Back off to weymouth tomorrow with my dog, few miles down the coast and some gorgeous peaceful beaches Also about 11 mins in is the beach where we camped last time ,didn't see a soul for 2 days ,it was amazing
Good for you. Looks like you're going to get the best of the weather. I'm literally just back from the beach. We did a bit of evening paddle boarding and the weather was perfect. Enjoy your stay. Tc
The Riviera Hotel was previously Pontins (not Butlins). It was a home for WWII evacuees (disabled children under 14 mostly from London), Fred Pontin took it over in 1958.
You're absolutely right. It was Pontins. If I said it was butlins then that's disappointing as I knew perfectly well it had been Pontins at the time of making this video.
You're absolutely right. One of the many reasons I chose to live here was that its the ideal base to explore the whole or the west country from. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment.
Did this walk along the sea front yesterday as I was due home next day. Made me very sad. 😖 I love Weymouth. Unfortunately not a local, but been visiting as long I can remember!!!
I know exactly how you feel. I used to come down this way many times a year but never wanted to go home again. I love Sunday afternoons now. Ok I've still got work to look forward to Monday but no long drive home.
I enjoyed following along, Joe. I did my own coastal walk between Bowleaze and Osmington last year (no video, sadly) and hope to return again at some point. Squash is a great shout - that bit more refreshing than water which is difficult to keep cold at this time of year. I just watched Abbie Barnes' video this morning where she walks near Osmington and finds possibly the same path closure. A great shame! Keep on walking! Good on you for offering to support local artists. All the best!
Hi Olly. Nice to hear from you again. I haven't seen Abby's one. Is that recent? At least I'm not the only one who should have checked the swcpa website before setting out lol. I like the idea of using local artist's music but it's a bit of a minefield so will have to see how it pans out. Yeah got some orange barley in. Very refreshing. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Joe.
Enjoyable walk Joe end to end. It's been a long time since I visited Weymouth but would love to return one day. I'd like to see more of the walk features as you walk mind you. Otherwise great informative video. Mark
Mark thanks for the feedback. When you say walk features do you mean the story of the walk as in maybe a map of the route, how i did for time where i stopped for lunch etc? Or is it something else I'm missing? Cheers. Joe.
@@JoeCoastal Yeah maps are always good Joe but I meant nature, flowers, rocks, buildings, coast, views - you know in your midst/features. A pleasure. I'll visit again. Peace!
There's a path just inland from the Riviera Hotel. It runs behind the hotel then turndown left along the cliff edge. That's the turn I missed first time 😁
So have i funnily enough 😁 there's nothing more pleasant though than an early morning or evening stroll along the front though. I guess this walk was just taking that to the next level. Not bad for a lockdown daily exercise 😁
There's more from my Bitesize coastpath series and you can see it by clicking on this link: th-cam.com/play/PLA_y-rXlLOtLuvKpn2SMWL97VmoyCxd9_.html
Thank you Joe not been able to get home since Sept. 2019 so a breath of Weymouth sea air is much appreciated.
Born in Bincombe, living in Normandy.
Well to be fair Normandy doesn't sound like a bad second best 😆 .
I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope you get to come home soon.
Thanks Joe. I enjoyed your walk and your funny bits and we will be re- visiting Weymouth soon. 👟👟🏖
One of my older videos this one. It's still a lovely walk if a little bit tamer than some of the others.

Weymouth is a great base and has many attractions spent many holidays there

How did you get up to Cliff from Bowleaze?
