Leigh! I’ve been a fan since the early days of Antiques Roadshow-you’re always so informative and your excitement really shines through! I was wondering, on the top drawer it appeared to have a lining. Was that added later, or was that an original feature of the piece that was removed from the other drawers, or if it was original was it only meant to be the top drawer?
Doctor Lori would give him a lecture about that. I was wondering the same thing when I watched this video. I have never seen anyone on PBS Antiques Roadshow wearing gloves. They should be wearing surgical gloves, especially when handling books, documents, etc.
I am curious what your thoughts are on restoration work when a loss occurs. As in replacing the missing foot section on the front right foot. How much does that effect the auction value?
Good question! Considering how important the piece is and how rarely they come up, repairs to the feet are acceptable. However, As I mentioned in the video, it is very important that the front right foot facing be original. If the front left foot facing is original, we know what the scrolled foot volute looks like. If BOTH volutes were missing, i would have advised my client not to purchase the chest- even for a much lower price…. . Ok? If you have other questions, feel free to ask.
Cary- I don’t blame you for being 🤔 confused! We re-edited/shortened the video a little. There is also a slightly different ending. More on the way very soon. Thanks for asking. 👍😊
@@leighkeno762 Ah, okay, understood. Looking forward to your future content. About a week ago, I was reminiscing fondly with a friend about Find! and your magazine, then searched TH-cam for content related to you and Leslie and was pleasantly surprised to see that you’d very recently stared a TH-cam channel. Quite the coincidence! 🥂
Hi Leigh I am a new subscriber and have been a fan for many years!!!! Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!!!!! Question: was the brass that was missing lost? Or was there a reason it was off? If so did it effect the price? Thanks
@@chefmichaelgriffin4005 Good question! The brass was off temporarily because one post had broken off and needs to be repaired. Sotheby’s didn’t want it to get lost so It was being kept in an office till after the sale. I will get it fixed properly before the piece leaves my place. Thanks for commenting!
It's delightful to see Leigh so happy!
Love the sound the brass handles make when you close. I’ve been listening to it for nearly 50 years.
Love the color of the piece…I’m happy that great furniture is still appreciated.
he's buying the dip in the seven figure chest market.
Gorgeous. Love the carvings. Great condition, as well.
I just love ❤️ your passion Leigh
Such fun to watch and learn about repairs and values. Hope you do more soon!
Absolutely love this video. Rekindled my love for American furniture and buying at auction

Why is this the final upload?
😂good opening
it just seems pricey for a unique fixer upper opportunity
Is there anything he doesn't know?
I Leigh still alive? This video states he died happy in 2022 (1957-2022).
…wow. The feet really don’t matter that much? Woah…
He's 20 feet from anyone and wearing a mask???????????
