    I wish every youtube reviewer would do wrist shots like that...far away, close up and at different angles...well done!!!!

      I _hate_ when guys post wrist rolls filmed from two inches away. I get no useful information from these videos.

    I got one of the exact isl38 models with blue dial and flutted bezel and I think mark did an amazing job! Quickly has became one of my favorite pieces and is very hard to wear other watches since it came in! Awesome video 👊

    This definitely seems like something that could function as an everyday watch also- with great water resistance and loom for a dress watch. LIW always does a great job, but I have to agree with you- this is the best one yet.

    Great review from start to end, I especially like the way you do your on wrist shots (reminds me of on feet sneaker reviews which tend to be quite in-depth)
    Your the first watch reviewer that I can recalled doing a specifically zoomed out wrist shot and gotta say its quite refreshing to see and highly more useful imo, every watch reviewer gives us essentially the exact same close up wrist shots, which isnt really the best perspective of the watches dimensions/overall aesthesis and proportions on wrist... even with the slight motion blurr/focusing issues during your on wrist segment of this video, I still managed to find it extremely useful in gaging the watches overall size and look well being worn on wrist... much more useful then the typical wrist shot that folks do.
    Got a new sub out of me and wish you the best along your watch channel journey... keep up the great reviews and your channels sure to grow!

    Very good video. You were able to capture the watch perfectly. I’ve been thinking of getting the anthracite one, and with this video you’ve convinced me. The watch looks great and unbeatable on that budget. The blue dial looks beautiful, but I all ready have a Red Oct so... I’ll pick the anthracite for a change. Congrats and Keep up the good work!

    • @humblegent4741
      @humblegent4741  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you I appreciate it! It's been enjoyable wearing this almost every day! The anthracite one is really nice. My buddy bought that one and in person the color looks amazing. He was swapping different straps on it and they all looked so good because the dial color matches everything!

    • @TysonHook-22-
      @TysonHook-22- 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@humblegent4741 You should see if your buddy would lend you the anthracite grey watch for review/comparison, would be nice to hear your thoughts/opinions of the two dial colors in hand along with all your wonderful videography showcasing there beauty... my questions for you though is since seeing them both in person and seeing the versatility of the grey dial on straps, if you were to buy this watch model again/could only have one color of this watch model, which one would you choose? would you still go blue? or would you opt for the anthracite grey now?
      I know I for sure want one of these watches but still undecided between which dial color to go with, Im most likely going to wait it out till the poll vote color option is revealed since an emerald green or red dial could easily become my favorite of the bunch... Marc certainly doesnt make picking out an islander watch any easier on us with all the awesome variants between each model, I could easily fill a 5-6 slot watch box with just islanders... I absolutely love what Marcs been doing so far with his watch brand.

    Good review of the #ISL-38. I agree that it is a strap monster. I purchased the same model myself, and currently have it on a Benchmark Basics Horween Dublin strap and it looks great. The blue dial contrasts well with the tan color of the strap. I don't have a Seiko SARB to compare it to, but it does compare well with my Seiko Presage, although the hands remind me of the handset on my Tissot PR100. I have a couple of other Islanders, a #ISL-32 and a #ISL-43, but the #ISL-38 is definitely my favorite. I believe Marc will be coming out with a 4th dial variation soon, and he also recently spoke of some other new releases coming soon in one of his videos.

    Very cool watch, review. I have the 033 and the 035, thinking about picking up the gray dial islander with fluted bezel. I have the emerald islander and really like it, however I think I got used to watches under 42mm. For example I find that the Orient Mako USA is my ideal diver (own 3 dial colors) and that is what I am sticking with for now.

    • @humblegent4741
      @humblegent4741  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you I appreciate it! And the gray/athracite dial Islander is stunning. I honestly feel the same way. I've gotten use to smaller sized watches with smaller lug to lugs. I do like my ISL-18 and I can pull off the size but every time I put it on after I've been wearing my smaller watches it feels huge. When I wear a diver I've been reaching for my Orient Kamasu. A couple months ago I purchased a jubilee bracelet from strap code and it made it extremely comfortable on wrist. Also with lug to lug being around 46mm it made it even more wearable!

    Great review! I’m honestly struggling holding out on this watch! Absolutely love the blue dial and date just feel with the smaller size and case of the sarb. I own the smaller isl-63 blue dial islander 38mm it’s my favorite watch in my small collection! If this comes out in the salmon dial with the fluted bezel I won’t even hesitate to pull the trigger! Just don’t want the same brand same dial in two different watches, but love the review and the watch! Awesome work!

    Beautiful watch. I once had a datejust about 23 years ago. I sold it and vowed that i would own another someday. I just dont see the reasoning to buy a rolex , when island watch puts out a wuality product that looks this good.

      It really is a great watch and I thought the same thing when unboxed it. I compared it to my green alpinist sarb017 and the ghost alpinist was a bit thicker. But when I started to wear the watch daily I didn't notice the thickness at all. I love the newer alpinist especially the SPB119! Made me fall in love with the alpinist line all over again.

    One of the best datejust homages so far! I've been really OC with the proportion of the hands vs hour markers with datejust homages and the only ones i've liked were San Martin and this Islander.

    Great review! Do you like this blue better the Tissot gentlemen powermatic 80? How does it wear compares to the Tissot? Which one do you like more? My budget is below 1000 and I'm considering buying either one. Thanks

    • @humblegent4741
      @humblegent4741  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Both watches have different shades of blue but they're both burst. I can't say I like blue over. I'm holding both right now they both look good. In regards to both watches as a whole the Tissot Gentleman is double the price of the ISL-38 at $700. The ISL 38 is $350. Tissot Gentleman has better finishing on the case and bracelet. It has a very nice movement with 80 hours of power reserve and silicon parts making it resistant to magnetism. Has a nice sapphire case with AR coating. It has everything you want in a watch but it does wear big for a 40mm case. The 48mm lug to lug makes it wear big but with the thin case it's doable with my 7 inch wrist. The ISL38 has so much value for money. You get a a watch with nice build quality and a reliable high beat movement. It's a nice homage to the date just and it has really good specs for $350. It has nice jubilee bracelet with solid end links. It has a screw down case back giving 100m of water resistance. It has really nice lume which the Tissot doesn't have. And a nice flat sapphire crystal with solid AF coating. This is definitely a smaller watch but I love how this wears. 38mm case and a bit smaller than 11mm thin. Very short lug to lug of 44mm. Can't go wrong with either. Just do research and purchase the one that you think will fit your wrist best and pick which design you like better!

    I don’t know why Marc and watch _idiot_ savants call this watch and the DateJust dress watches. They’re straight up sports watches. That’s why they have lume and a screw down crown and a _bracelet!_ If the Oyster case was not made for sports watches then Rolex wouldn’t have sent one up the side of Mount Everest.

    To me, the Islander case and the SARB033 case look EXACTLY the same. The only difference being the caseback of the Islander being thinner due to the thinner Miyota movement. Can you take a CLOSE look and confirm whether this is the case? I have a hunch that Mark got in contact with the manufacturer of the SARB033 cases and is using them. I can't find an aftermarket version of the SARB033 case ANYWHERE.
