    Because I live above the Arctic Circle In Northern Alaska.
    Most knives don't do well in extreme cold weather around -70° and below.
    I've owned this knife for 2 years.
    It's never failed me yet.
    Most knives shatter in extreme cold weather.
    Condor did a great job on this knife.
    Any Top's or ESSE will shatter quickly up here.
    Why do other big companies knives shatter up here?
    Because of their heat treat processing.
    This knife isn't for wimpy city hands.
    This is a real woodsman knife.

    • @ChuckinSteel
      @ChuckinSteel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would think maybe it's bc of the heat treat when they shatter in the cold . They did a fantastic job on this knife and the 1975 is tougher the 1095. 👊

      @ChuckinSteel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow that's a good buy 👏 I paid 110$ for mine a few years ago. The new one is supposed to have a better done edge. Mine came with a really really fat convex so I fixed it to my liking but it's a wonderful knife and I want to get my hands on the new one with the flatter grind. It goes with me nearly every time I go to the woods. Let me know if you get the newer one or an older mod bc I'm sure they will want to sell all the older models b4 starting the new ones. Either way it's a great knife and I didn't mind doing the edge work to fit my uses. Thank you for watching and commenting brother. I hope it works for you as good as it does for me. 👊

      @@ChuckinSteel I completely agree with your review. Sheath needs oil, blade is actually really nice, nothing a strop didn’t completely take care of. Its nice and sharp now. The convex blade is not fat at all. It’s nice and high which I was hoping for. Maybe Condor was listening. The knife kinda reminds me of a unrefined Tops Bob. The Bobs sheath is much better and the Bob itself is finished very nicely. Verdict is….its a keeper. I’ll be using it this weekend.

    I've got the sister knife of this one - the Toki (basically Selknam without the coconut breaker) - and I agree completely. The shealth is great for storage and the knife is just beautiful. Yes, the convex is a bit wide for my liking, and the knife is not as 'good' at bushcrafting as some others, but I trade that for my love of the design, the feel, and the look. Great knife

    I would like to see more on this knife. I have become a huge fan of Condor. I've been using the Swamp Romper for a few years, and recently picked up the Selknam. The only downfall I can see in the Selknam is the grind. I am so used to the scandi grind of the Condor.
    Pros: Batoning, chopping, fire starting
    Cons: Feather sticks, fine whittling

    • @ChuckinSteel
      @ChuckinSteel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The new one has more of a scandi grind. They changed it in the middle of the yr last yr. Another guy bought one of Amazon after watching my video and he said his had the new grind. Mine was a really thick convex so I changed it to a scandivex.

I am into survival and bushcraft big time. Any one of those knives will be great for your trap line but the Joker Nessmuk is stainless and you wouldn't have to keep oiling your knife so much. If you end up getting a carbon steel knife just keep cooking oil on it and that way its 100% food safe and you don't have to worry about it. It's not as good as knife oils but it does the job and it's 100% non toxic. I want to wish you good luck on your new trap line and let me know when you get your first critter.
