The game servers had only about 5 months of lifetime remaining when this review came out. GT5 was also out already for more than half a year which means there was probably no one left playing this online. Therefore the timing of this review seems rather odd.

The “Prologue” Gran Turismo games were kind of “playable previews” of forthcoming GT titles. Released in 2008, GT5 Prologue served as the first Gran Turismo game on the PS3. 2 years later in 2010, the final Gran Turismo 5 game was released. It was a bit different on the PS2; there was already a Gran Turismo 3 on that platform which was released in 2001, but GT4 didn’t come out until 2005, so sometime in between they released GT4 Prologue to tide fans over in the middle of GT4’s development, since 4-5 years would have been a long time to wait for the next major installment in the series.

Around the time of the welcome back program when Gran Turismo 5 Prologue was still full price, I almost bought the game thinking it was another Gran Turismo game completely ( I already had Gran Turismo 5). Good thing I didn't get it because that would be a complete waste...
