and spontaneity. I feel that vlogs can be so much more and there is cinematic language to be found in how we vlog. Can we throw out the script? Can we be more inspired? I wanted to tell a story in a familiar yet original way, like some of the great films of cinema they use unconventional narrative process to tell a familiar story. Cinema has always benefited from improvisation or making things work. It's not just the gear, it's not the vibe. It's a lifestyle and ideology. In fact I made this on a consumer camera dji osmo 3, and plan to make every film going forward this way and have done it this way for years. I do it as a mission. creativity saved my life, it can yours. Expression is the most important thing not just gear. Take French new wave cinema, or dogme95 cinema. Take most new wave cinema movements and it’s not all just a program cut and paste its literally raw, and from the heart and soul of the creator. In this episode we visit golden Gai in Tokyo, there is snake wine, we visit capybara cafe, and look for a lost Kapital scarf. A normal day in the life told in a different way. Let’s bring fresh cinematic perspective to everything we do. This applies to all art forms. Lens it up. Film. Tell a story. Be you. This is TH-cam new wave!

a circular episode to get to the capybara :) not sure the tie in of throwing the script notes worked with me but i get the associations direction. i like the ending segment tho - certainly did wrap things up. looking forward to the next installment.

Thanks! Yeah, I've been thinking of this cinematic vlog as more episodic but with stories that fall back soon each other. Actually it was so lucky that random person sweet talked the staff to letting us all in. So happy with that. Next episode is Tokyo Disneyland :)

@@NoHomage Looking forward to that ... i certainly didnt get a chance to go to Tokyo Disneyland and the attendance issues sort of didnt help. Keep throwing styles and techniques out there ... this episode worked well in a lot of ways.

@@biot_travel thanks! Yeah, trying to do unique things with the vlog format is a bit of fun. Oh Tokyo Disneyland for us was... well let's just say it wasn't what we expected. Stay tuned :)

Hey thanks so much for watching! Glad to know you've kept with my storytelling, I do worry I've lost people so this is so nice to hear. I use premiere pro! I do everything in there makes it simple for me, I'm not doing any big effects or anything but really just trying to give the vlogs a bit of a 90's indie cinema vibe (but of course in the vloggy format) haha

@@NoHomage Def getting the 90's indie cinema vibes from your videos and I'm digging it alot are you recording in d log m and color grading every video individually or do you add a adjustment layer and just color grade the whole video.
What's 3 tips you could give me to get a 90's indie cinema vibe from a video shoot.
I've really been trying to just test out everything possible with it. Are our your vlogs written out our do you kinda go with the flow?
