A quote from the Express article:
"The 10 active foreign aid programmes cover multiple years, with one £206 million fund to improve agricultural productivity in developing countries launching in 2012 and running through to 2031.However many began less than five years ago, including nearly £1 million to bring about “economic transformation in Ghana through developing markets for agriculture and trade”.
To me this seems like a Conservative policy that Labour have continued? Plus I'm sure it works out cheaper to help people in their countries than to deal with them as migrants here/in Europe?

If Starmer feels the NEED to introduce inheritance tax on farms, IMMEDIATELY, to fund the NHS and to, IMMEDIATELY, address the alleged ‘black hole’, how is the introduction of this measure going to address his needs. If, after April 2026, the head of a farm passes away, there will be a period of evaluating their estate, followed by up to 10 years to make the payment. Surely, by spending/allocating funds now, with no return from the inheritance tax for possibly 11-12 years, surely he is making the ‘black hole’ larger 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ why not address the obscene profits made by the corporate giants???

Another thoughtful argument from Gareth, thankyou. Apparently the treasury figures were based on an error, thinking that acres and hectares are the same! And that is why defra and the treasury figures are at variance, if we assume that the average size of farm expressed in acres is then valued at the per acre cost but using hectares instead of acres, then we can see why they set the threshold so low.
