    Another great tutorial from a person who cares about the fly fishing industry and helping people of all age group. I've learned a lot and used his advice and I'm 71 years young and still tying some kick but flies thanks

    Thanks for the honest advise on tools. All of us spend a great deal of money to follow our love of this sport so if we can save some 💰 here and there, all the better! I especially like your comments regarding the purchase of a bobbin. 🎣

    Renzetti is the best. I gave my son my traveler, as I bought a Stonfo while on assignment in Spain. I bought the Renzetti back in 1995 and used it till last year.since my son is heading to Appalachian State, he will need it. Agree on the scissors, nothing more frustrating than frayed cuts. Good luck on PA streams. Was on Davidson last week, super clear, low, slow water with resultant super spooky fish. Managed to eek out a few. I sent my son a link to your videos. Tnx again! Chris

      They are rock solid for sure, Chris. The sign of something good when you can still use it almost 30 years later. I would have a tough time at App State with all that trout water around;). The Davidson is a good one-they make you work hard for them. Appreciate you watching!

    Love it! Just what I needed. It would be cool to see this but for Beginner Euro Nymphing Rigs, Rods, and Reels. So many options and hard to know what is good for a beginner or if you bite the bullet and get a nice rod in the beginning.

    Trying to get the hang of all this one fly at a time, apricate your posting. How do I Not get my whip finishing tool full of super glue if I'm putting glue on the tread and then using the whip tool. ? Thanks again for taking the time to post. !

      Jerry, just simply wipe it with a paper towel . I keep one paper towel at my table with me for a variety of clean ups. When it’s beat up, I’ll throw it away and grab another. If you forget to wipe it-you can do the steel wool trick. Appreciate you watching. Good luck to you!

    Awesome timing man. Here coming up I’m about to be lent a ton of tools and materials for fly tying from a brother in law. Knowing his taste I’ll bet it’s top notch stuff. Really looking forward to getting a bunch of flies ready before early spring when it’s easier to get to the streams in my area

    Great knowledge & hacks from the Master once again! Love all your videos, I always learn great tips & tricks when I watch! I've been tying all the flies I use for the last couple of years now & I too enjoy tying thru the winter in anticipation for the spring. A few weeks ago I started tying the Jack Daniels, from your video. Can't wait to get out & try them, I found it to be a fun tie with several techniques. I'm curious as to what camera you use to make your tying videos with? I would like to do some video's also. Thanks for all you share, you've made me a better fisherman & I apprciate it!

      Thank you, Jeff! I think you are going to like the Jack Daniel's-it's one of my top flies.
      I just use my iPhone to record. I have a mic that I plug into the phone for better voice recording.
      Appreciate you watching and glad the videos are helping. Tight lines to you!

    nicely done Cory. Of all your tips the ‘less is more’ is a good reminder. I also use the supper glue on the thread. keeping the cap from adhering to the bottle is a challenge, do you have a hack to prevent that?
    Merry Christmas to you and yours

    • @OldDominionTroutBum
      @OldDominionTroutBum  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you James. I should have put it in the video....A great way to keep the cap from sticking is to put a little petroleum jelling on the threads. Problem solved-it won't stick.
      Merry Christmas to you and yours, as well!

    Thanks. I have the traveler. Can you do a video on setting it up properly? I have trouble with the rotary function. It doesn’t turn properly.

    • @OldDominionTroutBum
      @OldDominionTroutBum  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jim, it's probably too tight. You have a knob on the side facing you that allows you to loosen or tighten the rotary tension. There is also one on the arm, as well. Hope this helps.

    Great tips for us new tiers. One of your recommendations is to use another fly to look at for proportions. I’m two hours from the nearest fly shop so I have to order one for an example or should I measure a picture of the fly with a 6” ruler to get an estimate of the proportions or do you have another suggestion ?

    • @OldDominionTroutBum
      @OldDominionTroutBum  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad they help. No need to go to a shop and buy. I have some tying videos and try to talk about proportions when I tie. There are other wonderful tyers out there that show you well tied flies (Dave McPhail, Kelly Gallop, Tim Flagler, Cheech from Fly Fish Food to name a few). You just need to look at them and compare. Hope this helps. Good luck with your tying and tight lines. (a 6in ruler is good to have though)

    Howdy Cory..sum good tips..wanted to ask u how u like the galvin euro reel.. just got diamondback nymph rod..I’m also looking at DB reel….any cons with galvin..thanks love the show

    • @OldDominionTroutBum
      @OldDominionTroutBum  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Fudd. Thanks so much. The Galvan is a fabulous reel. Purpose built. I really love it and you can’t go wrong. A great drag and zero start up. If there was a con, it would be that the drag isn’t sealed….but it isn’t on the DB either. I don’t have any experience with the DB reel-but have heard great things about it. Hope this helps.
