I love how they both not only chose movies but also made the story that their tarantulas were direct relatives to the famous giant spiders in those franchises
@@milaroberts9463 that’s true for sure but I’m just referring to the fact that they used the movies as a basis for what it looks like as opposed to going to the books.
Emily made a Forbidden Forest Enclosure. Ed made a Bag End enclosure. Who won? Us. We, the viewers, won this contest. Both enclosures are amazing! I LOVED watching you two go toe-to-toe!
Very late but holy cow I'm so torn between the two awesomely designed enclosures. I can't choose cause they both look SO GOOD. Also a fan of both fandoms.
We need updates on how they web up their enclosures!! That would definitely make them look more amazing. You both did such an awesome job but I have to give this to Emily.
In the last build off Ed’s was amazing too. I wonder if Ed doesn’t actually build and design enclosures as often as Emily and all of those thoughts and ideas come out as a huge burst of flashy concepts in one whereas Emily is thinking both in a more naturalistic way but also as a “formula” - x species, y habitat, z requirements, omega usual concept with add-ons.
I am running through videos after becoming a fan last year and just finished this one. Although both of these enclosures are amazing (my only tattoo so far is star wars/lotr/Harry potter) I have to give a ton of kudos to Ed on his backstory. That was amazing!
I love both enclosures, amazed at Ed's story just fantastic and the creativity of both is up to par with the best of the best, they transported me to those magical worlds so its a tie 🤩
I don't know if we can really say, "Who has the best enclosure?", until the spiders do their art. You two have given them the canvas, but in reality they are the artists that will transform these little tableaus into the gems they will become. Your work is excellent! Show us the finished pieces in about a month. 😁
Ed won! Just loved his Shire theme. I just wish we could see the enclosure after a few weeks when they are full of webs so we could see the full effect
Agreed!! Oh, actually, they should do some kind of tally now and see if the answers change once they’re both covered in webbing and the tarantulas have grown a little bit / settled in some
I think they both did an amazing job with their builds but i like Ed's more because it looks more detailed and i like the hobbit house and how he made it look real with one of the bench's half in the ground sticking out. I love how Emily did harry potter because i used to love harry potter but i grew out of it. Keep up the amazing work both of you because you guys are awesome and you guys got me into loving snakes and reptiles, when you got me into snakes and reptiles i borrowed 6 snakes and reptile books from my school library because you guys are the best. Snake Discovery Is The Best!!!
I think I'ma have to go with Ed's enclosure. I always love the look of overgrown forests and soft, springy moss. That kind of aesthetic is always really appealing to me though I do love Emily's spooky forest vibe, that one is really cool too
Those are incredible! I like how well Emily’s tarantula fits in with the theme, like the color coordination between the spider itself and the habitat is incredible! But the design and details of Ed’s enclosure are so freaking cool! Also all the detail in the story telling for Ed’s are awesome! Ed wins for me!
My vote goes to Emily! The printed background really gives it visual depth, like a scene you could step into. Besides that, though, I think it will be a more pleasing environment for the slider it will house. I also have a C. Versicolor, and I think mine would be very happy with all those branches and vertical space. I'm not familiar with GBTs, but I do have a stripe-knee tarantula. I think that at the very least, the GBT would want some sort of hide. I didn't see that the hobbit house had a doorway for the spider.
I thought Ed was going for how Bag End looked during the chapter "The Scouring of the Shire". In a sense he captured it perfectly, with enough branches to seem like the remains of the party tree (under which Bilbo's birthday was held) were left lying as it was in the book. The home itself was left disheveled and in ruins by the time Frodo and Company returned. It was restored in the end though. That aside, Ed wins.
Yup, that's what I was gonna say! That's a book-fan vs movie-fan knowledge gap there, about the Scouring and how war isn't really ever over. The fighter may be done with the war, but the war is never done with the fighter... :(
Could you guys do an update video where we can see what it looks like when they have settled in and have spun their webs everywhere? That would be so cool
Honestly I'm surprised by how awesome both builds are. They are so different and yet so on theme! I'm torned, but I give this one to Ed. His attention to details was impressive.
Please don’t take this the wrong way but I just wanted to let you know it’s ‘torn’ instead of “torned”. I just wanted to tell you bc some people can be rude about spelling.
I love how Emily went above and beyond for her enclosure. She used so many different ressources and I enjoy the "bland" forest, because it makes the spider pop so much more
Both your enclosures look soooooo cool. I totally might steal some ideas. ;) Ed, if you'd like to know Shelob is referred to in the books as the "last child of Ungoliant" (the gigantic demon spider that killed the Two Trees of Valinor in the First Age), but it is widely accepted that she must have bred into local big spider populations to make particularly nasty breeds like the one encountered by Thorin and Co. in Mirkwood. So sibling: unlikely, descendant: totally possible. It even makes sense that that kind of spider would find the Shire to their liking after Sauron takes over due to the proximity to the Old Forest. If you feel like upgrading your enclosure in the future, you might add a Huorn on the left (aka a feral malicious Ent). Good job, both of you! :D
I thought of Mirkwood too, when I realized Ed picked LOTR. If he added something charred, it would also add to the "burn, bite, slash" preferences of Sauron's army. But I am not sure if that is safe for tarantulas.
I gotta go with Ed's. I'm a total Lord of the Rings nerd, and the details are impeccable. Love it! Just shows what a nerd I am, been watching your videos for less than a week, but first one I comment on involves lotr. 😂
They're both so good!! I love how Emily incorporated the branches and dead vines into the enclosure, and I'm sure over time, her's is going to shine the most when there's webbing. Buuut Ed's has such nice attention to detail and really captures the scene with the moss tying everything together. I'm gonna have to go with Ed! But both are amazing!!
They both look incredible, but I absolutly love LOTR and The Hobbit so Ed has my vote. Shelob did actually have decendents, they are the spiders in Mirkwood (as seen in the hobbit).
Both are well-built, but I have to go with the Dilapidated Shire, since Tolkein never had much to say about whether I should have civil rights. But very earnestly, both builds are skillful!
I love the little fanfictions they wrote about their spiders! They sound so Wattpad, with the OCs being related to the bad guys and eventually taking over the world! I would totally read those, lol.
Both enclosures look great and Emily's use of the forest background to tie in the theme is so clever. Ed's attention to details in his enclosure just takes it over the top though. Both will look awesome webbed up too. I will say that you may want to let your tarantulas grow out a bit before rehoming them into those fantastic enclosures. Slings can be more fragile than adults and can get stressed or have trouble finding their food in enclosures that are too large. As tempting as it is, and I get it, but they should have just enough ground space for three times their body length diagonally from toe to toe. 1" slings like you have shouldn't have more than 3 to 4 inches of ground space to be comfortable.
Ed and The Shire absolutely took this. Blown away by the story behind it and the wonderful painting. I was very surprised by the Harry Potter enclosure amid the controversy. Especially the resurgence of it lately. It left a sour taste in my mouth as I would have loved such an enclosure in my youth.
Well it's not like they're supporting Rowling or her views. Tons of people have great childhood memories of Harry Potter that aren't rooted in transphobia.
I'm currently reading Harry Potter. 3 books down, 4 to go. I don't know anything about J.K. Rowling being transphobic, I know she said "only females (or women?) can menstruate" I don't have Twitter and I don't enjoy drama so as a book lover I'm keeping out of it. I'll enjoy the books and mind by own business :)
@@Bear_the_shepherd considering that trans men, nonbinary folks and certain intersex people can menstruate, yeah its transphobic. your choice whether to enjoy her work of course
So cool! I used to have arachnophobia, but thanks to slow exposure from your videos, I now am only mildly put off by spiders, and that's when they're actually close to me! Love you guys!
These were both so doggone creative. They both freak me out too. I think right now Ed’s wins but once Emily’s tarantula fills the top with webs hers will look creepier. So cool.
oh my! the story! as soon as I saw the hobbit door, I was disappointed, because it should have been Mordor, not the Shire! But then he took it in such an interesting direction... I love "what could have been"'s
I think Ed did a really good job with recreating the elements of the Hobbit house and I like all of the moss and the cobblestone walkway. But I preferred the focus of the more nature aspects of a forest in Emily's build, since all forests eventually go through a cycle where all the old trees start to fall down and decay. It's was nice to see a change from focusing so much on the greenness of life and growth, and replacing it with another aspect of the natural cycle of life.
I like the color of Ed's enclosure over Emily's. Please post short updates on how they are doing after settling in. I want to see webs in Emily's enclosure
These are both super cool concepts for an enclosure! I was leaning the forbidden forest for most of the build, and the way the blues of the tarantula play with the blues of the laminated background is really neat. However, I just wasn't quite sold on the centaurs, they took away from the overall look for me. The Shire enclosure is colorful in just the right way, everything works really well together, and I think for me personally it's the winner!
Yeah, agreed on the centaur. I feel like Ed's theme ties with the 3d printed decor much more, so it works. While the centaur just kind of seem out of place a bit.
Also, the centaurs actively tried to avoid the parts of the forest that were Aragog's territory since Aragog and his children were basically unstoppable and unless you're Hagrid, going in those parts of the forest is basically death.
I love the creativity of both! It's so cute and wholesome you both picked excellent films, may both the tarantulas have very long and healthy lives! I was sold on Ed's, but then seeing Emily's spider crawl onto the vines, they just fit so well in there! I worry Ed's will burrow and then decide "Yes, the pathway and everything shall be ruined and no one shall see the beautiful work Ed did..." vs "Look! Webs on the ceiling!" with Emily's! Either way, I love them both so much! Y'all are precious!
This video just makes me want to see Emily and/or Ed compete in the build off! Maybe they'd have it so they can't win, but we get to see how creative they can be
I love the idea of the forbidden forest vibe and i cant wait to see how her little dude decorates the place! so I think Emilys build is my favorite! ALSO can we get an update to see how the little babies are doing along the way?

Ed and the Spider-Shire. Can't wait to see little dude creeping around. Loved both story lines, love the fun they both had. And I'm also a fan of both LoTR and HP.
i love them both, but the centors in Emly´s and the pine needls i have to give the win to emily but you to being the cutest couple ever makes us the winners
I was already a little more predisposed towards Ed's, but some of the recent controversies around HP make it almost no competition. Nostalgia is fun and all, but I've really soured on the series.
I love both, super cool! My only thoughts are the substrates are not enough to burrow for green toed, and if the pink toe falls, it’s a tall fall. And LOTR Shire should have a hide 🙈
at first when emily said she wasn't using the green moss stuff i was a bit disappointed because i thought her enclosure needed a pop of colour, but it turned out amazing! she achieved the dreary, gloomy forest vibe and the blue tones even matched with her tarantula! personally, i liked ed's a little bit more because i tend to lean towards warmer colours, but i love the harry potter franchise so much and the forbidden forest looked great with those vines. so overall its a tie for me, because they are both good in different ways
Both enclosures are so, SO good but I'll have to give this one to Ed! THE CREATIVITY! THE LORE!! YESSS!!! Edit: That said, Emily used the available space much better! Ed's looks quite empty, probably less so once filled up with webs, but a tree wouldn't hurt :D
Both great ideas, and funny that you both chose a movie theme :D But even if I get Emily's idea, I like green things more than dead things, so my vote goes to Ed!
While I do love the Middle Earth series A LOT more, I do have to give it to Emily simply because there's a greater amount of usable space and middle ground for her sling to make webs and get all cozy.
Ed hands down took this. Expert story telling, awesome creativity, very nice use of color and subtle changes to the scene to paint a cool picture.
I love how they both not only chose movies but also made the story that their tarantulas were direct relatives to the famous giant spiders in those franchises

I wish you two all the success and hopefully your zoo and store can expand more!
I love harry potter and like Emily's theme, but I think Ed's is more decorative
As a diehard lotr fan I absolutely love Ed’s! Especially the story he came up for it! So cool!
TARANTULAS WHATS NEXT AN ALLIGATOR!?. . .*remembers Rex* wait
What's next, a salt water croc?!
Thats what I was gonna say when I read yours im like (WHAT ABOUT REX)
DANG 27 MINUTES AGO AND MY COMMENT ALREADY HAS 34 LIKES?!
Both they're both cute and amazing for your tarantulas
Emily’s snow struggle made the video 10/10 😂
Ed and the Spider-Shire. Can't wait to see little dude creeping around. Loved both story lines, love the fun they both had. And I'm also a fan of both LoTR and HP.
I still can't pick... it's like choosing your favorite child! Nice builds, guys!!
Ed is so caring for Emily gotta love them 💕
I know nothing about Ed's design, but it's just so elaborate that I have to give it to him! I love to see Ed and Emily!
i love them both, but the centors in Emly´s and the pine needls i have to give the win to emily but you to being the cutest couple ever makes us the winners
it’s Ed’s for me!! love all the little details and his excitement about it, so cool 🕸️
As a huge Tolkien fan, I have to say the shire is my favorite.
Both are fantastic builds! Personally I like Ed's more though :)
5:09 i see that ed has some experience with painting minis. looks absolutely amazing!!
Great jobs! I can't pick. Only because I can't disappoint either of you. I love you both.
Loved Emily’s forbidden forest. Fake spiders were a fun touch!
Both great ideas, and funny that you both chose a movie theme :D But even if I get Emily's idea, I like green things more than dead things, so my vote goes to Ed!
I was laughing my head off at the end of this video since they were still ‘arguing’ about who was going to win.😊😊😊
While I do love the Middle Earth series A LOT more, I do have to give it to Emily simply because there's a greater amount of usable space and middle ground for her sling to make webs and get all cozy.
