Chris you're an absolute legend .... This solved my s-max issue and saved £££'s in lost labour diagnostics. Well done and keep up the amazing work you do. Can you clone yourself and then post to Dorset....😀

Very nice, how do you charge your customers ? I find it very hard explaining to customer that I am charging for the time to find the cause rather then jointing wires

Hi Evan, great question. I find that some customers don't understand how involved some diagnostic work can be. To be fair it's not something they would really go out of their way to find out. As a trade we've given the general public the idea that the scan tool does all the work & that its not the knowledge & skill of the technician.
I'll generally book a customer in for an hours initial assessment, then discuss with them on the best way to proceed. It did help in this case that i was working on his driveway so he could see the efforts going into getting him driving again

@@ams-mobileuk7226 Hi! My car doing that, it is 2. Diesel 2010, it began failing to start, and in two weeks time it was worse and worse, was just a luck it will start or not. One basic mechanic with basic knowledge about electronics tried to help me, so he found that in the start relay you showed before in fuse box one of four contacts which is left side of the relay verticaly positioned one, not getting grounding. Sometimes it does than car starts but most of times not. At the moment it is dead not starting at all. So he just uncover that relay and said that I can start a car by pressing a small contact plate on the relay, so manual start. Just to keep me going for time being, but with this method I don't need to press the clutch, my key do not have to be in the car. Just neutral and ignition on and it start doing that way manually which is strange, if I sit in the car and press the clutch, the dashboard screen saying press clutch to start responds fine. But for manual start it doesn't matter. So what it could be? Where the wire comming from the that left side relay contact in fuse box...? Can you help please? If you are not to far I would maybe take my car to you....
