I have watched mickey mangun over the years since she and the POA was at our church in chicago when I was a teen, and she is just one of a kind, notice she asked him to sing the 3 rd verse. That lady is a true Woman of God a real christian She is not seeking Applause Fame or aknoldegemetn of any kind. She has been flown to the WHITE HOUSE several times to meet with the President and sing for The president TWO of them and once was called in with her husband the pastor of the POA to pray with BILL CLINTON while he was still in the whitehouse . How many presidents call on a SINGER to come sing and pray with him when he finds himself in need? Not many. She is just amazing. She could be RICH With WEALTH right now and living in a MANSION and having limo's drive her around flying in a private jet if she wanted, because they make enough money to live like ROYALTY but they chose to live MODEST. You would be surprised to see their home. It's not a mansion and they don't drive BMW"S and MERCEDES or ride in limos. Between her music and their 5000 member church they make a lot of money. YET you would not know it buy their Earthly possessions. She is one of a few that I count on my hand that really is in this for a true purpose of winning people to her GOD.
I am so glad to hear this. In my heart I always knew this but did not know as I live a long way from where they are. I want to be able to visit their church just one time before God takes me home. I have very bad health and I pray that God will allow me to just one time visit this awesome church and to meet them in person and tell them what their ministry means to me. I also like to hear them on Podcast when I am unable to attend Church.

I am so very sorry that you have personally have had a bad experience. I can assure you that not all UPC are like that. I have been a part of the UPC for years, and have lived in various states and have been to many UPC churches. I can truly say that although there are some people that are judgmental not everyone is. I am praying that God will help and lead you, as I can tell you are hurting. Jesus truly loves you, and wants you to have peace! From one UPC individual that truly cares to you.
I'm so sorry that all that mess happened to you David and with all truth that's not a normal thing to happen within UPC it's not suppose to happen in any church no matter the denomination. People are just people and they get Carried away with their own intentions at times and in the process people get hurt and that's truly unfortunate. But that's the reason why Jesus had to die for us because we are all messed up even if we don't want to admit it. But I'm really sorry this happened to you. I prayed for you and I'll keep praying for you I don't know where you are and who you are but Jesus knows and he will heal your wounds that those people wrongfully inflicted on you. You did not deserve that I pray that He sends help to you. I love you with the love of the one true God, he loves you beyond your own understanding.

Next time I walked through the Church doors, I was NOT greeted by anyone. In fact, all I got was stares (like I was somebody TOTALLY different than I had always been - all the 20 years I had been going there previously). I asked the Pastor to keep this between me and him. And, he said, "Of course, Dave. We don't go around telling other people's business." I should have known because that's all these people did was gossip about others (which is a SIN in and of itself).
I'll tell you something else that happened. I had a friend come to my former Church. There was a tongues of interpretation and the interpretation was that one of the people in that Church (at that time) was going to DIE because they didn't want to give their life to God. Well, my friend died a couple days later due to a truck running him over as he crossed the street. I was already extremely upset about him dying. But, when I came back to the Church, some lady told me that it was all MY fault.
David, I am sitting here with tears running down my cheeks. I just cannot imagine where in the world you came in contact with such uncompassionate and ignorant people. I am so, so, so sorry. How very traumatic for you to have to go through such awful experiences as a young man. Please know that your experience is not the "normal" UPC experience, but because of what you went through I can understand how bitter and hurt you must feel. :( How very sad indeed!
Thanks!!! I really appreciate you saying this to me. I have been to too many UPC Churches to even count. And, most of the UPC Churches that I have been to HAVE been like what I described. But, yeah, I know what you are saying (and I *do* agree with you). There ARE some *very* good people within the UPC. I was one of them (not to pat myself on the back, but just saying that I am a very decent person ... loving, compassionate, etc., ). And, YOU sound like YOU are a very decent person, too.

I think I just had some HORRIBLE experiences within the UPC and the leaders did *not* seem to care that I had these experiences. I will tell you of just ONE bad experience I had. But, there are many, many more that I could tell you about. I could go on all day long with horrible experiences that I had within this Church. I was suicidal at one point in my life. And, I told my youth minister that I was suicidal. I had tears streaming down my face and asked if I could talk to him after service ...
Too many BAD (HORRIBLE) experiences!!! And, I went to the Pastor (the main one) and told him that I was gay. This was years ago. I asked him to keep this secret because I didn't want everyone to judge me (because I knew how THEY felt about gay people - they think that you "CHOOSE" to be gay and that you are somehow "bad," "evil" and "immoral" if you ARE gay - which is the furthest thing from the truth). I didn't want my Church family to HATE me.
"It's too late now!!! There isn't nothing you can do about this friend of yours now. Hopefully, next time, you will work a little harder and get your friends to Church where they can hear the truth and get saved." And, then, of course, I had the preacher who I played the piano for (at the Convalescent homes) who told me that if I quit playing the piano for HIS' nursing home ministry, then maybe God would punish me by having my fingers CUT OFF or MANGLED somehow. I just think this is WRONG!!!
She said, "He is ROASTING in hell right now. And, if YOU would have had him come to Church a little more often, then NONE of this would have happened. You needed to work on him and get him saved. Now, he's in hell." And, she had this scary look on her face (with her eyes all bugging out on me, like she was possessed - and NOT of the Holy Ghost, either). She said, "I know who was driving that truck that night. It was the DEVIL, himself, who was driving that truck. And, he took your friend out."
I agree! But, I wrote about the UPCI because that's where I have had lots of experience with. I don't have much experience or knowledge about any other religion (just the UPC). And, what I have experienced with the UPC is *not* good. Yes, there WERE some good experiences with the UPC. But, not many. Most experiences I had with the UPC were that of fear, guilt, condemnation, and things like that. And, of course, you experience the judgmental and the holier than Thou attitudes.
God's Word is TRUTH! God's blood is the cleansing agent that Jason has accepted! Jesus is the righteous judge.... no human-being is! Remove yourself from The Throne Of God..... Jesus is sitting there so it's a bit CROWDED, with YOU attempting to sit on His throne!

But, I can do WITHOUT all the legalism, judgment, criticizing, gossip, condemnation of OTHERS, of course (they wouldn't want to ever ever ever condemn themselves as THEY feel like they have arrived). I promise you not everyone is out there to hurt you. No ones perfect. We cannot go to Church for the people. (I’ve learned that). We have to go for God! I’m praying for you!! During your most vulnerable time when you were struggling with suicidal thoughts, and had to face the horror and sorrow of a friend passing away you needed true godly compassion. But, I guess, for some reason, at the time, I thought that the Pastor was above that type of thing (even though I had seen it time and time again with the members of that Church). I should have known better (looking back at it). I'm sorry I am going on and on about this. I just have all this hurt built up inside of me and I feel like I am about to explode. I am an EXTREMELY loving, compassionate, and caring person. I am NOT the type of person they MAKE me out to be (an EVIL monster of sorts). :(
David you are not alone.. I am not gay, but I did get hurt badly by my church family.. They were my family and they treated me like trash also.. You know what the spirit of God feels like and you will never forget that touch.. It took almost 8 years for me to get over it.. I still visit the church but can't see myself being a member of any UPC church ever again. I have found a great church family and they take care of each other without looking down upon one. That is the kinda family you need. Look for a smaller church and listen to this great music and let God heal that spot in your heart.. His presence is still with you..
The youth minister didn't seem to compassionate towards what I was going through at all. I told him that I was suicidal and everything. But, he said, "Dave, I cannot talk right now. The youth and my wife are waiting for me at the restaurant. You'll have to make an appointment with the secretary tomorrow and come in and see me. But, right now, I am running late and need to get to the restaurant. They are all waiting on me." I think it was because I was/am gay. And, so, he didn't care about ME ...

You either love Mickey Manguns voice or you hate it no in between. I will tell you this she is one of the very few anointed that has never spoken evil of another human being. She has something that many need in this Christian world and that’s the true love of her God. She walks what she talks. One of my best friends use to say when I was just 14 you either love her voice or you hate it. It’s true. You can feel the realness in her voice you can feel the life she has lived you can hear the apostolic oneness anointing she has upon her. It’s real it’s real I know it’s real …. There are a lot of Apostolic churches out there that need what the POA has. The Manguns are unlike anyone you’ll ever meet in this lifetime. They truly live what they preach and sing about. It’s fire in her bones.

David, may God grant you the strength to be able to put these hurtful experiences behind you, and please know that He cares about you! During your most vulnerable time when you were struggling with suicidal thoughts, and had to face the horror and sorrow of a friend passing away you needed true godly compassion. Not only that, but you were struggling with homosexual desires, and instead of compassionate counsel and leadership you felt betrayed. Shameful! ( continued w/ following post...)
But, I guess, for some reason, at the time, I thought that the Pastor was above that type of thing (even though I had seen it time and time again with the members of that Church). I should have known better (looking back at it). I'm sorry I am going on and on about this. I just have all this hurt built up inside of me and I feel like I am about to explode. I am an EXTREMELY loving, compassionate, and caring person. I am NOT the type of person they MAKE me out to be (an EVIL monster of sorts). :(
David you are not alone.. I am not gay, but I did get hurt badly by my church family.. They were my family and they treated me like trash also.. You know what the spirit of God feels like and you will never forget that touch.. It took almost 8 years for me to get over it.. I still visit the church but can't see myself being a member of any UPC church ever again. I have found a great church family and they take care of each other without looking down upon one. That is the kinda family you need. Look for a smaller church and listen to this great music and let God heal that spot in your heart.. His presence is still with you..
The youth minister didn't seem to compassionate towards what I was going through at all. I told him that I was suicidal and everything. But, he said, "Dave, I cannot talk right now. The youth and my wife are waiting for me at the restaurant. You'll have to make an appointment with the secretary tomorrow and come in and see me. But, right now, I am running late and need to get to the restaurant. They are all waiting on me." I think it was because I was/am gay. And, so, he didn't care about ME ...

You either love Mickey Manguns voice or you hate it no in between. I will tell you this she is one of the very few anointed that has never spoken evil of another human being. She has something that many need in this Christian world and that’s the true love of her God. She walks what she talks. One of my best friends use to say when I was just 14 you either love her voice or you hate it. It’s true. You can feel the realness in her voice you can feel the life she has lived you can hear the apostolic oneness anointing she has upon her. It’s real it’s real I know it’s real …. There are a lot of Apostolic churches out there that need what the POA has. The Manguns are unlike anyone you’ll ever meet in this lifetime. They truly live what they preach and sing about. It’s fire in her bones.

That's what they do best - judging others! They do it ALL the time!!! And, they KEEP you trapped in that Church type enviroment with all the EMOTIONAL trappings that they have (the music, the worship, the preaching, etc., etc., etc., ). They use EMOTION to get you to do WHATEVER they want (all they have to do is make you emotional over whatever it is that they want you to do and they can get you to do about ANYTHING they want - especially give all or most of your money). SAD!!! PATHETIC!!!
