    Store Purchased At: Goodwill
    Price Paid: $4.99
Seller Described Vacuum As: tested, as-is
This is a demonstration video of this Eureka The Boss Superlite 402 that I recently bought at Goodwill. There has been no repairs done at all to the vacuum cleaner before the video was filmed. What you see in the video was exactly how the vacuum performed when it was purchased and brought into my home. There may have been a small repair performed off-camera if needed to get the vacuum to power on if it was DOA and nonfunctional at the time of receipt. "First Test" videos are usually filmed the same day as the purchase of the vacuum if time allows, but if a vacuum needs a new belt, power cord, or other critical component just to even function for the test, there may be a delay in performing a test video.
These videos are filmed just to show what state the vacuum cleaner was in when it was found, and to look for any problems wrong with the vacuum during typical use. They also serve as a looking-back point for the future to make "before and after" comparisons when the vacuum is fully repaired and cleaned up to show how far it has come. These tests are not run for very long and are purposely rushed in situations where the motor is presumed to be critically damaged, to prevent further damage to the motor or the destruction of the vacuum cleaner.
Based on my initial test of this vacuum cleaner as of 5/4/2018, it needs the following parts repaired or replaced:
[ ] motor inspection and oiling
[ ] exterior cleanup and polish
[ ] investigate source of extreme vibration and loudness
[ ] wash or replace main filter
    [ ] clean brushroll
[ ] investigate slow and sluggish brushroll rotation
Video filmed on: 5/4/2018 5:43 PM

1:20 this is the reason why this vacuum is not for people with any sort of allergies or breathing issues.

Looks like someone ran it without a filter, or it’s currently missing. You might buy some time if you take it apart down to the motor and blow the dust out of the impeller with an air compressor. Can’t run it without the filter though.

I used to have one of these, found it on my grandpa’s back patio, and yes, it sound bad but not like that, the reason why it sounded so bad was because it had been exposed to rain from being in the outdoors, and there were also glue stains above the switch, so it looked like the handle had snapped off and they glued it back together and I guess left it outside to dry and forgot about it and yes the handle did snap on me, that’s why I no longer have it, it just wasn’t worth fixing

The loud noise is from the threads all stuck and wrapped around the rotating brush. Clean it out first!

I film them exactly as they are received for the first test, so whatever issues they have is what is shown in the video.

The pitch of the Eureka Boss super light is out of wack. There is something wrong with it. The motor sounds like it has bad bearings. The vacuum wasn't very well maintained by the way it sounds. I have the exact same Eureka and have had it for 7 years, the pitch has never changed. The vacuum is dying. You have to take the motor assembly apart and clean it or replace the unit itself. Also this vacuum has "true hepa sealed filtration" the dust blew out of the vacuum because the fans weren't cleaned and the hepa filter wasn't cleaned or replaced. You have to clean out the hepa filter on a regular basis, if you want clean air. Unfortunately I think this particular boss light is way beyond repair. The motor is shot, it will probably die within a matter of months. Even my Eureka boss light is having some minor issues and I maintain that vacuum regularly. Mine is having problems because it's 14 years old, it was manufactured in 2004 which is model 402 I think. Your Eureka boss light has a different problem, it wasn't maintained well. I am surprised my Eureka made it this long. I recommend you either repairing the vacuum or look elsewhere for another eureka boss light.

I have one of these but I don't have a filter for it. It looks cool, but it's so loud I can't stand to use it.

Yes, it has an anemic little motor in it, spinning at maximum RPM, in a vacuum housing made of thin cheapened plastic. It transfers all the motor vibration to the frame which is why it sounds so loud.

@@FrenchFryCheese04 Yeah they were awful even brand new out of the box. And that is not said out of hate, I love all vacuums, but this one....this one has no honor. This is a a case of a vacuum that was spat out to fill a specific price point in the market and nothing more.

@@huskyvacs Not only that, but I for one found about 30 to 40 vacuums in or by the dumpsters in our large apartment complex over the last seven years. I managed to salvage most of them as most only require cleaning and a little bit of repair. The ones I don’t keep or give away to friends and family I give to the Goodwill. Right now I have nine vacuums, including a Dirt Devil “D2 Reaction Fresh” model 11006, with a 3-D printed replacement Air Director inside it’s DUAL dustbin chamber. I will be making a video of that one soon with the 3-D part in it. I already have a 2 part video of it competing with another vacuum, but with only one air Director. It did poorly without that second air Director.
