This was definitely a huge surprise the day this aired. Expected to see Moltar and boom here we have new graphics and a new host talking to use telling us he’d be joining us from now on. I think I adjusted accordingly and man do I miss these old days. Sigh...
I was confused when seeing Tom for 1st time. Where's Moltar? No! We get this robot dude that looks like it came out of Bomberman with some radioactive beer belly. 😂
OMG good times with toonami on the afternoon everyweekdays. I remember watched sailor moon, dbz, ronin warriors and thundercats in this block of action. And also watched toonami every saturday and dont loosed.
I kind missed back then when Cartoon Network had like a REALLY HUGE variety of cartoons and anime they aired early day in schedule with their own cartoons, Toonami, Miguzi and some WB originals as well. Totally Spies Xiaolin Showdown Teen Titans Zatch Bell Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z Yu Yu Hakusho Bleach Naruto Pokemon Jackie Chan Adventures Justice League (2001)/Unlimited The Big O Ozzy & Drix Code Lyoko Static Shock Duel Masters Sailor Moon And etc. I missed that kind of variety. Nowadays, you don't see that anymore. You see the same show have reruns constantly and nothing else to watch. I hope in the next decade, the 2020s, might relive all that variety. Same goes for Nickelodeon, Nicktoons Network, Disney XD, and Disney Channel.
Shit, I was 4 years old in central Kentucky watching this and Sci-FI saturday anime ❤ up in my room on a Magnavox dinosaur TV. Just turned 25 this year getting ready to move to Ohio for college and work and, I still to this DAY watch Toonami every saturday.
Wow. Seeing that cable tv interface in the beginning with 7/13/99 gave me feels.
Brings back memories I was 18 in 1999 I'm speechless there so many memories I miss the good old days of Toonami Cartoon Network
I remember watching Toonami with my cousin every Saturday night. It was fun. I really do miss the days when Toonami was a weekday action block.
Scott Venture agreed .

Yeah I remember that! I was like “ok? I guess were going with this guy.”
Nice unexpected surprise
Did they ever announce that a change was coming? like did Moltar say anything or did they just swap them out of the blue with no word of it?

Toonami, introducing the world to great anime.
Oh man this is what put CN on the map back in the day
Cool upload. This was the first TOM1 broadcast after Moltar’s retirement. TOM1 claims to himself that he is the new Moltar.

Childhood memories of Toonami miss those days man!
Someday they better be saved.
Sailor Moon and DBZ were out of this world.
And so many shows were cool too

Hey, Red Wolf, was it YOU who illustrated the thumbnail on that video (TOONAMI:7.10.1999)? If so , than I appreciate your art.
Do you have any Cartoon Network commercial breaks and bumpers from your tapes from these years 1999 2000 & 2001?
Yes I do. I just have to fight that damn TH-cam copyright.
