Very important self taught tip. So you don't get lost, at every intersection, place a piece of cobblestone then place a torch on the cobblestone pointing in the direction of the way out. If the way out is up but not straight is more cave, place a torch on top and in the out direction. That'll tell you to go up. Make sure to only use cobblestone as it will make easier

Here's my tip for how to go caving:
    1. Always place marker blocks on every turn so you will know your way back. I personally use wooden planks because it is easy to spot while underground. While i'm in Mineshaft, I use Polished Diorite or Jack o Lanterns as a marker block.
    2. Bring Silk touch to save inventory. You can also bring your Fortune 3 incase you need more coal for torches.
    3. When you found a spawner, rush in and light up the room as fast as possible. To prevent dying of course.
    4. Always bring compass. So that when you dig yourself up to Surface, you will know how to get home.
    5. Bring Shields to prevent yourself from dying, especially from creepers and skeletons.
    6. If you go Strip/Branch mining, don't bring blocks. It will take your inventory if you have extra blocks with you.
    7. Place torches on your left.

    my caving techniques are:
    - the tip of the torches always to the exit, stack of wood (in case you need torches or craft anything - go with wood and not planks sticks and wood)
    - luck 3 pickaxe to get the most out of the ores and afterwards u can make blocks out of them which is 4 times more inventory efficient than mining them with silk touch
    - if u have an ender chest will be good to get the most out of your inventory
i thought i got more out of this video but thats how i played as beginner 10 years ago ;)

Always bring a bucket of water. I Like to bring a clock so I can get to the surface to make the most out of the day light and know when to stop mining.
Your dash approach contradicts your torch placing btw. Most don't get lost strip minning. And this is going to be a more common problem with the new caves update. When you enter a big area and then there's 8 choices to take and the walls are so thin that sometimes two caves merge into one. You take so many twists and turns and start going back in circles that it's easy to get lost. But getting lost isn't really the big problem because we know we can usually just dig straight up to get out. The problem is efficiency. You don't want to keep exploring places you've already mined out. Most tunnels are a dead end...fair enough. Just back track and block em up when your done. Now you don't need to go back down them ever again. But often one tunnel leads to a 2nd labyrinth. Now how do you keep from being sidetracked and not missing stuff?
This is where I like to use wood. It's a block that stands out. It makes for a great landmark. Maybe you use wood to say "beyond here is still unexplored" then use a plank for "at this junction room use this tunnel to get back" And if you're really responsible you'd take the time to craft signs and write on them. Nothing is worse though then just mindlessly caving in circles going down places you've been and spending time finding the way back out and trying to remember the branches you wanted to go back to finish exploring.
I've yet to see a good video with actual caving tips to deal with these dilemmas. An actual Pro system with..."why didn't I think of that" kind of solutions.

10:00 Also, if you're caving or mining in a hill, mountain or plateau biome, remember that your starting Y will often be far above the iron upper limit of 63, so the best way to find iron ore is to drop down to sea level first and start digging, or look for open natural clearings whose base goes beyond sea level to the point that iron appears.

I love the tips you have given. Just one inaccuracy on tip number 3. While caving. You should not spam torches. There are many inconveniences where you run out of torches and are forced to remove them. And permanently have a spot where mobs will spawn when you dont know it.
Placing torches using tip number 2 in a cave wall is a more smart and wise choice. I had a video on my channel showing that off that I needed to call my friend to join to lead me out of the cave. I put the torches on my right hand side and always do that so I can find my way out easily now. I played minecraft as long as I could remember so I find number 2 is the best at lighting topics! ^^
To note. Xray using composters do not work for all versions. Especially bedrock edition. Where the swimming system is the same and once again Minecraft managed to seperate the two versions well...

    • @_Abjuranax_
      @_Abjuranax_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Chop wood to make charcoal and torches with, as unless you want to clear out an entire perimeter, you will need to permanently mob proof all of your caves some how. If you are placing over 10,000 torches, you do not want to be replacing them all the time. And if you are not placing that many, you are not placing and caving enough.

I place my torches on the left no matter where I go, and place two torches horizontally to indicate an exit in a multiple path conjunction, and two vertically to indicate if I need to go directly up to get out; ie. one of those pits, a ravine, or a y level crossroads. I also set up series of home bases with furnaces and mark down the coords. I'll smelt all ores while I mine and turn all of them to blocks as I do so. The blocks can then be dropped in an ender chest or carried out of the cave or mine by hand. It usually works pretty well for me :)

    Some other quick gamer tips:
Always mine lapis and redstone, even if you dont need the ores, they give a lot of xp (I think a bit less than or the same as quartz in the nether)
Learn to use the c counter when pressing f3, its at the top left of your screen and there will be a c: and a number. Im pretty sure that number is how many air blocks are in the chunk you are facing. for rule of thumb, ignore c counter if above y40 since it picks up the air blocks in the surface unless you are facing down, 20+ usually means a cave, 50+ means a really good cave or a mineshaft, 100+ means a ravine.
