If I remember correctly, they got the news of Chris's death that morning before this was filmed. The raw emotion in Chester's voice is heartbreaking. Then for Chester to die on Chris's birthday takes that song to a whole level of pain.
I never saw it coming with Chris, although thinking back some of his lyrics should have blinked a red light. Audioslave - Like A Stone f ex,that now reeks of depression and pain to me. But he camouflaged it as being about an elderly man. So when can we truly know.... And what destroys me mentally,is knowing how much Chris meant to Chester. Chris was Chesters absolute rock, footage of Chris joining Chester on stage or wherever,Chesters face glows up in pure happiness,he looks free from everything thats bothering him at that moment. Chesters scream is something else,i can feel and hear the pain, the sorrow and grief in that scream. And afterwards of course he can no longer compose himself, the emotions just takes over. I still till this day believe that the news of Chris, was the critical turning point for Chester. Im sure thoose 2 shared something in common also regarding mental health, and they probably had many a talk about it. Im sure they understood eachother and were a good listener for eachother, when one of them needed to talk. Chester seemed like he was on a slow way up,that he had somewhat stabilized himself. He kept himself busy,so that he wouldnt have much time to sit down and reflect over his own mental health. But with Chris gone it just became too much, especially when Chester discovered how his friend passed away. But yeah,to me Chris never seemed like the type of guy that struggled that hard,he covered that up brilliantly. In many ways just like one of our greatest comedians of all time,Robin Williams. Just never saw it coming..... Chester was a different story,he tried to be open about his struggles. Bless and long live theyr memories! 💞🙏
Please give Chester's first band Grey Daze a listen. They released another gorgeous album, "The Phoenix"this Summer. Chester's Signature voice from the very beginning is so Beautiful to revisit! I think that'd you would enjoy! Great review. Two beautiful Souls gone way too soon. What a Blessing it is to have So Much Wonderful Music left for All to continue to enjoy, and continue to discover...
This is a beautiful tribute to Chris and Chester was barely holding it together and that pained scream nearly broke me.

Everytime I watch this, I try to sing along; I can never get further than halfway before I'm too choked up to continue.
