I would love those changes but they are what they are.
I would love to see the televote weighted more heavily. But, given who came in 2nd place in the televote with a sudden 323 points (just less than Croatia's 337), it's a stark reminder of why we brought the juries back.

It would’ve been a consistent fever dream for the entirety of the show if Netherlands continued competing in the grand final and if Croatia wins at the end of the final.

TBH its actually a bit more than 50/50 currently because of the introduction of letting Rest Of The World vote so televoters give 58 more points than the jury and i see the current system to be fair because 1. Ukraine 2022 and 2. If it’s a tie the one who got the most points from the televoters wins

75/25 is what we use in Finland (UMK) and thats how Win95 won. (and after that quite a lot discussion bout the system)

Naaah. I cant see a NQ being jury bait. Specially with Poland, Belgium, Iceland and San Marino around there. Televoting also supported Latvia and Portugal. There are problems with juries, but this is not one of them and I like we avoid more "Sorry, 0 points from the public" this way.
Surprisingly, this year televoting in semi finals was really loyal to jury oriented songs (like Latvia, Serbia and Portugal)
@@RaffGoodman I don't necessarily agree because semi one was weak so obviously Serbia had to make it ( that is why they finished 10th), but in semi 2 there were a lot of jury oriented songs that got left behind( Czechia and Denmark would have qualified if the juries were able to vote).
@@yuijo2772 there was no way for Czechia to receive many jury votes with such weak vocals. Denmark also didn't perform well, but yeah, jury could have helped her. So I actually don't think jury would have changed results much.
@@RaffGoodman I think they would have changed. I actually really like Serbia's entry this year, compared to last year's one this definitely deserved to qualify. But juries tend to be harsh on Serbia, and preforming on second spot wouldn't have helped her. Not to forget that juries usually go for Australia, whenever they can ahhaah

1/4 is the jury voting the total is 37x58, 2,146 so the 3/4 of tele is 37x58x3+58= 6,496.
Then u calculate the tele percentage it’s
365 to 2,200 (or smth I don’t remember 38x58) and the percentage is like 10.5%. 10.5% of 6496 is 666 so 1031 overall. In the video it’s less cause I didn’t use 38x58 but 37x58 cause I forgot rest of the world as tele but it wouldn’t change anything just the scores

Thank you so much for opening a discussion about what should be done! I feel like many esc account are beeing quiet because they want to secure their ability to get in the eurovision press room also next year. And so they are afraid to speak up! We as a community need to demand change. Otherwise this will happen again.
I like his song and I hate to keep say this, but the change is that Baby Lasagna should have been disqualified for plagiarizing two artists in one song, perhaps the jury decided to not vote for him knowing the allegiances of plagiarism.
But even without plagiarizing anyone, the song and performance of Nemo was among every other song and artist. Thankfully most of the jury made justice because Rim Tim Tagi Dim should have never get through the semifinals, but it was the public's choice and they broke the rules for maintain your interest on the ESC.
The only thing that needs to be changed is Corruption in televote, EBU should investigate it. If it wasn't for that then Baby Lasagna would have definitely won.

I hope there will some changes. Televoting is a huge amount of money in the game. If the audience realizes that their vote, year after year, doesn't matter, they will become discouraged and they will stop participating in it. And the Eurovision must be profitable, on various aspects. We need to limit the possibility of a situation in which the public's voice cannot change anything.
Exactly... I voted 20 times this year and spend money on that.... it ended up not making any difference. That really feels like watching your money go up in smoke. Definitely don't intent to vote again unless they change the system and televotes get more weight
Honestly, I really think the Jury shouldn't have so much power over the contest. They should only be allowed to give out 8 or 10 as a minimum and not 12.

The juries this year were among the most lopsided in history, that's all. If we go by the years of the current system, normalize by amount of countries we will get the following for the highest jury score and distance to the second place among the juries:
2016- 281, 95 difference.
2017- 335, 91.
2018- 232, 15.
2019- 222, 6.
2021- 253, 18.
2022- 261, 14.
2023- 340, 163!.
2024- 365!, 147.
Note that 2017 was both a jury and televote winner by huge margin.
In the recent two years the juries selected the winner almost entirely.

Why are people complaining? The juries have always been present and the winner has been the jury winner just twice in the past few years, with kalush and maneskin being the televote winners. Juries make the contest less predictable and give chance to different songs to shine more. Without the juries, Portugal would never have the chance to get top 10.

I would not be angry about this but it did make me realize something. Nemo was my favorite act this year and Baby Lasagna was my second. I had thrown more votes towards Baby Lasagna because I wanted them to win, and it was so jarring when my actual favorite won (they almost never do, and yes I still voted for Nemo). Now seeing who I tried to let win at the top makes me sad that my favorite lost XD maybe I would have been sad either way but idk because this is after the contest and I have gotten much happier that FINALLY my favorite song took home the trophy

Why don't they award points for placing rather than combined/ jury televote number. 12 points for 1st, 10 points for 2nd, 8 points for 3rd, 7 points for 4th, 6 points for 5th, 5 points for 4th and so on. You have a point. Better to award points to all the contestants from 1 to the amount of contestantants competing. if there are 34 acts. Then jury and televote can vote from 1 to 34 to decide all the placings. If their are any ties than the contestants should vote out any ties.

doesn't change much. People love to complain. Some years, the jury winner is the best song and other years, it's the televote. Jury favourites were very good this year (admittedly not last year though) and Croatia did very well with jury. Televoting was hijacked by politics this year.
On a personal level, there's about ten songs I would have been happy winning this year, but ultimately Switzerland resonated with me the best. To combine pop, opera and rap within seconds, while balancing on a spinning beyblade with no help, knowing full well that falling would derail the whole performance, was glorious. The lyrics were affecting and inspiring.

The 50/50 split is more than fair, you still got the televote only semis and that’s itself disastrous for actual “quality songs”.

POINTS, not votes. Votes are converted into points. Each country gives 12,10,8-1 points to the top 10 most voted countries. 1st place gets 12, 2nd place gets 10, 3rd place gets 8 etc.
That's not how math works.

@@ESCGiorgio While the proportions are correct (75/25), the result isn't normalized the same way they are with the 50/50 system, and that's why we get these huge amount of points. Instead of multiplying the public votes by 3, you should've multiplied it by 1.5 and the jury points by 0.5 so that we could also compare the results with the past editions.
That way, Croatia wins with 667.5 points. I know, the .5 looks ugly, but at least we can now compare the result with previous results, like Salvador Sobral's 758 points.

Per esempio Angelina ha ottenuto 104 punti dal televoto e 164 dalla giuria. Nel sistema proposto ha sempre 164 dalla giuria, ma i punti del televoto diventano 303.
Non capisco il conto, ha moltiplicato i punti del televoto per 2,91. Mentre sarebbe stato corretto moltiplicarli per 3, per mantenere la proporzione 3:1=75:25.
Anche se, a mio avviso, sarebbe stato ancora meglio dimezzare i voti della giuria, onde evitare punteggi finali monstre
