Connecting an Old DV Camera To an Old Computer by Firewire

Connecting my old Panasonic DV camera to an old laptop via a firewire cable and some if the steps I took to do this. If you have an old computer with firewire on it is relatively easy and cheap to do this
As ever there is a bit of swearing and a few bits where I got my words mixed up
