Happy Tuesday!!! I hope you all enjoy todays video!! 👀 Here are the procedures we practiced: 😷Temoprary Tacking Sutures: placed in cases of entropion that can’t go to surgery right away 😷 Temporary Tarsorraphy: performed in cases of proptosis where the eye is determined to be viable 😷 Hotz-Celsus: correction of simple entropion 😷 Wedge Resection: removal of small eyelid masses 😷 Trans-Palpebral Enucleation: removal of the ocular globe when eyelid, conjunctival or corneal disease is apparent
It's been my dream to be a veterinary surgeon since I was about 2 or 3. I'm 15 now and I just clicked on this video and started smiling like an idiot because I love seeing that girls like me who always wanted to be vets can grow up and achieve their dreams. thanks for making these videos!!
I have wanted to from the same age as you! I just want to be able to save these wonderful creatures that can't do it alone! ❤❤❤ Although one thing I will never look forward to is putting animals down... bc my cat was put down last yr and I bawled my eyes out so hard. That was the first time I cried abt any pet being put down. Ever. ❤
SO cool to hear you talk about all the ophthalmology procedures - the pictures were definitely helpful. I found out about a month ago I got into my top-choice for vet school, so I can't believe I'll be doing those procedures in just a few years! Good luck with finals! Will you be doing a video about how you went about picking your 4th year rotations?
No way!! Congrats!! That's amazing, I'm so happy for you!! 🥰 I'll definitely film a video talking about 4th year to explain the planning that goes into it!!
I love how Link just watches you study, it's adorable! How many years of undergrad did you take? Where I'm from everywhere recommends a 4 year undergrad and then 4 years of vet school, is it different in Canada? Just trying to figure out how many years is common for most vet students. Have a great day! Also when you work on procedures in labs do the cadavers smell like chemical or don't they have a smell (when I say chemical I mean like formaldehyde like when you do a dissection.)
He’s the best study buddy! It’s similar in Canada!! I did a 4 year undergrad before vet school! However, you can apply in your 3rd year and if you get into vet school you don’t have to do your 4th year of undergrad ☺️ I personally don’t notice much of a smell but I don’t think my nose is very sensitive!
@@yourvetamanda Thank you for your response! I have been wondering about how long undergrad takes for a while now, so thank you! I agree your dog looks like the perfect study buddy. I hope you have a great day, keep up the good work! :)
I would love some tips as a grade 11 student, what courses can I take, what are some tips, how and what can i start studying early? I live in Ontario and how can I get started on volunteering or internships oppurtuniteis?
I am a teen and, I rly want to be a vet.i am realyyyyyyyyyy obsessed with animals even the villagers think I am crazy I cry when ever i see street dog I always finish my saving by buying food for street dogs. But hopefully every dog in my village loves me more than there owners. i know how to communicate with animals and understand there feeling. what do u advice me
Hey Sarah!! I'm not sure if I have enough to say to film a whole video for it but basically I've rented the whole time I've been in vet school! There are some cheaper options such as the frat or on campus housing, however, I chose to live off campus. Since I don't work through the school year, I try to save as much money as I can from summer jobs to help with living expenses. But at the end of the day, that money doesn't cover everything so I've had to take out loans! Hope that helps!
Im didint expect that this video had food review 😂😂 It would be hard for me to fasting today. Anyway love your content about veterinar vlog, Its make me excited to be one of them one day. Love you from Malaysia 🤣❤
Hii! 😊 Im in 7th grade and been wanting to be a veterinarian, ever since my cat died in 2019. She was very special to me and I regretted not going to the vet’s when she needed me. She got put down the day I didnt wanna go, we had to put her down since she would been suffering then and she was like pooping and it had blood on it, idk whats its called but it was all over.. Im so sad that I didnt go to the vet with her, I still cry to this day and wish i went with her and the last memory with her was when she was in a cage meowing, i remember when my gram came back without my cat and i started saying in my mind “no,no,no,no.. shes in the car, right..?” I started bawling after a couple minutes. I want to be a veterinarian to save other animals lives when they deserve another chance of life. I hope i can succeed, but im not sure. I am not productive at all and got no motivation to do anything. Right now, I have all A’s except Math, i got a C+. Which Im mad about, ive also been wanting to go to oxford even tho im from the U.S, so i think i need some type of visa card or passport to get over there, i think? But ive heard that you have to take 4 years in college to get an undergraduate degree and 4 years in vet school. Is that true? And is vet school harder than med school, or no? And any tips on how to get motivation to study?
Hi Eleanor, I'm sorry to hear about your cat, you have my condolences. I just wanted to let you know that you REALLY shouldn't worry about what grades you get in 7th grade, as these do not affect your future life in any way. You only really need to start worrying at around grade 10/11, as you'd probably have important exams around then (I'm from the UK so not too sure how the American education system is). I'm also thinking about becoming a vet, but yea you shouldn't stress too much about exams at such a young age (I'm 17 and I'm glad I didn't worry too much when I was younger)
I want to be a vet technician but my school only has a premedicine program and has only a 4 year program for a bachelor of science and you know in order to be a vet technician you need a associate degree. Can i stlll be a vet technician still since i would have my bachelor's degree? and also later on i would want to be a veterinarian too but i would have to move to go there since LSU has a vet school and mcneese university doesn't only a premedicine program. What should i do?
Hello this is a random question about geulph I have! So to apply to the vet program how many years of undergrad is required? From my understanding you need 8 prereqs and you could potentially get that in the first year of undergrad so do you have to wait until your third year to apply?
hey!! Another requirement to apply is to complete 4 full-time semesters before applying! Additionally, it's really hard to complete all of the pre-reqs in your first year since some of the pre-reqs are upper year courses. For example, you need to submit a biochemistry course, but at the university of guelph, to take a biochemistry course, you need to complete both first year chemistry courses first! Which means you can't take biochemistry until second year of undergrad! Hope that helps!
Hey I'm 11 but ever since I was 8 I wanted to be a vet that specialises in canine medicine. Please could you give me some tips as it's such a big dream of mine.
You can definitely apply to vet schools abroad! For most schools in North America, you will have to take an undergraduate program before applying to vet school, but you could always do that abroad as well!!
@@yourvetamanda can you please guide me step by step 🙏, there is another thing to mention and that is our family has a huge economic crises so.... my parents won't be paying atleast 1$. So if there is any option that I can totally study for free then that would be great

Not all of us can afford a vet visit. Can you talk about the likelihood of a full grown cat passing (bowel movement) a pen cap that was swallowed? I tried to keep her indoors so I could watch her stool but, she slipped out for several hours a day after ingestion. How many days will it take problematic symptoms to appear? And how long before I can feel certain that my cat is in the clear. Thank you so much for this video and your assistance.
