Hi there wow poker thanks for the time to break the maths down but I’m struggling to get.85 with the calculations from the EVbet on the Twitter example you did the closest I got was .825 using .2x1+.35/2+.45/1. I have tried many other ways but this was the closest result I got. Could you please explain the maths as in dividing and Xs at which points thanks for the content.
Thank you for watching the video. I am very sorry for the slow reply. I actually didn't get any notification about your comment and found it randomly today. I think you found a typo I made when I was making the PowerPoint that I never caught. The EVbet should be 20% we lose 1 pot sized bet, 35% we win 1 pot + his 1 pot call, and 45% we win 1 pot when he just folds. EV = .2(-1) + .35(2) + .45(1) = -0.2 + 0.7 + 0.45 = 1.15 - 0.2 = 0.95. When doing the calculation it is always % something happens multiplied by amount won/lost. There shouldn't be any division (until you get into finding the 0 ev point). If it is amount lost, you multiply by a negative amount so the value gets subtracted from the EV as you can see in the equation above. Hope that helps. Thanks again for watching and for taking the time to ask the question. Best of luck with your studies and at the table.
Hello. I need someone to explain/teach me some poker math. Would you be interested in that? If you are, is there a place i can contact you to figure out the prize and stuff like that.
Sorry for the very slow reply. Unfortunately, I don't have much time these days. I recommend looking at some of the essential coaches on RunItOnce. You can get the plan for all essential videos for $25 a month and there is a lot of math content there. Or, you can contact some of the coaches for private lessons if you want. Best of luck.
I mean this is all nice and dandy, but if you're playing with people irl or you don't have those programs online, there is no way for you to calculate this as you don't have the data to do this. What do pro players do in real life tournaments?
In reality, nobody does this math anymore even away from the tables. When I first started I would literally write out the EV equations for every hand I was studying, but these days, there are too many computer programs that do it for you. The reason for understanding the equations is that it helps some people visualize how money is actually made in poker. And also, for me, it really helps tilt and my mental state understanding that the decisions I am playing are worth $50-$100 even if the pot is actually $1000 (for example). Also, the goal is to do all the math (either by hand or using a program) so often away from the tables, that when you get to actually playing it feels like instinct.
@@WowPoker thanks for the response! I have just purchased poker tracker, this will be enough to do the calculations right? My question is also, if your in a tournament in real life, what math goes through your head? I have difficulty understanding when to use lets say EV vs comparing pot odds with out percentage (So you first poker math vid vs the second), when to use which method? Thank you so much!
@@MrBosseidon Poker tracker will help you keep the stats of you and your opponents so you can use those stats to put into your calculations, but it is not a program that will do the math for you. To do that you need something like CardrunnersEV or, on the more expensive side, PioSolver, etc. Tournament math is actually more complex than what I put in this video. This is because losing chips in a tournament is worse for you than gaining chips is good for you because if your chip stack ever equals 0 you no longer have any EV in the tournament. I recommend looking into a membership at RunItOnce or some other MTT training site where they have hundreds of videos that go over the math and thought process in each situation. It is too complicated, unfortunately, to try and describe in a TH-cam comment. Best of luck to you.
could you please do some videos explaining GTO? I don't think there is any youtube video clearly explaining it and how to use it in a game scenario...

The correct formula is shown at 21:05 just the result should be .95
How can I possibly calculate this in a Live game? Is it even possible/necessary?
Literally what I’m wondering
