  • The Japan Open took place in Tokyo from May 3rd to 5th. It used a double elimination format, and I faced Ryo in the final. Ryo had two lives but lost to me right before this final match, making our match the deciding one for the 2024 championship.

Very good to hear Mochy comment his own match, along with the computer analysis. Also, to see effective use of techniques beyond the computer analysis (reading body language, adjustments for relative skill, hesitation over play choice to influence opponent in a pass situation). Most are familiar with these concepts but it is very interesting to see where and how Mochy uses them in an actual tournament.

This was a great video because it demonstrated the ramifications of some bad plays. But mostly because Mochy can say why a play is correct or incorrect

Thanks Mochy. I am trying to be a good coach to my girlfriend. As a PR 5 player, I think I do a pretty good job. But you coach us amateur coaches in a splenidid way. 💪

So few young players around today that when we finaly see someone younger than 28 we all assume that they must be teenagers :)

    Gap on deuce doesn’t ‘ waste’ a 6.
5 can be played later on to fill the ace gap.
And a deuce is far worse than a 5.
So with the ace 3/2 looked clearly better than 6/5.

Thanks Mochy - this is a very educational video. Congratulations on your victory. I just hope your opponent doesn't feel too disheartened by his performance in this match. Hopefully he will take it as inspiration to improve and hold his nerve in a big match better next time.

I have watched some of your matches and have wondered what your thought processes are during the games. Now I have some idea. Please do more. Michy does a fair number of these matches where he talks during them. Thanks.
