    It was fun to watch a man at his craft. Beautiful work.

    Lot of good tips! I've always used 60% on borders and slightly kiss it with 90% to clean up the wiskers. Great video! Thanks.

    I just found your channel. I was beginning to think checkering tools were impossible to find. The only instruction I could find were in old Gunsmith Kinks books and Larry Poterfields 3 min video.

    VERY Good instruction. Could you show us your gunstock vise (holding tool) and explain how to follow the master lines to make them parallel (what tools to use). I'm 72 and about 45 years ago I checkered a Hawken 50 cal. for a friend and it looked pretty good but seeing your stock, I realize that I could have done A LOT better if I had used better tools and better practices. Thank you

    Sure is a nice stock jig. You make a hard job look easy. I suppose some stock wood is more difficult than others. Something I have never done. Thanks.

      Thank you for your question. Typically, we do offer a checkering service. At this time, we are not taking any new work.

    How many hours do you have in a job like this ( or the stock from the 1st 2 videos )?

    • @michaelullman2405
      @michaelullman2405  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      8 to 12 hours for most patterns. But it can run as high as 30 hours if it is really complicated.

      @@michaelullman2405 I was curious. I've only checkered 3 stocks and it seemed to take forever. I guess I wasn't that far off. It's taken me 12 - 16 hours, so that's not bad for a rookie. Thank you, you do beautiful work.
