You guys are awesome. This is less of a trial, and more of a Q&A, as Corbin is awkward and doesn’t have the rules down 100%. That says, I am learning an awful lot!

    Charge 15
This point goes to Corbin, though I appreciate Drew's input it is very hard to juggle throwing in NPCs all the time that are non-Mage and this also doesn't always fit every ST's goals/style.
    Charge 16
This point goes to Drew, as it is clear Paradox is a paper tiger essentially. I have always known this and it is pretty clear mechanically that it is nothing but that.
    Charge 18
This point goes to Drew, it is up to the ST to decide what is thinking with some guidelines provided.
    Charge 19
This point goes to Drew, it is the responsibility of the player's to learn how to cast spells.
    Charge 20
This point goes to Drew, it simply requires some ST ruling and using some of the rules laid out in the magic chapter.
    Charge 21
This point goes to Drew, it is a matter of working with the ST to create spells.
    Charge 22
This point goes to Drew, creative thoughts on how to reduce mana. However, just in general, anytime there is a lengthy downtime it is hard to justify that your character is not refreshed. In D&D this would be equivalent to taking a long rest, so they should be full unless you work something into the narrative to explain why it shouldn't be the case.
    Charge 23
This point goes to Corbin, the only time there is an exception is if you are playing a "zoo" Chronicle. To make a proper challenge for a group of mages requires more enemy mages or enemies with lots of friends with unique abilities that cannot all be shut down by one of the mages. Often the players get the drop on the NPCs, but I think if you get the drop on the group it can change the group dynamic quite a bit.
One thing to help you out Corbin, for Werewolves have a Supernal Magic Spirit. This can teach them gifts that can dispel/counter supernal magic.
Same for Geists, ceremonies that can counter/dispel magic, they have Keys that can help out.
I suppose my play style doesn't incorporate a lot of the non-supernatural human NPCs. However, I must say the verdict is: Mage is Perfect for what it is designed to do.
Sure, it has some power scaling issues, but that is the point of Mage.
    Anyway, my 2 cents.

Curiously, while Active Mind sight will not perceive entities in Twilight, Dave Brookshaw has confirmed than an Unveiling of Mind can detect them. But then you are committing a spell control slot, so fair enough. Overall this has been an excellent two part series, it does a great job clarifying the rules and you two create a great discussion. Thank you for doing this.

Actually, Mind AtAttainments 2 allow you to percieve Goetia in Twilight and Beings in Astral Plane. Same for Spirit (to see Spirits) and Death (to see Ghosts and Souls) in Twilight.

Unveiling may detect the thought itself but wouldn't reveal anything about the entity or it's relative location.

At around ~15:00 you talk about the Mage wanting to know if the scene change.
I'd think *everyone* needs to know if the scene changed, because it means your can trigger your Vice again, and might get beats from Aspiractions / opting for Dramatic fail / Resolving condtions again.
So I feel the ST needs to be regularly announcing when the scene changes.

Another great nerd debate. Love it. Ghouls and Wolf-blooded are definitely Sleepwalkers (MtAw 303). Mage: The Awakening is a great game, but it does take some practice on the part of the player to get used to a system that gives you such flexibility and enables such creativity. Players need to learn spellcasting, and it can take some time. Give them opportunities to cast, make sure they realize that Paradox isn't a deal breaker for casting. Nice vid Corbin and Drew.

CofD definitely doesn't flow great sometimes for some crossover. Whether that be the hypervesatility of a Mage, the very focused/narrow stories of promethean/demon/deviant/mummy, or "can only act during the night" of vampire.

In regards to Downtime and Mana, Requiem has a pretty easy way of handling it for Vitae: Roll 1 d10 + Herd, and that is your starting Vitae. As a homebrew, I allow full Willpower restoration after time skips, and they can spend that Willpower for Vitae as a 1/1 sacrifice. Mage is similarly compatible, it's easy, and it helps paint a picture of what that downtime has been like for the Kindred/Awakened in question.

The Blast numina relies is an attack (the book specifically calls out attacks), with the spirit using it's corpus, which is immaterial while simply in Twilight.
They can totally blast the mortal - it'll just go past their fleshy bit, like the spirit's own claws would.
    Blast doesn't works with Reaching.

    • @AwkwardGMCorbin
      @AwkwardGMCorbin ปีที่แล้ว

The issue I have with Numina not working in Twilight is Telekinesis is a Numina and a classic Horror movie trope is Ghosts/Spirits moving objects around. And if you couldn’t use Numina in Twilight you could use that effect.

    • @Ephsy

@@AwkwardGMCorbin I didn't say "Numina" I said specifically blast. Ephemerals can't attack while insubstantial. Blast is an attack.

@@Ephsy I've re-read the section on Combat for Ephemerals on page 129 of CofD.
"Entities in Twilight can only attack or be attacked by other ephemeral beings of the same type, unless the attack utilizes the entity’s bane." But this in regards to: "Ephemeral beings roll Power + Finesse to attack. Their attacks inflict bashing damage unless the nature of the entity ... indicates that it should inflict lethal wounds instead."
I'm not sure based on this reading that it would apply to Numina based attacks.

Verdict: Mage is OP in comparison to some straps. It's only problematic to the extent of the creativity and knowledge of the ST to create problems to someone that's almost omnipotent! Great videos by the way.

Personal house rule: Each time the player inquires "have we finished this scene?" unpromted, I go "The scene has extended for the next hour In Character. I'll let you guys know when the scene has concluded."
