So happy Happy Whale is getting this recognition. Many of us have added our little pieces to their database so they can continue doing this great service.
This story gives me hope for more people to become personally involved with conservation one humpback whale at a time. Our planet, no matter what small space each one of us occupies, needs our help to survive. It's interesting to think about what condition this world would be in without humans 🤔
Great piece! Gonna add one thing. Responsible journalism. Did we need to identify the exact Mexican location? No. I’m betting, some rich/developer pos will see this and say to themselves they just found another location to exploit! Mark my words, this town will now be inundated w people trying to get rich w in 5-10 years, while the community likely suffers…along w the whales because of lack of regulations. Just out to make quick $$. Seen it time and time again. Cabo, Thai islands. I’m sick of it!!
Who? The whales or the watchers? Humpbacks don't have true echolocation. Watchers can't find them with sonar, say, but a whale might appear on sonar if it's near the boat.

Yes! This is awesome. Each one has a name. And is identified
Loves me a tail of a whale! 🐋 Great job Conor and team, and to those that make their life's work to watch over these incredible creatures!
Thank God they have an area to breed in peace without Japanese or Norwegian whalers waiting to wipe them out. Good work on this cataloguing.
We added a couple of humpback whales that we saw in Antarctica to happy whale and they were resighted later near Peru if I remember correctly.

Exactly what I thought when they mentioned the name of the town.
Agree. My first thought, too. Came to see if anyone else is of the same train of thought.
You came here for responsible journalism 🤣🤣🤣
Do they not use eco location?
