yes I think we can do it, but Rodri injury is a big factor. We were behind until he went off at weekend & him out will be a big loss to them. Also, definitely need Ode back as our attack looks a bit limp without him (our defenders scoring our recent goals).
Can't get away from the fact that Michael Oliver has issued 7 red cards to Arsenal players and 0 to Man City players. That is a statistical improbability. We saw him deliberately not red card Kovacic last season for two dreadful fouls. There is ample evidence that Refs referee Arsenal and Arteta differently to every other club and manager. Incidentally we are treated better by refs in European games.
There’s way too much coincidence for there not to be foul play at this point. Two seasons ago, they got the Brentford goal against us, and the KDB last second dive at Fulham to reel us in. Last season they get the Doku/Mac decision in the most crucial match of the season. Then this year, here comes Oliver to save the day. I genuinely can’t think of one of bad call that has gone against them.

I've heard a lot of people talk about this lately and I have to say nobody has expressed themselves better than James. Huge credit to the way you have articulated yourself and the PGMOL could learn so much from listening to this show. Big up to Sheroy as well!
It's not about the rules. They can be good or bad rules, it is about the consistent implementation of these good or bad rules. Right now Arsenal can rightly point to incidents that they have been penalised for that other teams aren't being penalised for.
Arteta tried to teach the boys the importance of being switched on no matter the circumstance with the pick pockets episode. They switched off for 2 seconds in the City game for the corner and that's how it ended a draw. People may laugh at Arteta's ways but he knows exactly what he's doing or talking about
Arsenal under wenger later days was being accused of soft under belly, no other way of playing, no cojones etc etc...now suddenly possesion has become extreme important, playing the right way that too with 10 men has become crucial, set peice goals are frowned upon...dont want to say this but it is us against them all combined...19 teams, refrees, pundits, media, some egomaniac arsenal fans as well..who wants arsenal to fail so that they are proven ultimate visionary
I can tell you the last time i saw a player sent off for kicking the ball away, RvP at the Nou Camp. Pretty sure we were going through on away goals at that point as well, and then the ref decides he wants to be the main event. These are huge games and everytime the refs want to spoil the f*cking party
We didn't have Partey for the better part of the season in 2023/24 as well. Let City deal with that absence as well. Let's not forget Saliba's injury the season before then. We were called bottlers instead of getting sympathy
We have a similar problem in America with some Major League Baseball Umpires who feel they are outsized figures in the game and they can’t be questioned and have an attitude that backs them into bad decisions they keep to save face. In America we also had an NBA ref on the take. Not saying Premier League refs are cheating, but it’s not beyond the realm of concern.
Statistically it's impossible for it to be just bad luck for Arsenal especially when you consider the team we are playing is doing the same thing. I understand you guys have to be pc but at this point every arsenal fan has been seeing this since Wenger
I don't wish serious injuries on players, but Rodri didn't get injured because of fatigue. It was a freak injury as a result of him trying to con the referee (again), so excuse me if the irony isn't lost on me. That's not to say his message isn't correct though, I stand by him on that. The fact they played Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening is a disgrace
I don’t want to believe there’s foul play, but it’s hard to say there isn’t at this point. Each time City get into a little trouble, without fail the refs or VAR come along and bail them out. 2 seasons ago, we’re on the verge of breaking away from City. We then get the Brentford goal and KDB gets the last second dive against Fulham to reel us back in. Last season, City get off to a slow start, Arsenal get done over at Newcastle, Liverpool get done against Spurs. Then in the biggest match of the year, here comes Oliver to not give the pen against Doku. Fast forward to this season and we get what happened Sunday. It’s just too much of a coincidence that City never get any of these awful levied against them. While at the same time, it seems as if 75% of the awful rulings that happened benefit them in some way.
The amount of games that the top teams have to play is mad. Domestic League, Extended UCL format/European, 2x Domestic Cups, Club world cup, International friendlies/Nations league, Continent/World cup. It's mad to think a player could potentially be playing over 90 minutes at high intensity for 4 times in the space of 10 days, with travel time and training days. Personally I'd scrap Nations League, 1 domestic cup and the Club world cup.
They don’t play too much football, every team can have a 25 man squad. It is then up to that manager and medical staff discuss and keep an eye on players fitness. Plus every team can make 5 subs a game, the top teams have top talents on there bench so there game shouldn’t drop as much and against the lower down the table sides they can rotate and still win. Look at other profession’s like a brick layer, they work 40-50 hour weeks transferring bricks, laying bricks, making cement, moving heavy equipment around and don’t make 10% of what a football makes in a month, prison guards, they have to deal with some of the worst of the worst, get abuse thrown at them, have to fight with inmates and they can do up to 60 hour work weeks, doctors can do up to 18 hour shifts where they have to sleep when and where they can and then get up and organised within 2 minutes to attend a patient and try and save there life, the armed forces they can go away from the family and loved ones for 3-6 months at a time sometimes longer with no contact to make sure there country is safe but these multi millionaires, with the best medical care, the best sport scientists, hundreds of thousands a week can’t play 3 times in 7/8 days come on now there’s people out there that would kill to be in there possession.
It is a best an assumption that Rodri's injury is due to too many games. And even if so, I'd start with the club first to question how many non competitive games are arranged. With the improvement in sports science, we should know how much players can take and if the clubs continue to play them, blame is on them. Then the pointless international matches that are injected in the league schedules. On point of favourites for league, way too early know impact of missing players. Let's see where we are by November end.
Yesterday I think the City players realized that Arsenal that are now the best team in the league and that's why they were so rattled at the end of the match. They couldn't beat a 10 man Arsenal ...They came to within 20 seconds of losing to 10 man Arsenal. Hence Haaland's behavior and comments by Silva... I really think we will win the league too. City are so worried and it shows.
I’m not hearing this to much football, we have a summer and a winter window to get your squad ready for the season and you have a 25 man squad, rotate if your players aren’t fit, rotate to keep the sharpness and competition in your squad high plus there’s also 5 subs in a game there’s plenty of ways to avoid injuries throughout the season and if they weren’t ready to play the medical team would let the managers know
I think fan channels like this should simply come out and say it - City PROBABLY own the media and the refs. Remember, this is a human rights abusing, literal evil group in the City ownership. It's well within reason to assume that these "off the ball oil tactics" extend deep into roots of the game in England. 115 charges. We've all said it so much I think people are forgetting just how collosal it is to have been charged for one hundred and fifteen different unique charges by the league. Arsenal are against more than just a top manager and squad. I'd even go so far as to say that the City team knows they get preferential treatment. I would suggest that Pep instructs his team to bait fouls because they know the ref will respond. The first half was rife with city players looking for opportunities to bait fouls, starting with the literal first seconds of the game with Rodri. Bernardo Silva knew exactly what he was doing when he saw Trossard running for the 50/50. I think it should be a bookable offense to NOT go for the 50/50 and bait a foul in those situations. These players are endangering themselves and making a mockery of what officiating ought to be.
I do enjoy your analysis James B and listen to your content quite across all channels your turn up for. Please relax the vulgar language. The point can still be emphasized without swearing.
Isn't Sheroy a judge? It's pretty appalling to hear a judge says that the fault is all on the rules/laws and that the judge isn't expected to use good judgement. That is really crazy! The rules/laws exist to give the judge/ref power in the worst case scenario, not to apply like robots regardless of the context.
Is it me or Sheroy looks like the Indian version of young pep? Lol just saying picture him bold…. No wonder why he’s already killing it in the YT scenes
Mistakes happen, although they shouldn't with VAR. Teams fighting for relegation often get the short end of the stick, getting more ridiculous mistakes, and the ones that get more against them usually go down. The bar is very low, but "taken to rules to the extreme" is exactly what I feel refs are doing in the Arsenal games, acting like football agnostic narcissistic sociopaths, being handed the rulebook for the first time. And one more thing, and I echo some of the people here, when coincidences accumulate they become a statistic. And most often then not, statistics tell the story.
An amazing and dynamic duo. We rattled City. Some of the City players are arrogant and spoilt. We need to show them that we will not sit down and settle any more of the nonsense that City and other teams think they can throw in our direction. The likes of Henry, Keown, Adam’s, Campbell, Toures, Pires were all imposing and intimidating. Bring back those days. We cannot lie down and allow any team or player to walk all over us. They give us crap we give crap back to them. No one is entitled to the title so Akanji needs to shut the hell up. We need to make them eat their words. Snatch the title from underneath them. I am sick of the attitude from some City players, same old in that they just expect teams to roll over. The rest of those teams in the league who have not bottle or ambition to beat City, be careful because you are becoming a puppet and their pet and if you want your definition of success is throwing in the towel to please City then you need to take a long hard look at yourself and why you put on your teams jersey. Come on you Gunners. We can do this!
Loved your insights about the referring.. by focussing on the law they are ignoring the principles of why it was there in the first place. Yea getting a yellow card for kicking the ball is per the law, but what was the original intention of such a law? Did it disrupt the flow of the game? Was it deliberate attempt to delay? Was there time wasting tactic involved in kicking of the ball?
As a neutral, Right now I'm 60/40 Arsenal for winning the league. Just because of how light and in some areas aged City's squad is looking. The next few games for City is big. Depends on how they recover after such a psychologically draining 72hrs and losing their best player. Can't forget about Liverpool too.
Guys yesterday was the first time I said “MY MANAGER” when Haaland said that to mikel and I’m not even a artetasexual. Batton down the hatches guys it’s time to go to warrrrrr!!!
Two years ago Arsenal could go away to Etihad and Anfield and we would celebrate if we got a draw. I firmly believe now we go to these places and we have all the ingredients to get all 3 points. After this 2-2 at Etihad I also think the tide has started to turn against City. The most important aspect though is Arsenal remaining consistent against the not so caller big teams. Also does anyone think Arteta and Edu are plotting a surprise coup for a striker in January? I believe they have done all the ground work in summer to make it happen. COYG.
IMO assuming the refs are doing their best to be fair, the only explanation is IMPLICIT BIAS. When you believe City are better than everyone else, you are more likely to apply logic to City and Letter of the law to opponents when making interpretations of punitive rules.
Who’s MORE confident Arsenal will win the league than they were a week ago?
Definitely more confident than last week. The next 4 games, all at home ,3 competitions. If we win all 4, then I'll really believe. Hopefully our creativity flows vs Leicester.

The next step for us as an Arsenal fan base is to start to ignore nonsensical and stupid comments about how we play and what we do. Just ignore them. Not important. Should not bother us at all
I've heard a lot of people talk about this lately and I have to say nobody has expressed themselves better than James.
That fencing and alley scuffle analogy by Sheroy was gold.
You do have an influence. There is a feeling about this team. Coyg!
Great podcast lads.
Ooh interrupting eachother andl owning up to it...battle of the gentlemen 😂😂🎉
We didn't have Partey for the better part of the season in 2023/24 as well. Let City deal with that absence as well. Let's not forget Saliba's injury the season before then. We were called bottlers instead of getting sympathy
The PGMOL are going to do everything they can to prevent us from winning the league.
Past stoppage time Trossard doesn’t need to be passing. Blasting ball away was perfectly reasonable thing to do.
💯
Great talk
I don't wish serious injuries on players, but Rodri didn't get injured because of fatigue. It was a freak injury as a result of him trying to con the referee (again), so excuse me if the irony isn't lost on me.
That's not to say his message isn't correct though, I stand by him on that. The fact they played Sunday afternoon and Tuesday evening is a disgrace
Double yellow red was given to Gerrard after being on the pitch fir 2 mintes as a sub.
Biggest issue is that the PGMOL and the media see no problem with the refereeing because it's Arsenal. So nothing is gonna change
The legacy media and X pros will only start acting differently towards us when we win something big
Rodri got away with tactical fouls because he was less animated than other players.
I’m not hearing this to much football, we have a summer and a winter window to get your squad ready for the season and you have a 25 man squad, rotate if your players aren’t fit, rotate to keep the sharpness and competition in your squad high plus there’s also 5 subs in a game there’s plenty of ways to avoid injuries throughout the season and if they weren’t ready to play the medical team would let the managers know
Great show guys really enjoyed it
Don't care what anyone says, I'm celebrating Rodri's acl daily until he's back
11:58 but Sheroy we have always been refereed differently even when where going up against Man u in the 2000's always, case in point the 49 run
love you too ❤
Post match interviews for refs need to start happening RIGHT NOW.
Mark Golbridge talks about Michael Oliver well
I think fan channels like this should simply come out and say it - City PROBABLY own the media and the refs.
In my defence i did go through the whole podcast and mute the words. But yes, in future as we have in the past we won’t be as strong on the language
"IMPLICIT BIAS". ASK gooner Lee about this term. As a fellow teacher, he may be able to extrapolate on this term. I think it applies.
City's perception of invisibility has been shattered.
The only problem this season for us is the injuries. I’m really worried
Truth be told , Rodri faked a foul on to harvats in 5 seconds in to the match, what goes around comes around
Rodri injured in the 20th minute that where the game turnt ... The next minute a Calfiori wonder goal and then a set piece
If you are the best team you have no excuses not to win the league
Loved your insights about the referring.. by focussing on the law they are ignoring the principles of why it was there in the first place.
Yea getting a yellow card for kicking the ball is per the law, but what was the original intention of such a law?
Did it disrupt the flow of the game? Was it deliberate attempt to delay? Was there time wasting tactic involved in kicking of the ball?
It's ours. They can winge, moan, cry, complain and interview til kingdom come; its ours.
Whats sheroys channel?
Love him too as james
Can find me on @SheroysVoice my friend! 🫶🏽
Arsenal got Lee Mason sacked. That started the war with the PGMOL.
@@j_dyme 😂❤️💪
Common sense is in the law
Yeah but if you’re relying on these refs to use common sense then you’re in trouble.
