- What does No CI Module and Scrambled mean in LG televisions? Also what does the PCMCIA card slot at the back of LG TV's do? In some LG televisions, some channels work fine while others will display the message “No CI Module”. Others LGTV's will display "Scrambled".
What does it mean? The short answer is that these channels are scrambled. In this video I will explain what a CI module is. I will also explain how to use it and its advantages. You will also learn about CAM cards and how they work.

Almost doesn't work or works for very short periods of time. This is for satellite though. Not worth the headache, I'd rather pay for Netflix.

How the owner of the TV can recognise that without opening the TV and look at the board inside?
A Motherboard without a CAM Card slot will be on a TV without the Slot.

DSTV does have CAM Cards but only for certain countries and difficult to get. Therefore its easier to say that they don't have the CAM card.

My TV doesn't have a cam card slot, used to watch some of the stations but now it has stopped, it's only displaying No ci module
You need a CAM Card slot to unlock those channels. If your local Pay Tv provider does not provide CAM Cards then the only solution is to buy a decoder from them.

Check if your local pay TV companies sell the CAM card. If they do you can buy it, plug it into tour TV and watch the channels

Frankly it depends on your location. Ask your local pay TV providers if they sell a CAM card.

@@milkasharon1494 no TV brand has it's own channels. If your TV has a satellite input then any dish no matter the branding will work. You just need an installer to make it work.

You need a CAM card from the channels provider. On top of that you will need to pay monthly payments for access to such channels.

My LG TV bought from Mainland China does not have such card slot. Instead, they blocked this slot via a piece of plastic. I asked LG consumer support center, they taught me that LG TV no longer has this function while China Broadcasting Network (the only company that offers terrestrial tv service) has been selling its own top-up box for a long time.

The advantage here is sing one remote control. Hacking pay TV channels is illegal and can land you in jail.
